Hiya girls,
Had my first rads this afternoon and it was fine there was 5 people getting me in the right position and one was a very young fella so a bit embarrasing arghhh (should be used to it by now ha) i got all my appointments today but didnt read them properly till i got outside after treatment, after my rads on next monday ive noticed on the list that 30 mins later i have to have another Ct Scan, is this normal ? my minds in overdrive now as i only had a Ct scan on 4th Feb when i was also marked up.By the time i got home it was too late to ring them to ask what it was for, so am a bit worried. It might be that it is standard i quess do you know? I was worrying myself with the last scan as im always terrified that theyll find something else now.
Fiona,
Im so pleased that Suzie is back home with you now and that you slept okish, youll both be able to sleep much better tonight im sure.
Jill,
Bet youll be scanning the house for those pressie ,its sooooo hard not to have a peak isnt it .
Well take care both of you
Lots of love

Hi Lindiloo
Glad you got your first one out of the way. As for the CT scan - I have never had one so cant comment - its not my hospitals policy to do them routinely with bc. Maybe its only a case of it didnt come out right or something - or maybe its a mix up and they dont realise you only had one when you did. Please try not to worry altho I hate when people say that cos I would be worrying too. Why do these things always happen on a Friday too??
Take care both of you
Fiona

Hi Lindiloo,
So pleased the rads went ahead. I would not worry too much Lindiloo, it could be standard procedure at your hospital, they all differ from what I can make out or they could have just mixed it up I had one on my planning day and she said it may be necessary for another when I go next Wednesday, think she said something to do with making sure you are lined up correctly, so maybe it is that, especially with us just starting… I had to query on my list as I was booked in twice one day, I would ring and just ask them, put your mind at rest. Just a nuisance as Fiona says that its weekend.Thinking of you
Love and Hugs

Hiya girls,
Thanks for reasurring me a bit im sure your right, i think if it was anything sinister i would have been told by now dont you ,like you say its proberly just makeing sure im lined up properly, its funny how haveing BC makes you worry about every little thing doesnt it. Spoke to my GP earlier to ask if he would give me more than one months supply of Tomoxifin at a time to save a bit on perscription charges (have to pay) but no go, infact hes perscribing me 28 tabs (my onc gave me a box of 30) meaning they will be snipping 2 tablets off each months batch ( wonder where these go) its bloody annoying . Its not that i mind paying but think its pretty unfair that some other conditions not as serious as ours get their meds for free.( including prisioners urghhhh)
Well moan over sorry girls for wingeing.
Hope you are both doing ok.
Lots of Hugs

Hi Girls
How are you both today - hope your having a good weekend.
Lindiloo - know what you mean about prescription charges - I cant believe how mean your gp is being - and as you say - I thought having cancer would mean getting free prescriptions but no!! I got myself a pre paid 6 month certificate when I was on chemo and needing lots of meds but it has run out now and I only get 2 prescriptions (if that) per month now so havnt bothered renewing.
Suz is doing absoultely fine today - no probs at all - thank goodness. She was meant to be at a pals tonight with about 10 others for a slumber birthday party but I have said shes not going - altho she feels ok she is still quite pale - but I have relented and said she can go for the first 2 hours only then I will pick her up - so something is better than nothing!!
Apart from that not much else going on. I got a silicone swim prosthesis thro the post today that I ordered - will have to try it on when one of my mates is here just to see what they think - its not quite so full as my normal breast but I think with the swimsuit being patterned it looks ok - dont want to look obvious tho!!
Anyway, might speak to yous later
Take care for now

Hope you are both having a good weekend. I have had a lovely day, went to visit my auntie and uncle have not seen them since being diagnosed, so had a really good catch up and a great laugh, she gave me some more pressies, again whipped away by my OH, I have scoured this house in search of the goodies but he has hidden them good style! Just have to wait and behave myself I guess.
Glad Suzie is back home Fiona, and raring to go by the sound of it, good sign she is getting better. Hows your skin?
i am sure your swimsuit will look lovely, I always seek my mates opinion too.
Hope your skin is ok too Lindiloo, and no ill effects. Enjoy the weekend, they will probably become precious to us in the coming weeks, FREE TIME!!! I start the Tamoxifen on Tuesday so hope to fare as well as you. Will keep you posted. I have a nice bottle of champers cooling in the fridge for Monday, so nothing is gonna stop me having that!!
Anway girls, hope all ok with you both

Tuesday, so hoping I fare as well as you have. Will keep you posted.
Hey Jill
Know what you mean about the pressie thing - I always end up sneaking a look inside one or two of my chrissie pressies - then tape them up again!!!
Which birthday is this for you on Monday?? Its my 40th in April - yikes!!!
My skin is ok - still a big red square but certainly no worse than it was - so fingers crossed.
Suzie went to her mates for a couple of hours - the rest that werent having a sleepover were not getting picked up till 11 but I think that would be too late for her considering what she has be;en through this week.
Thats me now 1/2 way thro my rads - it does go quickly girls - honest!!
Take care both of you

Hi Fiona, Im ten years ahead of you its my 50th!!! Double yikes!!! Still 20 in my head though. Still not sure what we are doing yet, probably a nice family meal, I am always on the last minute, just ring em all up and tell em to be there!!! Can not believe you are half way with Rads, it does not seem 2 minutes since you were telling me you were starting, well done you, especially with what you have had to deal with. Glad Suzie had a nice time, but think you were wise to not let her stay too long, while she is still recovering.
Hi Lindiloo,
Glad all ok with you, and thanks for your birthday wishes.Really glad I feel much better to celebrate it, started last night actually, my friend bought me a toffee birthday cake which has been glaring at me in the fridge since thursday, saying eat me!! yes you have guessed it demolished!! I just cant wait, did not devour it all myself I am pleased to say or I would have felt guilty, it was yummy!! So long walk for me today me thinks!
Hope you are both having a good weekend

Lindiloo,
Dont know if it would help you but I have what is called a HC2 certificate, it entitles you to free prescriptions, glasses etc. you get it It is based on your income and does not necessarily have to be very low. To apply you get a HC1 form from any jobcentre, doctor, dentist and it goes to Newcastle who work out whether you qualify. Maybe worth at try because the situation you have said is ridiculous no wonder you are annoyed. its going to cost a fortune at that rate over 5 years.
Hope this maybe of some help, and you are not wingeing I would be furious!!!
Love Jillxxx
Hi Girls
Jill - happy birthday for tomorrow - you will be able to open all your pressies - yipeee.
Just back from gym - had a good workout and feel better for it after doing nothing since Wed. Now home and not going out again.
Good luck with your continuing rads Lindiloo - start of week 3 tomorrow - it is going past quick.
Take care
Fiona

Hiya girls hope your both ok,
Thanks Jill for the info about the HC1 certificate i shall apply and see what happens ,dont know if ill be entilted to anything cos hubbys working and dont get any other benifits, it is annoying cos ive lost my income for the time being (self employed carer/home help) hope to go back to it later. While i was on chemo i had to have a few perscriptions from GP for infections ,one cost me nearly 30 pounds for 4 items, urghhh. It just seems unfair that some conditions are exempt and others like ours are not. If i cant get any help ill have to look into getting a pre payment certificate i suppose.Hope you have a nice time tomorrow for your birthday.
Fiona,
Glad you managed to get a good workout at the gym ,i think i need to look at doing more exercise now as the Tomoxifin is supposed to make you gain weight, ill need to get myself motivated me thinks. I have gone a bit loopy over diet , i know there is not much evidence about what we should/should not be eating but its food for though isnt it so changed to all fresh veg/meat and organic milk /butter. Its a minefield isnt it , i bought a book recently called (healing foods )its not specificately about cancer but all conditions and is very interesting reading about whats in different foods and which have antitoxins in . Guess haveing something like BC makes you more awear about doing everything you can to try and be as healthy as possible.
Well hope you both have a good day

Hi Lindiloo
I have read several threads and links about foods etc but I must say I have not changed my diet at all - I think its one of these things we either get or dont - I eat a fairly healthy diet anyway. They think I am going to be a carrier of one of the bc genes so I guess thats why I got it. I just think we can get too wrapped up in all that - I just eat what I fancy really - but everyones different and have different opinions which is fair enough. I suppose the one thing I am getting hooked on is my weight - have gone down to between 8 1/2 stone and about 8 st 9 - which I am quite happy about and I dont want to put it on again - I think this is m aybe because this is something I can control in my life right now - as I have been unable to control anything else - 1 or 2 folks have said I look a big gaunt but mostly folk say how healthy I look so am goin to stay this way if I can - I am only 5ft 2! I have been a gym junkie for the past 8 years or something like that so aint gonna change that - and its the only thing that makes me feel better and its my time etc.
Anyway - enough of that waffle for now - thats just me
Byeeeeee for noooooo

Hi Girls.
Thanks for your good wishes, appreciated. Well I am having a lovely day so far, pressies were opened at 7 this morning, kept waking up in night willing it to come morning so I could delve in! Got some lovely things and had 2 bouquets delivered, so a very lucky girl. Two of my friends bought me lovely bracelets, love a bit of bling!!
Going out later for a meal, so will post again when we get back. Not bad this turning 50 lark!
Hope you are both ok and the rads are going well for you, see you later when a bit tipsy (I HOPE!!!)

Hey Jill
Glad your having a good birthday - you deserve it. I am going to London for my 40th with my 2 best mates for 2 nights - seeing a show - they wont tell me which one tho.
Rads was cancelled today - well - one machine was broken and they gave me the option of hanging around or just getting it added on at the end - I feel really tired today so couldnt be bothered hanging around and then getting stuck in rush hour traffic to get home - its no skin off my nose really.
Hope you ok Lindiloo

hiya girls,
Glad to hear your haveing a lovely birthday Jill and have had some lovely pressies too , its so nice when you have flowers delivered isnt it ,its a nice surprise. hope you have a lovely meal out tonight and manage to have a few drinks too.you deserve it.
Sorry to hear your rads was cancelled today Fiona, no wonder your feeling tired youve had a lot to cope with lately and i should imagine the daily rads routine will get tireing after a bit. It doesnt seem to matter missing odd days ive noticed on my appointments that because of easter ill have a break between 20th-25th march till they open again.
Well had my second rads today and was fine, found out what the second Ct Scan was for and was relieved to find out it was just for marking up tumour site aswell (had the 3 usual tattoos done before rads started )this one is for the booster course at the end of treatment. Phew
My hospital doesnt want me too use any cream at all urghhh ,dont know why all hospitals seem to do things different, just said they will see how i get on and if i do need it they will give me some then.
Ah well hope you are both doing ok

Hi Girls,
Had a lovely meal and quite a few drinks, but really enjoyed today.
Fiona Sorry your rads were cancelled, just a pain that you travelled there for nothing, will you be ok for tomorow?
Hope Suzie is still on the mend. London sounds great, my best friend has said that she will treat me to a London weekend and a show when rads are finished, nice birthday present so something to look forward to.
Lindiloo Glad to hear that the CAT scan was nothing to worry about, you must have been very relieved. All hospitals differ dont they in their treatments, there seems no set rules. I am sure if your skin causes any probs they will give you something, but fingers crossed you wont need it.
Well girls, only short and sweet tonight my eyes are slightly squiffy after several glasses of plonk! so sorry if any spelling mistakes. Hope you are both ok (Hic Hic!!!)

Hi Girls
Had a nightmare of a day, was all ready and waiting for transport and it did not turn up, so rang hospital and they said all my transport had been cancelled for all my appointments, was so annoyed, they could not provide transport as all the drivers had already gone for the day, had to ring my OH and get him from work to take me. When I got to hospital they said that a new lady in the office had cancelled them by mistake!!! I got there an hour late, but at least it was done, If I had not gone today my start date would have been delayed and I did not want that. Anyway Its all done and I have got lovely x marks the spot all over my boob, did you girls have clear plasters put on? they have put three on me but dont know what for.
Hope you are both doing ok, sorry you are feeling tired Fiona, how long to go now? It must take its toll every day and as you say become tedious. You have done great so far, and hopefully the rads will soon be a distant memory.
Lindiloo: Hope your rads are going well, and your skin is holding out Thinking of you both girls, going to have a nice long soak and de-stress. Start the Tamoxifen tomorow. Yipee!! NOT
Love to you both
