Progesterone, assorted other hormones and fluffy cake

Hi All,  just back from a very busy morning and just popped in to see if any update from Beth, nothing yet, will check later.  Yes, know what you all mean about getting used to whipping your top off, I got so much in the habit that for a couple of months I kept getting topless everywhere, in the queue at the supermarket, in the library, at the bus stop, only got arrested once and got away with a caution due to my circumstances xx

Afternoon all

back from the hospital after seeing the surgeon this morning. She was absolutely lovely, as she was on that fateful day when I was told I had cancer. After running through everything I’d written down, and listening to everything I wanted to say, she immediately said that I may have lymphodeama in my breast and cording in my armpit, and would use the ultrasound to confirm. Anyway, she was correct and pointed out the absolutely obvious differences between the two breasts. Waiting now for a referral to come through for the lymphodeama clinic but she says it’ll be fine to still go on my holiday in June to Canada but to make sure I’ve attended the clinic before I go in case they want me to wear a sleeve or something for the flight.

She’s also changed the tamoxifen from one tablet a day to a lower dose, twice a day to see if I sleep any better. I’m so pleased that everything was normal and that she said there was nothing to worry about and she was happy with progress. Need to do those stretches again to help that cording too. Mammogram booked for October now. Omg. ??

feeling mightily relieved all this pain isn’t just in my head or my imagination. Taken the afternoon off to recover from all that prodding and poking ouch.

Hope all you lovelies are ok xxx

Hello ruby cat
Must confess I had to borrow your big girls pants last week too ( I did wash them afterwards) to see my oncologist for my scan results . Lucky all went well.
Xxxx

Hello all, We’ve just arrived home from Bruges, spent all day in the car, and what is one of the the first things I do? Check in to see how everyone is.

Beth, you’ve been putting up with pain and discomfort all this time and just got told it was normal and to be expected, and you could have been having treatment for it months ago. So I’m really glad someone’s finally paid attention, but flipping heck, why didn’t this happen months ago? Anyway, I’m really glad you’ve had that appointment, and with someone who really listened.

I’m feeling a bit deflated, I’ve just had a letter from the Blood Donor Service saying I can’t give blood any more. It’s not that I’m desperate to keep giving my armful, but it does make me feel a bit of a pariah, can’t have me contaminating anyone with my dodgy blood. And last year they told me I would be able to donate again once I finished treatment, they said we’ll put a temporary hold on, just wait till it’s all finished and you feel ready to start again. And at the time that was quite a cheerful thought, that after all the treatment was over they’d think everything could go back to how it was before.

Well I guess it’s not important in the scheme of things, and it did seem a bit unlikely at the time…

Helloooo all you lovely ladies

This is just a quick visit as I am off out tonight for dinner with my mum and brother, oh joy!!

Beth - great news about your appointment but obviously a bummer about the lympodema but at least you know what it is, yep plenty of rest needed now perhaps even the day off tomorrow as well just to recover from today!!

DIzzy - welcome back from your jaunt.

Rubycat, Janey, Carolyn, Charys, Lesley, Clair, ann, delly, Jobey and anyone I have missed, have a lovely evening, might get chance to drop in later.

Helena xxxx

Those PANTS are immense…when you said BIG girl, I thought it meant…well not MAHOOSIVE GIRL! We could all fit in those !

Hey Beth, I have lymphodaema to the whole breast as well, but to be honest it doesn’t cause me pain like yours. My surgeon just said that I must concentrate on the massage things which the nurse gave me last year. The most annoying thing is that I’ve had to go up 2 cup sizes for the enlarged ‘one’ and the other one is rattling around in the other side of the bra lol. I have the imprint of every seam, bit of thread and so on after taking the bra off. it doesn’t feel at all tight though. On the amusing side, a broderie anglaise texture boob is quite in vogue I believe.

Have a great evening Helena.

Rubycat you gorgeous fashionista where did you find that headscarf and when does your book on handy household hacks come out - oh to have whites that white .,
Beth thank goodness you were listened too today and I hope you can get sorted quickly.
Welcome home Dizzy - how were the tulip fields?
Charys tomorrow we shall all be in the big girl pants with you and hoping it’s painfree and you get a shiny white envelope quickly and with a clear.
Lesley I must learn not to sneak a peek at this thread when at work - especially when you are posting about your behaviour and Rubycat putting up pics - keeping a straight face is difficult!
Carolyn I’m glad you post here too. Helena enjoy your evening. Clair if you’re reading this, so glad the sun is shining for you.
Delly you are being quiet but I think you have some appointments, so hope you’re okay. Still worried about Lily? Hugs to everyone xx

Charys

thats exactly what happens to me. If I wear a more supportive bra (that I should be wearing ) then it leaves a love floral pattern on my skin and oh boy it squishes the old boobicle by the end of the day. I think I might have to do what you’ve done and get a bigger cup bra.

Thinking about it tonight I am a bit cross that despite all the calls I’ve made to the BCN, it’s taken till now for someone to take me seriously. As soon as the doctor looked at my breast, without touching it she said it was definitely lymphodeama (mottled skin) and the ultrasound confirmed it. I could have been referred months ago. Hey ho at least it’s getting sorted now I guess.

They’ll teach me the massage thing apparently (hubby has kindly offered lol lol) (not on your nelly lol)  and I hope that’ll help.

Im glad you’re doing ok with it. Gives me hope!!! Xxx

Talking of bras for odd size boobs now, I stocked up in Sainsbury’s today as they’re doing their 25% off at the moment.  For £6 I get pull over the head jjobbies that stretch to fit so you don’t end up with an empty cup, and as my scar is down the side where the seams are in most bras they are brilliant as they are seamless so don’t rub the scar.

Beth the lovely nurse at the lympthodema clinic taught me how to do the massage to drain the lymph glands, Have to say that I’m naughty and haven’t done them for ages now, but they did help a lot.  My cording has 99% gone now thanks to The physio, so  it does get better (as long as you do the exercises of course)

Flufflies

Oh I am back in the fold again.  Had a nice night with mum and my brother, sounds awful to say but actually it was not all about HIM tonight and mum was asking about how I was.  It is the first time I have seen her since my op because she lives in Northern Ireland.  My brother is very much the attention seeker and everything is about him so I was dreading being out with him, I kept thinking about all of you and it helped to get me through.  That does sound awful but I dont mean it to be I know I can be honest on here about my feelings, he is just take take take from mum and he thinks it is everyone else fault that he is in the position he is now.  I wouldnt mind but he is nearly 58.  Sorry guys for ranting but that is off my chest now

love

Hello ladies
I do feel a bit guilty posting here as a secondary but I’m also a hormone girl …just on letrozole and its keeping the little blighters from partying too much in my bones at present.
Well ruby cat …I have a big confession and hail Mary to make …I copied and pasted your big knickers pic onto the secondary board for all those ladies waiting for scans etc…thought it might cheer them along a bit at worrying times .
We call it " the scan result diet" as it means lots of trips to the loo before results day but it works and the jeans fit better !!
Hugs to all xxxxx

Hello lovely fluffies

Before I read back and try catch up on zillions of pages - Good Luck for your results tomorrow Charys xxxx

Charys, thinking of you today. Short but sweet hello from me. We couldn’t help bingeing on all of Peter Kay and I didn’t do my homework for today’s work - oops! Loads of love xxx

Charys, thinking of you today, hope all goes well.

Good luck today Charys, we’ll all be holding your hand when you need it xxx

Beth I’m glad your getting sorted now xxx

The hospital rang me yesterday I’ve got my date through for the op it’s for 11th May so not long. We’re off to Sidmouth in a bit so I’ll catch up later
Love and hugs xxxxx

Clair, I’m glad your date has come through, at least now you know what you’re aiming for. Did they tell you how long you’ll need to take off to recover? Hopefully you’ll be able to sit in the garden and enjoy some sunshine while you’re off.

Janey, the tulips were wonderful. I didn’t know anything about the Keukenhof Gardens before we went, they’re only open for six weeks a year so everything is out at once, it’s just crammed with spring flowers. The scent of the hyacinths was incredible. And it’s enormous, we were there on the Sunday so it was very busy, and so hot. And driving away through all the tulip fields was lovely as well.

We had a lovely day in Bruges, I hadn’t been in donkeys years, and Mike had never been. But we had the typical tourist nightmare trying to get to our hotel, driving down pedestrian areas and trying to do an eight point turn in the middle of all the crowds, I was curling up in my seat but Mike was very calm, considering it happened three times…! I don’t know what a Belgian no entry sign looks like, but it’s nothing like ours…Next time we’ll look for a hotel away from the city centre, I don’t think my nerves would stand it again.

Okayyyyy all done! Very quick actually. …considering they did side and top images of both breasts. Did it hurt ? Not as much as I thought…but un fortunately my scar avd internal scar tissue was right on the edge of where the plates end and your body bends back up…so that wasn’t great. I did blub on the way there, but not in there lol

Thanks Helena…she was very nice the nurse. She kept apologising for causing pain.

The odd thing was …the plates didn’t feel nearly as tight as they did a year ago lol

Hello ladies
Living in Exeter the donkey sanctuary isn’t far to go for us …it’s a lovely place
A couple of years ago I adopted a donkey each for my son’s as a Xmas pressy …they were able to visit their donkeys when they wanted to.
That naughty Moijan that sometimes posts here …confessed to feeding a mars bar to one and the toffee made his teeth stick together !! ?
Isn’t it funny how scans and mammogrammes fill us all with panic …it’s the results …aagh .
Xxxx
