That’s great news Garry, the money will help a lot.
I will make an appointment with my GP, I will probably have to wait a few weeks to see my preferred one as most appointments are with locums. Hopefully she will agree to it, she was very supportive when I was first diagnosed. Thaks everyone.

Hi ladies, just want to let you all know that I got a letter today to that my PIP has been renewed again for another 3 years!!! So relieved, I’ve been really worrying about it, at least I can relax again financially wise as this really helps to take the pressure off doesn’t it.

Hello
Silly question but is PIP taxable ? I get pensions and just wondering this year whether I will have to pay tax as I will have gone over my personal allowance with pip this year,
Hiya Helena
Welcome over the bridge to the secondary threads … !
Thank you so much for replying though as I had a fear of getting a tax bill soon !!!
Looking forward to seeing more tapestries soon.

Thanks Barton
Phew I was worried as I’m due a small tax return and thought it might reverse to a tax demand !!
At least something that’s tax free !!

Everyone is very welcome here or anywhere we love new input but as a primary bc …it’s not a good place for you especially as you have had a good outcome now .
Thank you for replying …I had a panic moment about the tax thingy but I’m going to be ok.
yes …weather here is iffy but its colder again but makes it easier to sit down and enjoy some tapestry time .

That is terrible treatment …we all get it here and without that hassle .
To be honest I didn’t know about it until I applied for a humble blue badge …when I was being accessed for that …the very nice man asked me how long I had received pip for? I said I didn’t know about it …he gave me the helpline phone number …I rang and answered a few questions on the phone , received a form to complete a few days later ( quite simple to complete) and then I received the full amount backdated. They contacted my oncologist for confirmation of my dx etc.
Keep trying as its worth it to help with the extra costs of things with this awful disease.

Hi Sandra, I agree with the responses to your post.
It is absolutely disgraceful the way your GP treated you, no wonder you were upset!
Both my bcn and oncologist refused to fill in the DS1500 form for me saying that I “wasn’t poorly enough yet”!!! So I got in touch with a lady from Welfare Rights she was so lovely and I didn’t even see any of the forms etc she filled in everything for me. She told me that my GP could fill in the DS1500 in so I got in touch with my surgery and they were more than happy to do this.
That was almost 3 years ago and I have just had it renewed again for another 3 year’s, again my GP filled in the DS1500 out.
Please don’t give up on this, you are more than entitled to it!!!
Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks everyone, the Macmillan Community Nurse rang me this morning, the D’s surgery had contacted her and asked her to get in touch with me, she is coming to see me next week.
I am now waiting to see what paperwork the Hospital sends me.
Well after 6 months of waiting I have eventually been given PIP, the full amount. After my ONC refused to do the DS1500 because he thought I would live more than 6 months ( he was right, I am still here) and my GP insisted that the DS1500 was only for people with weeks to live, I wrote to DWP advising of a change in circumstances and sent copies of letters giving my diagnosis from my Oncologist to my GP, I was already in receipt of the basic living amount due to pain in my hip that I had been told was arthritis but turned out to be bone mets. I heard nothing from DWP and assumed they must have conveniently lost my letter. Having spoken to the welfare officer at the Hospice she suggested that we started my claim again from the beginning, I contacted DWP only to find that they did have my letter and were looking into it. The lady I spoke to said she had never seen anything like it before as there was no record of them contacting me only of them sending my paperwork back to Capita, she told me that it was all just waiting for a decision. I rang them again on Monday after waiting for another 6 weeks and found out that I had been awarded the full amount of PIP and the money went in the bank today, I am still waiting for the letter that was supposedly sent out last Wednesday. So now I have the money to go off and do things just a pity I don’t have any energy or strength!
Hello ladies
Well I’ve only had my pip for 18 months and now got a huge form to complete asking for any changes in my health … do you also get these to do. I knew I only got 3 years before I would be accessed again but this is a short time surely ?
Hugs xx
Well I’ve filled in the form honestly. …so will see what comes back …I thought I got the higher rate and as I was dx extensive bone mets which won’t get better than I think this is just a case of someone shuffling paper to keep their job !!
Neither my GP nor my oncologist would fill out a ds1500 for me. I sent my application off after consulting the citizens advice web pages and was pleased to get the PIP awarded. However it is only for 2 years then I presume I have to apply again!?!?
