Standing outside the dark, dark woods.

Can we have a small cafe that will sell egg and bacon sandwiches, because just lately I have become addicted as well as big slices of chocolate cake.
I’ve just been to my slimming class and after a couple of weeks drinking and eating myself silly I have still managed to lose half a pound.
Hmmmmm me thinks its going to come back and bite me on the bum, big time very soon.

I think the existing patisserie/bakery yurt can provide the seating arrangements and service. Then we can be sure that the quality is spot on (and the calories are magically removed - iwas going to say ‘calories have been squashed out’ but it ruined the image somewhat)and of course it’s all free. The bacon and egg butties sound yummy too. (Bear in mind that as i’m full of steroids at the mo a dish cloth that has just wiped up toast and marmalade crumbs sounds scrummy to me.)

right now i could go with a skinny mocha, choc brownie and a foot massage whilst gazing out on the lagoon.

hugs all
dawn xx

Saphy
love your picture, you look beautiful and sooooooooo happy.

I think there will have to be a Tardis-like facility in The Layby. It will automatically connect to the JM and the yurts. Most of the time it will look like one of those mobile cafes that you sometimes see pulled up in laybys, but when required it will morph into a truly magnificent ladies’ loo, tea room or coffee shop, etc.

I’ve managed to get out of the slammer and back to the woods.

Missed the Chemo train this week. My red boob frightened the driver and he put his foot down.

Being treated for Cellulitis but I’ve met the Hickman staff and hoping to be fitted ready to start in a couple of weeks, infection allowing.

Hope I dont miss the train next week, I’ll have to change my name.

I like the layby idea, looks like I need to spend some time there.

Hugs

Can we have a layby somewhere close to the WBC burrows? That would make waiting for the newts to come back out a bit easier. And a kit shop for the newt nets and assorted other bits and pieces we need while sitting in the layby.

After a mega 6-hr session today, mostly taken up with waiting, I have finally joined the F**k FEC club. It was a day of "last one"s. Started with getting the last available parking spot in the car park just before 9 this morning. Waited for chemo nurses to have a slot to take blood from (already EMLAed) portacath, so a bit of a wait. Portacath decided it didn’t want to play. It’s a sulky so-and-so, and clearly thought that it had given enough blood yesterday and wasn’t going to be so obliging today. Despite all the huffing, deep breathing, leaning forwards, leaning backwards, it dug its little portacath heels in and point blank refused. Bad idea, that, which resulted in them removing the first needle and having another go. Portacath finally realised it was fighting a losing battle so eventually gave up the precious dark red fluid. I know it has my best interests at heart (bless it) but it does need to be a bit obliging for the lovely chemo nurses.

Then WAIT for blood results to come back. But not a wasted hour or two. I had booked myself in for a massage, so got rubbed down VERY firmly for an hour with sweet almond oil and a hint of mandarin oil so emerged, floaty and relaxed, smelling faintly of the fruit bowl. Do you think that will count as one of my five a day? Results of bloods - woohoo, newts clearly didn’t like slobbing around in a burrow and enough of them came home: up from 0.88 yesterday to 1.2 today, so got the ok for poisons. SO… more waiting, this time waiting for prescription for Emend to be signed and filled. That took about an hour. Then took Emend and WAIT for another hour for that to take effect. WAIT another 45 mins for lovely chemo nurses to be ready for me. 45 mins later I have had my LAST poisons (fingers crossed - and I will always be saying “fingers crossed” when anyone uses the “last one” phrase). Then WAIT for the pharmacy to have my post-FEC meds prepared. By this stage I was so knackered I actually dozed off and the pharmacy lady had to wake me up - gently, thank goodness. I did jump a bit but fortunately didn’t have drool running down my chin. Not convinced I hadn’t been talking in my sleep…

Then WAIT to clear up the confusion with my Herceptin appointments. What I had written down was 21 days from today but the reception ladies had me down for 20 days from today. Nursey said that that’s not allowed, so WAITED for appointment to be changed.

Woohoo - finally let out! Bit of retail therapy in the hospital, bought two summer frocks and a couple of wraps. Thinking of the Jenny Joseph poem “I will wear purple” or whatever it’s called, one of them is a lovely loud shade of purple, so I will be wearing it in the JM tonight. Don’t expect me to respond to your cries of congratulations as I will be asleep. I can see the dormice heading over the hill. They like my tent and think it’s very comfortable, as long as I keep the squirrel-murderer out of the way.

Can I please reserve the comfy cushions in the JM for this evening? I feel I ought to mark the occasion of “Last One (fingers crossed)” but don’t have much ooomph. Please also put the cushions near the loo, still trying to pee out all the pink.

There, you’ve had this evening’s essay. The remote controlled wheelbarrow is around here somewhere but, like the freeview box in my living room, the remote control has done a runner. Perhaps the newts nicked them both and took them down the burrows with the eyebrows? I reckon they’ve got a very comfy set-up in those burrows, what with tellies, and they’ve probably been syphoning off the drink from the cellar at the JM.

Think it’s time for an avatar change - wonder who I look most like at the moment?

Blimey CM that wasn’t so much a hospital visit more like a flipping saga, I do hope that you can relax for the next few days and that all SE’s are not so bad hun.
Big ((((Hugs)))).

Congrats CM - so pleased you got your own back on the newt nickers

Meet my new avatar. She (?) is a loris - a very slow-moving animal from Indonesia that has venomous elbows!

I thought the shadows around the eyes were appropriate, and notice the fluffy hair on the head. Fortunately I don’t have the same quantity of body hair, but slow-moving, dark baggy shadows under eyes, a bit “rounded”, “tropical” describes the odd “moments” very well (said in my best Bruce Forsyth voice - “Duvet game? Good game, good game!”).

And likes cuddles.

Again blimey CM, chemo brain kept kicking in for me whilst reading your novellette, had to read it twice and concentrate really hard but gosh, you really had big session, I’m surprised they didn’t charge you rent! Congrats on the ‘last FECcing one’ though, definately deserves a chink of fizz in the JM later on… mine’s a festival strength pear cider and perhaps a batch of hot fresh sugary doughnuts on way back to tent, mmmmmhhhhhh…

Well done CM.

Must say this is a very nice layby but I’m fed up with sitting in it now. Having waded through rads rushes the dodgy bone scan result with “hotspot” crept up on me unaware but despite them saying it could be something else and is unlikely to be sinister, that doesn’t make me feel any better waiting for the MRI results. Feels like some “go straight to jail” kind of loop back to the beginning or parking up in the said layby watching other people zooming past.

Must say I’m getting quite used to my seat on the bench in the layby now. Got through a fair number of sarnies and flasks of tea while I’m idling here though xx

Must say I’m loving the long still evenings, the bats are out in force - a joy to watch, eating up all of the bitey things (I think that’s what they’re after, but not sure), the lights twinkling in the woods, sounds of laughter coming from the JM, camp fire well and truly roaring, cushions fully plumped and great company - all we need is some gentle strumming, a soft and melodious voice (not mine, I’m rubbish at crooning) to send us pleasantly off to the land of nod…
Pleasant dreams campers!

MG, I’ve got some jump leads, if you’re still stuck in the layby tomorrow I’ll drop in and give your motor a blast. I’ve even borrowed a spanner to get the flat batttery out of my bike so I’m well “tooled up”.

Bloomin tropical moments - more like volcano moments! Have had 5 or 6 this evening so definitely the chemo. I hadn’t had any for the last few days as the other SE’s wore down a bit.

And if the jump leads don’t work, I have an old wet fish somewhere in my panniers - we’ll get you out of that layby or the soggy haddock will be making an appearance!

CM - thats fab - wow what a day u had, as always i feel inspired by what u write, and next Weds i will join u in “last one” woo hoo! had onc appt today and my red cells are in full force so no blood trans and even in week 2 my white neutrowatsits in force!!! the end is nigh for poisoning me oh yes yes yes"“”“”“”“”“”“”"!!!Sharxxxxxxx

Hi buddies
CM what an encore…poor you but at last that bit is over. Enjoy your zzzzzz.
MG I’m really sorry that you are now playing the waiting game again I hope it is nothing. I’ll be quite happy to sit with you for a while if it helps perhaps we can play cards and have a few bevvies.
The camp fire is sending out a lovely mellow warmth it must be time for us to settle down. Maybe we could start a choir together we could be melodic… we could be good…no on second thoughts with all our fairies and elves we would be fantastic.

Great stuff, Shar. Your tent has been looking a bit neglected, and there are loads of cobwebs for you to clear out. But not tonight! Tonight pull up a pew in the JM and carouse to your heart’s content. At least now we know where all the blood cells have been hiding. Thanks for sparing me a few today.

I promise I’ll give you a ring, I’ve been meaning to for days but only think “I must ring Shar!” after about 10pm, which is probably too late.

Woodlanders, we need to prepare the camp to welcome home SCACO, who started the thread and introduced us all to the woods and the campsite. She’s in for her amputation today but I think we should do something special to welcome her home again when she wakes up. Any suggestions?

I am happy to decorate the Jingling Merkin, but to make it special I might need to borrow a few merkins. I have a fluffy pink one but that won’t go far in the decorating stakes, so can I borrow any more?

Fairy lights are a MUST round the campsite, hopefully they will entice the fairies to join us. We have to make sure BringItOn is there (with all her seven sisters, all called BringItOn), and the GetWellSoon fairy, along with the NoPain fairy. And all the others.

I have a purple merkin with purple vajazzle jewels on it that you could borrow.
I also have a set of blue LEDs that twinkle “Jingling Merkin” (or they will when I’ve fixed them into that position with gaffer tape).

Twisted Nipple need to do a welcome home gig - maybe some of our quieter numbers (if we have any of those) i think some of the fairies are keen to work on a dance routine to enhance the experience alongside any table dancing from MG

I’ll clean up the remote controlled wheelbarrow and give it a new paint jobbie just in casr SCACO needs taking closer to the red wine.

hugs all
D xx

I’ve just been into Shar’s tent with the Dyson and put some fresh flowers in for her and plumped up the cushions.

Anyone want some freesias? Got some spare for the other tents if needed. they smell lovely.
