Standing outside the dark, dark woods.

have plenty of free falling hair for people to shove up thier noses if wanted. The pillow was like a furry animal this morning :frowning: , WoeIsMe and Reality Fairies have found me , wasn’t exactly unexpected so why so miserable?

OH has offered to shave off beard when I’m bald to keep me company though, should be a laugh, he’s had it since the Jurrasic…

LiF Will be thinking of wonderful men frozen onto pushbikes in Cornwall today, may all the pot holes be little ones!

I hate to say this, but every since going through menopause–twice actually, once naturally and once after 6 years of HRT, my body thermostat has simply packed up. I can go from hot to cold and back again in a very short time. I can’t bear over-heated rooms, such as one I used to teach in, at all, and exertion leaves not a healthy glow but a scarlet flare for far longer than it used to.

I hope that those of you going through an artificial menopause with treatment will recover your body thermostats later on, though that may have to wait until after anti-oestrogen.

I find moisturising wipes handy to carry around for quick mopping sessions. Leaving one on the back of the neck or down the cleavage can help. (And you can wet them to re-use if you hate to throw things away after a single use.) Spray fans are good as well.

Cheryl

Thanks for the tips Cheryl - keep them coming, please!! Have a feeling that bright red face is a se after FEC anyhow? Sure the nurse mentioned it yesterday, and whilst I don’t think I’ve had it before, am today closely resembling someone who has had a chemical peel… though obviously without the benefits of no orange peel skin or lumps n bumps… hoping this fades fast, cos it’s NOT a good look. Even the baseball cap peak can’t hide this one!!!

LiF - if I could shake the bloomin hotflushhobbit off my back, I’d be drop-kicking her straight down to Devon, not sure you’d thank me for her though, after the initial ‘ooh, it’s warm’ had worn off. Brilliant news about the mad cyclists, fingers crossed they stay on their time schedule - sounds good tho!

Must go let the hounds of hell out… and, no, not another woodmonster, but the genuine four legged articles wailing in the conservatory at the monent. Outside ‘looks’ lovely, but they’ll be wailing to come back in five seconds later…

Oh yes you can get a scarlet or crimson face I think from one of the steroids, and I think you have to wait for that to go away or try to cover it up. But if hot flushes give you a red face, cooling down may help or at least you feel better. I found that even thinking about a flush could be enough to bring one on.

Cheryl

Janipi, think there might actually be both varieties- as one has been dogging my every footstep…previously they have been more severe, I’ve sweated like the proverbial pig, and they’ve gone. As you say Sophie, mine now seem to linger.

HAIRY and SWEATY upper lip anyone???
Tracey

Oooh, lovely Tracey. Vogue cover shot coming up xxx

Yes, I’m the one singing, christina aguilera’s (no idea how she spells it, and don’t care), 'i am beautiful, no matter what they say…

Just to let you know that I have torched the I’mGoingToDie Tent that appeared in the field next to us last week so no more of that nonsense.

Not suffering from any flushes as yet but would welcome them a little as am flippin freezing with this haircut. Considering collecting remaining hair (lingering elsewhere) and creativly using ‘double-sided sticky tape’ to make a wig. Wore a proper yesterday and it drove me mad. Mind you, think the texture of said hair might not look so good on my head as it does where it is.

Off to FEC2 base on Monday - get the camp fire burning.

Hi All,

I’ve just surprised the hairdresser as he cut my hair v short about what I COULD use the waste for ( Merkins, nose plaits etc), he hadn’t translated the looseyourhair gremlin into reality! I admit the only hairy bit I really don’t want to loose is the eyelashes, anyone got any advice on that one?!
I’ve been doing the whole body morphine chemical peel since surgery so hoping it doesn’t happen with steroids. The bodymoisturiser fairy will need to come & visit again please…

LiF - I hope the cyclists have got to Liskeard safely and thawed out, Thank you fellas for your support

Cyclists now aproaching Exeter…which is half way…will be meeting them with bacon butties later…don’t think they will be able to sit down tomorrow!

Please can we have a knitting tent …in fact will go and pitch one…woolly hats a must coz I have a flipping cold head with out!

H - I think you can get ‘permanent’ eyelashes, which i’m going to look into as a local salon offers it here.

I’m more bothered about eyelashes and eyebrows than full on hair. Maybe another use for said remaining lady-hair! Bit curly though.

Great photo, well done,

What a great thread!! It has made me giggle like a mad woman, when my hubby asked what I was reading and I told him I was on the BCC site I think he thought I’d finally lost it!!
Hope you don’t mind me going back a few pages to the topic of the merkin?? I was thinking what we really need is vajazzled, this was suggested to me at my last waxing as a great valentine gift idea. Basically they give you a hollywood wax, which most of us on chemo will naturally have, they then give your bare lady garden a sparkly makeover with crystals, to enhance its appearance - honest!! I just looked at the beauty therapist as if she was crazy, but now… ha ha. Anyway not sure how to put a link on here, so goggle it at your own risk.
Hope everyone has a great Saturday night (and stay away from your childrens craft boxes!!) Donna xxx

SCACO - great pic… you are just as gorgeous with your crop! Funnily enough, it’s the eyelash, eyebrow thing which bothers me far more, and always has - no hair is one thing, but losing eye furniture is just so…alien. I’ve invested in false eyelashes, but have never actually tried putting them on before, so they may well remain in the packet… and I got a set of eyebrow stencils off ebay, along with a decent eyebrow pencil. Browzings eye make-up is pretty highly rated, so may invest if I need to (and I’m sure TAX will take care of that issue fast). Also, hoping that our local beauty class for cancer vixens will be up and running soon - it’s not LGFB but a little local one that does same thing, and far from being booked up, she has to wait to run a class until she has four or five women waiting… so hoping at least one more rings up soon!

Hi Sophie, I’m sure I probably knew this but my brain cell has gone away for the weekend… Where abouts in the country are you because I could certainly do with some beautifying!! x

Evening ladies, glad to see the party carried on after I left. I’ve just spent the day in a swimming pool officiating for a load of Masters swimmers, i.e. anyone over 18. Such a fun day, but I’m completely knackered now. Perhaps booking myself in to do that just 3 days after surgery was a little foolish. Tit is aching a bit, probably because you have to keep bending down to pick up the timekeeper’s button thingy. Oh well, Co-codamol down neck again this afternoon is taking the edge off. It was worth it though, for my mental well-being, as I’ve had a day doing stuff I did before BC dragged me into the woods, and it was lovely and happy and smiley. (I even saw a lady who is 80 this year break several world records for her age group - truly inspirational and I hope I’ll be as active as her when I’m 80. I can’t say that I’ll be as FAST as her in the pool, because I’m way slower than her now, let alone when I’ve added a few years to my total.)

Well done to the pyromaniac who burned that tent. Just make sure you’re very careful and keep the matches away from some of the other tents that we want to keep!

Off out again now, this time to a do at the local working men’s club where the dad of a friend of one of my daughters is playing, with his band. Should be quite fun, but I’ll be very, very tired at the end of the evening, I’m sure.

So carry on partying (but don’t drop those crystals all over the place!) and I’ll see you tomorrow evening. Be good, and if you can’t be good, enjoy yourselves being naughty!

…well knew Merkins but ?vajazzled and I’ve been worrying about bio-sculpture gel nails!!

Think once we’re in the woods, they’re not so dark and the shadows are friends.

LIF - I feel so sorry for those mad bikers and my OH was complaining about heel blisters(admittedly the worst I’ve seen)but he hadn;t broken in his walking boots. After first child I had salt baths for weeks and sat on rubber ring for a month but I reckon those guys will be a little tender!, Barbara

Just reading all today’s posts- been too busy!Concerned about couple of issues!
I’ve been having hot flushes for years - maybe they’ll go away with chemo? Aye right ! Prob not be able to wear the wig- it’ll get washed off at regular intervals with the sweat!
I’m really disappointed about the facial hair! Thought the chin and upper lip wires would go as well ! Specially the white ones.
Bye the way, does the blue dye eventually disappear from around the nipple?
I’d love a knitting tent and a baking tent! After putting away the needles and mixer at least ten years ago I’ve been knitting and baking for Scotland. Hat and scarf, slippers another hat and half a waistcoat in 3 weeks. 3large cloutie dumplings, countless cup cakes, 2 chocolate cakes ,millionaires shortbread, 5 fruit loaves and choc fridge cake!!! Took me two years to lose under 2 stone and since middle of december I’ve put on 10lbs!
