Welcome to the woods, Caroline. It’s a lovely place. Nannabarb, I agree about your profile pic being wonderful–I’m keep glimpsing her on my screen as I type, and she’s a real love–gives me hope just to see her!
Scotland sounds divine, Cackles. Last time we went (a couple of years ago), we stayed in Roslyn at a house that had once been an Inn. The poet Robert Burns had walked there from Edinburgh with a mate one night after a drink or three (he might fit right in at the JM…) and arrived in time for breakfast which was: porridge with whisky in! He called it “brose”. We enthusiastically sampled it one morning and it was nice–but the grilled brown sugar sounds a divine addition. This is making me morn for my Scotland trip, we would have been leaving today : (
And worry tree? from where I sit it looks more like a thicket–I keep getting lost in there on the way home from the JM… this time it’s liver cancer… Feckit, here boy!
Ah well, nothing like a party to cheer everyone up. I still haven’t figured out what I can be, but I hope it involves face paint. Just thinking about it sets me up for the day–have a good one, ladies.
wrong order again!
good grief! THe FearFamily Gremlins have been breeding rapidly! I’m cupping some of the Hope family in my hands to warm them up… there… they’ve flown off to you…
Now, where’s my flamethrower… Soddit HEAL! (In every sense!!!) He’s missed your cuddles Cackles, and is on his way…
welcome to some fellow travellers through the Woods - you will make your own madness (I hope!) We had such support and laughter… It’s great to see the tents filled and the bloomers and flags flying…
Back to NEDLAND for the day - see you later
Jane xx
Morning All,
Hi Caroline and welcome xxx My tent is the one with the thong flying outside as can’t wear them anymore and have 6 cats going in and out and a de-ranged cockatoo on guard:) I’m the one in the oversize PJ’s and look like a dalmation…will only need face painting with black spots please to complete my fancy dress:)
Think got lost in googleland yesterday cos had a stiff neck…stupid really as I’d spent all afternoon on the PC at work doing a long report and must have been sitting strangely as am fine this morning. Think will get Dr Who and the tardis to tow googleland into another universe lolol.
Well, I’m off to have a session of Reiki healing this morning…am totally open minded about it as had no real idea what it was until I googled (opps maybe googland will only have to go if we’re googling bad thoughts)
Hugs to anyone having check ups today xxx
Ahhh, think will nip to early morning brekkie at the JM first as could murder a bacon sarnie with brown sauce of course:)
Worry tree now felled and put on the bonfire. Thanks for the help with the sawing Apple. Soddit was a great help Jane. Perhaps we ought to send him to Supertrouper to teach her puddling mutt what a good dog is like. As you say Quail the thicket is there for all of us. Nevermind we all know it does thin out so quickly when all the Woodies help with the clearing.
I have finished the dreaded ironing so life is good again!!!
Please save a bacon butty for me Kittyqueen …not too much sauce on mine. Nannabarb the greatest thing you can have is a Grandchild. They are a joy…plus you can give them back if they get too lively
Jellytot did you mention chocolate brownies? I am so glad you found the Woods…just the sort of people we like. As are you Caroline60. Welcome to the clearing where positivethinking and Bringiton roam. See you in the JM.
Ali H will selective internet browsing please pass me a small Bucks Fizz… It must be over the Yardarm somewhere.
Hardly worth getting the glass dirty for a small one Cackles…let’s each have a humungous bucks fizz to celebrate you having finished your ironing and me happily ignoring mine!
quail…have you been having a visit from the evil fairies…paranoia and hyperchondria as well?..they chased away my sleep fairy…aching all over last night…new pack of tam…different brand…again…paranoia and hyperchondria were flying about and my cancer monkey escaped from his cage at the back of my head…came back to my tent in these woods…this is where I go when this happens…it’s so comforting…well in the end…I rang Dr I Buprofen he told me to chuck the fairies in the lagoon and then helped my to put that rotten monkey back in his cage…glad you have finished the ironing Cackles…my iron is currently being ballast for a laundry basket boat on the canal…and it can stay there until tomorrow…the bonfire is needed at the moment it’s really chilly today…no small measures allowed in the JM…so large glass of white please barperson…the sun hasn’t even made an appearance in the Nwest today so I don’t know if it’s over the yardarm or not!!!
Just on my way to the JM for a large glass of red, then I’m going to make some toffee apples and treacle toffee for the party tomorrow and I might make a curry too or maybe a chilli if you all fancy it? Reiki was very good vey relaxing…will be intersting to see if the chilled feeling lasts until bedtime…
KQ - I love toffee apples so that’s a yes please from me! Let’s pop some jacket potatoes in the oven to go with your chilli as well - sounds fab
This party is gonna be amazing!
Just one request, can we make sure there’s no singing from PB?

Brief visit to Stalag Luft II this morning for my 6 month check up. Back in my tent with a hot gin based takeaway from the JM bar. If it keeps raining I am worried that the canal with breach its bank and flood the pebbled path that leads to benchland. Ideas anyone?
Dear all, Is the Sentinal Node imaging one of the tests you need to go through? Im having mine the day before surgery - I was not aware of this scan - or maybe I did not hear the consultant mentioning this. The appointment gave me the hebe gebees.
Thanks
Hi nanabarb, i didnt realise i tagged you - actually dont know what a tag is if im honest. Im so pleased for you linked me to this thread. They are all really funny - and are so positive its infectious.
I like the thought of alcohol shoes and cake.
Caroline - I had a sentinal node imaging done - unfortunately mine tested positive and I had to have the lot out. This was done at the same time as my mx.
Don’t we all.
Don’t forget we have a lagoon ST, I think a few woodies might still be on the sunloungers or spa tent round there - that’s if they aren’t in the patisserie yurt or the JM. Seem to remember a couple of swan shaped pedalos and a few liLos found their way in there. Probably a bit chilly at this time of year but I guess we might channel some of the excess water in there in case of a heat wave next summer (ha, ha).
Welcome to all woodies, new and old. I am still over in Tamoxifen Towers and I have to say the thermostat over there is still pretty unpredictable, but it is lovely to see the tents inhabited again (obviously I wish none of us had to pass this way, but if we do, this is the best place to find good cheer, love and laughter to help you along the way) and that the new woodies behave just as uproariously (!!!) as the original woodies.
For anyone who has read back to the beginning, some of the originals - myself, 021210, Mezzomamma, SJM, LiF and Sarahbeara went to LostinFrance’s a few weeks back to plant a tree in memory of SCACO in her real wood, which is mentioned somewhere at the beginning of the thread and was truly beautiful - not to mention being possessed of a woodies campfire and bench for sing songs and toasting of marshmallows. eventually we decided in favour of “adopting” and existing tree and chose a tall, slender, beautiful tree which overlooks the woods, giving shelter and protection to all those walk pass through the woods. We drank a toast to all woodies, past and present and to the memory of our beautiful SCaCO.
A party sounds like an excellent idea and entirely fitting for see DDW, I shall set them up in the JM later for anyone who cares to join me
MG xx
Oh MG…you made me cry…what a wonderful thing to do…SCACO was a truly lovely person…she was so kind to me when I first entered these woods…she was funny and feisty…she made me feel less afraid when first dx…I never met her in the real world but we had some conversations in here and on differernt threads…I will gladly join you in the JM…we can raise a glass to a wonderful woman…
Hello lovely Woodies, seems a while since I last popped in from NED or Benchland, but I thought I’d let you know I’ve been in to the Chapel of St Raphael in the Woods with my duster and polish to get it all spruced up ready for the weekend. Some of you will recall it was Sivam who found the chapel and was its guardian for many, many months, ensuring there was always at least one candle burning.
Today there are several candles burning brightly to honour absent friends. The door is always open, and the chapel is a quiet place to retreat for a while if needed. Lots of spare candles if anyone wants to light some. Or just sit a while in the flickering light. Light a Candle - Grateful Living Practice - Grateful.org
Marygrace, that sounds so beautiful and utterly fitting a tribute to dear, dear SCACO. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Looking forward to the weekend merriment! Lashings of ginger beer being imported from Benchland
Mary Grace what a fantastic thing to adopt. SCACO and the rest of you keep me calm and helped with my sanity during chemo. You were all so supportive of the new woodies lurking on the edge needing guidance to find our way. Now the fantastic Woods are inhabited again by yet more lovely people who like the black humour. I salute everybody…
You are so correct Ali H pass a large Gin please barman… I am off to watch the swans on the lagoon gliding above the paddling madly webbed feet which nobody sees. … Just like all of us in the Dark Dark Wood or in the Land of NED.
Caroline it is as Supertrouper said…a test to see if your nodes are affected. If they are the surgeon will remove them during surgery. It can save a further operation to remove them later. If not you won’t need a clearance and this reduces the possibility of getting lymphoedema. All fingers crossed for you…welcome to the woods by the way. I have used this Forum for over a year and also don’t understand “tags”! But I am computer illiterate. Revcat, Supertrouper GIJane Applestreet etc all appear to understand the technical side. Perhaps they will enlighten us.
Big Hug to one and all…now where is that food especially Jellytots baked spuds… and revcats GIN…ger beer?
Dear all, thank you for this. My lovely son just telephoned asking am I allowed to drink alcohol. I didnt hesitate to say yes. This made me laugh - bless him. Pino anything will do.
