September 2024 chemo starters

My underarms are smoother than a baby’s backside! More eyebrows fell out today when I washed my face but the vile chin hairs I get are hanging on in there

I’ve been reading all your replies great to get to know you all. jumping in now with my hair story (EC on 11/9 and 2/10).

Hair coming out so bad that I looked like a gorilla getting out of the shower. So I’ve gone for a No3 and my hairdresser will tidy it up on Monday - feeling ok till I walk past a mirror :joy::joy:.

(legs and other places still hairy :person_facepalming:t2:)

Going for a little walk today so I will probably spend an hour choosing a hat for a 10-min walk :person_shrugging:t2:

After posting no difference elsewhere I looked down in the shower & seems some of my bikini area has departed. Not all so it looks f*****g weird! But every cloud  I do wonder where it physically went tho, I didn’t notice it anywhere if that makes sense

You really notice the cold when you’ve got no hair don’t you! I bought a baker boy hat but I think I look like a peaky blinder in it

My hair is being cut off Sunday my daughter is coming with me as think I need someone with me. I had a massive knot come after my cold cap on Wed which couldn’t budge and has fused called a bird nest apparently !! Day 3 of 2nd chemo and feeling ok sickness wise just so emotional today as have had a mole appear just a little way from where tumour was removed in June googled and they say could be connected and to ring bcn. No one around to speak to today unless life threatening which it isn’t. Will call tomorrow to get some advice. :pensive:

I’m putting on weight caused by eating what I want when I want it regardless of whether it’s good for me or not. It doesn’t help that I spend most of my time slouching about at home and not going out much.

Same here magl. It’s so hard to maintain a healthy diet when your tastebuds are awol and you have to eat whatever you feel like just to make sure you’re eating something! I just keep telling myself I’ll deal with the weight when all of this is over…

Exactly @Sharlou . Following a strict healthy eating plan would just add another layer of something to worry about. I do feel a bit guilty but I’m happy to blame the steroids at the moment. I was told they’d increase my appetite.

I just washed mine, omg I dont think there will be very much left in a few days. I’ll be like Gollum! It’ll almost be a relief when its gone, but I dont know if I’ll be able to cold cap… I’ve 1 more EC and then 3 Docetaxel to get through yet

The steroids make me ravenous! I seem to crave salty carbs, very rarely crave anything sweet. I could live on fresh uncut bread with loads of butter.

Although I recently discovered honey roast mackerel fillets. Normal me would run a mile from it but nowadays it’s like the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted :woman_shrugging:

All the best people are rocking the gollum look!

I asked my onc about cold capping now that I have barely any hair to protect my scalp. She said they will give me a surgical cap if I want to continue. I’m undecided cos I’ve heard it really helps with regrowth, but I just don’t know :woman_shrugging:

Im trying to stick to my 3 meals a day but seem to be gaining weight. Try to get out for my walk everyday but feeling tired and no mojo at all this week with picc line antics and hair falling out. Im hoping ill pick up soon. Just feeling old, sad and fat.
I’ve rediscovered Ritz crackers.
I feel full quite fast though, no room to snack in the evening.

Too funny  it gets everywhere!! I just showeted and it was ridiculous. I was laughing and crying at the same time.

I’m heavily into toffees and cashew nuts. Apart from Christmas I don’t usually eat toffee from one year’s end to the next. Now I’m either eating them or thinking about them.

I’ve still got a Seroma in my armpit so I’m keeping up the post-surgery exercises in the hope it will go away by itself. There’s some adult exercise equipment near me so I’ve been using those. Not much walking though.

Feeling frustrated. Have a horrendous rash on my face and neck. I’m going to have to pause chemo due to impact it’s having on my liver function. The itching is almost unbearable and nothing seems to be helping. Anybody else got chemo type rash?

@sharlou i heard the same, but my nurse looked at me like she’d never heard it before, so its a conversation we need to have
