Morning all… Ihave to say I dont like the way the site is now working - was really easy to search posts before… now i just dont get it!
Sue - i was wondering where you had gone…I’d looked through some earlier threads and there are quite a few gals that joined in the earlier days but have not posted for a while…
…you must be enormously strong and so good that you did get some good news…
…what treatment are you on?
Mx

Morning all,

It’s the site that’s crackers now, hope this gets through.

Good to see you again MZ and Shawshank. Good luck today MZ , glad you are able to do “normal”, please pop in and tell us how you are every so often. Good luck too for today Shawshank, really good news about SHRINKING! Really hope the good news keeps coming today, fingers and toes crossed, x

Mandy - can I have some of those pills please?..

Happy birthday Cybele, hope there is more salted fudge and less sfx, try to focus on the rather spectacular early birthday you had with BigSisFo and the extra one you can have when you get to the “good” week. I used to favour 2 birthdays, like the queen, but under the circumstances, I now prefer 3.

Hi tit sisters!
Cress - what is the pink form that lets you jump the queue and where do I get one from? ill ask my bcn but does the form have a name.
Sue - how many chemos did you have before your tumour started shrinking?
As if yesterday couldnt get any more bizarre this happened: my son is doing a gap year and works in a chinese takeaway. he phoned to say that they had run out of bananas but had an order for banana fritters. Did we have any bananas at home? so he ran home and ransacked the fruit bowl!!! I am now a supplier for the local chinese restaurant!!!

Hi All. I love the idea of tit sisters, we can all stick together with turksh delight!

Maire, how’s your car, did you manage to get it sorted out without losing the plot?

QD, thanks for the warning about wind wigs, it’s very blowy out there so I made sure I had a hooded coat on today when I went into town. I kept saying to my OH ‘how’s it looking now?’

Cress, you always cheer me up, I think I may try behaving badly when I go back to work. My HR Manager is also a friend and she’s kept me up to date with the office goings on. Apparently people keep asking what’s wrong with me, not how I am but what’s wrong with me. It’s not the women asking either, it’s the men. How rude!

MZ, how are you coping with work? I’m thinking of going back quite soon as I want my life to feel a little bit more ‘normal’.

Cybele, sorry I missed yesterday, not a good day for me, but a belated happy birthday!

Hugs to all.

QD - whoever requests the blood test (probably the chemo unit) can usually choose an “urgent” option. My chemo unit tick “urgent” and also print it out pink so the numpties in phlebotomy can’t miss it. When they give you the form, tell them about how you had to wait hours in a room full of sneezing people (exaggerate freely) and ask for it to be “urgent”. This also means that the results are back in 1 hour so you can find out if you have failed before you trek to the unit. I am surprised (why, oh why do I keep being being surprised???) that it is not routine for chemo blood tests to be urgent. Also go in the afternoon - the morning is full of people who need fasting blood tests so have been starving themselves overnight. It is, of course, even funnier to jump that queue. x

hi just read last post about Bloods, i have mine done on the Monday before Chemo on Tuesday, i have to wait there for a little while then they come back with results with in minuets so i know i am good to go the next day for Chemo, strange how different hospitals do thing differently.

Cybele, happy birthday hope you had a good one,
lolly

hi to you all sorry not been here for a while.
Went on Tuesday to have Picc Line flushed, had a bit of a melt down and was very short of breath but been having that since the wed after Chemo. Nurses got worried about me and started to do an ECG followes by an ultra sound scan as i have a swelling under arm where Picc Line is, then admitted to hospital of suspect blood clot to lungs or Under arm, luckly under arm scan found nothing, xray to chest found nothing, so had to be admitted for a CT scan to make sure lungs are clear, that was Tuesday, had to stay in over night for CT scan results in the mean time pumpped for of Anti boitics of incase infection was lurking, Wed didnt get CT scan till Wed afternoon so another night in hosp for results. All good no clots just infection they think !!but feeling much better still short of breath but not as bad, so been let home at 3pm today prommising i will go back tommorrow for more blood tests as white cells are still to low.
But apart from that im good.
Hope you are all well as can b,e will read all posts now as got a 48 i havent read so will catch up with everyone and keep on keeping on

Lolly-Sounds like you had a scary time. Glad everything has come back clear though.
Hamley-Car saga continues: had to go into Glasgow to pick up courtesy car which was quite scary as I’ve only ever driven my trusty wee Suzuki. Didn’t know what half the buttons were on fancy new hire car, had to navigate Glasgow’s one way system and do lots of hill starts at traffic lights on one of Glasgow’s steep hills then had to drive through several rivers on way home. But I feel quite proud that I did it. Trusty wee Suzuki now off to garage. They better treat her well. I love that wee car.
Shawshank-Glad to hear from you. Keep busting those cancer cells!
Mz-How are you finding the heceptin? I’ve had my first ‘loading dose’. Hard to determine where all the se’s are coming from: chemo or herceptin.
Cybele-Glad to hear you’re on the up. Happy Birthday. On the subject of death-hope you caught some of the Up Helly Aa shenanigans recently. Those Shetlanders know how to do a good Viking celebration.
Mandy-I know I shouldn’t but your wig story made me laugh and laugh. Let me tell you I held on tight to my wig/hat combo today because it was nearly whipped into a local reservoir.
Cressida-Hope you’re feeling fine and keeping all the annoying people you encounter well and truly in line!!
I’m heading for my next chemo/herceptin combo in 6 days. Really dreading this one as I still feel I’m not quite recovered from last lot. Today’s ailment is sensitive skin. I seem to be having wee allergic type reactions to all sorts of odd things e.g watch strap, knicker elastic, wig (yes, Cher is making my ears burn!). Have a feeling it’s the herceptin…
Right, off out into the wilds to ‘baldy go’ in this fancy modern car and pick up pesky teenage offspring x 2

Cress - you are one funny lady!!! I will certainly ask for a pink form next time.
Lolly -you have b een having a nitemare. hope you get fully sorted soon.
Maire - well done on the car situation!I know how you feel abut not being ready for the next lot. i’m being poisoned tomorrow and im still shedding skin!!! half of me is pleased that 20% less should mean less sfx but will that mean that the stupid lump isnt getting enough to kill it - especially as it isnt shrinking? Its all very worrying.
I was telling my firend about my wig blowing off and she said “oh you need titty tape to keep it on!” still don’t think she worked out why I was laughing so much!
once more into the breach as they say! x

Happy Birthday Cybele - hope you were well enough to enjoy yourself. Love reading your Blog. Was explaining to my husband at breakfast today your “Plan B” scheme involving the Northern Lights which I thought was amazing, the perfect escape. My husband, however, appeared rather stunned as I related your ideas to him, and has been following me around closely all day with a strange bewildered look in his eye. Must be sure to pack the sleeping bag out of sight lest I worry him further.
It was one of my dogs’ birthday today too!

Morning all,

Lolly - really glad no evidence of blood clots, although, even if you have them they can be dissolved by injections. I had one on my PICC line and was then on daily injections. Sounds bad, but they are easy to do yourself, especially if you have nice fat tum. Obviously, it is much better not to have blood clot tho. xx

Maire - bit rubbish to be allergic to everything, even your own wig, not fair. Presume you have tried antihistamines? Well done on driving fancy hire car with chemo brain. I am now a rubbish driver with very little concentration. I still carry on driving in week 3, as I reckon I am still better than most of the other idiots I encounter. I have been told I am quite good “for a girl on drugs”…

Shawshank - how great that all this sh*t is actually working. Sending you positive vibes for it to carry on, xx

Cybele - Yay to halfway!

Whilst I am feeling OK I am thinking about trying to have a small holiday - difficult to plan when my nuet count could move any chemo at any time. So far I have booked one night in a Holiday Inn in Northampton, but that is to go to a party. Still yearn for something a bit more glamorous. I know its hard to get much more glamorous than a night at junction 15, but any ideas?

xxxx

hi,
just got back from hospital my Picc line was bleeding again so had to have a full dressing changed, and my full blood counts where done. My white cells should be about 1.5 at this time and mine is 0.09 so got to have 7 days of injections to try and boost them up again so got to hibernate and stay away from eveyone at the moment, i can at least give the injections myself so wont have to have disrtrict nurse round every day.
Hope you are all ok still havent read all posts yet so feeling a bit out of touch with how everyone is getting on, but i hope you are coping well, promise i will try and read them, just very tired all the time and loose the inteast to read. all except the Blog love it speacial the northen light well done cybele.
take care all of you,
lolly

BorderCollies and Lolly, thank you very much - am very happy to know you are enjoying the blog!
The Northern Lights post seems to have appealed to a lot of people, which is nice. I’m perfectly serious about it, btw.
If it comes down to it, there is NO WAY I am having some d*** head doctor tell me to stop whining because a painful death is generally very well-tolerated.
‘Well-tolerated’ has kind of become my anti-mantra… it drives me nuts.
But then this disease has driven me fairly nuts in general.
I am feeling a lot better now, but horribly weak again. I still can’t work out how people can do chemo and go on holding down a full-time job…
I’ve kind of losttrack of where everyone is because I’ve been so demented for the last week, but

Lolly - sorry to hear about your PICC line probs and white cells - hope you feel better soon xx
Sue YAY for the good news!
Cress I feel we two could have been a very effective small Commando unit in WWII
QD hope the poisoning wasn’t too horrible
Maire - skin thing sounds vile, hope it abates soon. And I’d so love to go to the Up Helly thing, it looks amazing!
Hamley, hope things are starting to look up - have idea you’re a couple of days behind me in cycle. so hopefully you should be feeling a bit better for weekend
love and hugs to all xxxxx
