September 2024 chemo starters

Oh that sounds horrible not heard of that . Hope it eases soon xx

@naughty_boob hi, Iā€™m on 2nd round of EC atm Doxotaxel to follow for last 3. I was told i was ok to drive as long as i felt well, no dizziness etc, but was a bad idea as just irritated it. Wouldnt have been so bad if it had gone to plan and used the same vein, but new vein is sore. Paracetamol before bed

So sorryā€¦its rubbish isnt it. Sending love x

Thank you certainly is. Hope youā€™re ok? :kissing_heart::kissing_heart:

Not thought about this as I took have had auxiliary node clearance and PICC in other arm. Due to have my flu and COVID jab next Wednesday. Will ask oncologist on Friday for advice. I am sure your breast nurse would be able to advice.

All the best for the haircut @nicnac17
I had an appointment to get mine cut (was below shoulder length) before cycle one but I chickened out. Had my first treatment on 25th and last night decided the hair was coming off so I put it in little ponytails and my husband chopped it off with the sewing scissors :see_no_evil:. Iā€™m sending it to the Little Princess Trust and he finished me off with his clippers. My head now looks a bit like a microphone but I donā€™t really mind. I was cold in bed though! Once it starts actually coming out heā€™s going to shave it to a number zero, like his own. I was surprised I didnā€™t cry or even feel like crying. We kinda had a laugh about it and my 6 year old found it all very amusing. I hope you get on ok having yours cut

I think if you donā€™t laugh youā€™ll cry. It sounds like youā€™ve dealt with it well and if your kiddo found it amusing sounds like a win to me.
Lovely to send to Little Princess Trust such a brilliant charity.
How do you like your new haircut apart from being cold?

I have short hair anyway so I wasnā€™t too fussed about loosing it but now Iā€™ve got handfuls coming out Iā€™m a bit floored tbh. I was never much into my boobs either and now theyā€™re chopped up Iā€™m kinda floored by that too. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Itā€™s so hard to know how weā€™ll react to all these things which are happening to us, isnā€™t it? Iā€™ll maybe be a snivelling mess next week when the clumps are coming out! I havenā€™t had short hair since I was about 9 and in my tomboy phase, so I donā€™t love it but itā€™s also not horrific, especially since my sister tidied it up a bit today after my poor husbandā€™s effort :joy: I actually wore my wig today to Tesco and out for lunch and didnā€™t spot anyone staring at me. If you have short hair anyway I think youā€™ll look great, and youā€™ll already be used to the draught on your neck so thatā€™s a bonus. Tbh Iā€™m more worried about losing my eyebrows as Iā€™ve always been quite pleased with how naturally good they are. I didnā€™t think I was particularly vain but it could all unravel shortly. Hopefully the silver lining will be no longer needing to pluck my chin. Iā€™ll be very annoyed if those are the hairs which decide to stay put!

:rofl::rofl::rofl: youā€™ve made me laugh. I bet youā€™re right those bloody chin hairs will be robust and not bloody budge. I also think my grey hairs will stay and my black hairs will fall out too. Umm eyebrows I think Iā€™m like you, mine are pretty good too, good shape, dark theyā€™ll probably fall away too. Hopefully legs hairs will do one forever .
Iā€™m trying to get a full nights sleep without waking I almost succeeded last night so Iā€™m hoping tonightā€™s the night. Apart from day 1 Iā€™ve woken every night :exploding_head:.

Hi @sharlou quickly popping over from August thread to say after my 2nd EC my liver was also aggravated. When I got to my treatment for round 3 the oncology nurses wanted the ok from onc to go ahead which they got so went ahead. I had an onc appt before my 4th and levels had reduced again (liver still annoyed by not as much) but onc wasnā€™t concerned. Just to let you know this happened to me too  xx

You need to get antibiotics from your team with the cystitis, itā€™ll be a uti and need antibiotics. Thatā€™s what happened to me on first chemo and I ended up in casa nhs for 6 days on antibiotics because it was a uti not just cystitis. Please ring your rapid rest number and let your team know. Keep safe :two_hearts::two_hearts::sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

@Shi thank you. I did go to the unit and they did a dip test and said it was clear. Maybe I should ring them again :see_no_evil:

Hi @sunshineandunicorns (great name!!) Iā€™m having my flu and covid jabs today, and because Iā€™ve had node removal and mastectomy on left side snd PICC on right side (like you), Iā€™ve been told Iā€™ve got to have injections in the thigh. (Apparently I can never have jabs or bp readings on my left arm either because of node removal - could cause lymphoedema). I have to have BP readings on my right wrist whilst picc is in.

At my surgery, at flu clinic, they have 2 nurses (one on the left and one on right) and each nurse gives a different jab into each arm. All done in the reception area with a production line of people queuing.

When I told them it had to be in my thigh when booking the jabs, they said theyā€™d come out to the car park and do it there for convenience. Seriously?? I booked with my local pharmacy instead who does it in a small consulting room.

Good luck with jabs! x

@janie3 Just had mine done & it was a whole thing where the nurse didnā€™t know what to do & had to go ask the doctor so they sat me in a side room till they had decided what to do with me . Ended up having it in my thigh. Iā€™m sure it hurts less in the thigh which is a small bonus. Hope yours goes okay today. As if they were going to do you in the car thatā€™s ridiculous.

I would if I were you. Reading the forum recently all your trusts are sounding either very competent or seriously lacking so do double check. I had no temperature but burning wee and it was a uti that required antibiotics. Are you a bit shivery and feeling fluy too? Keep safe :two_hearts::two_hearts::sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

Thank you so much for this. I havenā€™t been particularly reassured by the nurse this morning, I said I was panicked about spread and she said ā€˜Iā€™m sure itā€™s not the case but we need to do more tests to make sureā€™. So now Iā€™m panicking :grimacing:
