Nicola, thanks for getting back to me, I had to go away and decide whether to have the chemo or not, I spoke to the nurse last week and she was going to arrange for them to contact me, If I havent heard anything by Monday I will give her a ring back…
day 2, still not been sick, drank some tonic water during the night which seemed to settle me. still got that hungover feeling and an odd taste in my mouth, throat .
off to eyam carnival today but no alcohol!!
Chatsworth country fair tomorrow if I am feeling ok.
have booked in for a session of look good feel better at weston park in sheffield where you get lots of tips and free goodies.
I’ll take anything.
Has anyone else got a fiT to work sick note? evidently it covers you so you can work if you feel ok and stops you having to have lots of sick notes. I work for the council and have a good manager who is happy for me to do this also I can do a lot of work at home.
Not had the cold mittens I am going to carry on with my gel nails and have my toes done as well as I have read threads that says this helps.
Funny isn’t it that I am more bothered about my nails than my hair!
Welcome blond girl, Mary , Sonia and hope you enjoyed your holiday Ginge.
That is impressive, going out and about already! Day 3 for me and I am still to tired to go out. Might try to go for a walk later when it has cooled down (it is still 25 degrees here at the mo)
I scared myself a bit this morning as I had a tight feeling in my chest and was a little bit breathless. I got straight on the phone to my hospital and they were brilliant. They reassured me that they were not concerned and just to rest and keep an eye on my temperature, which was normal. I took there advice and am feeling much better now. It might have been a bit of anxiety.
Good luck to all the Sept chemo starters, I began the tread staring chemo in March and now its Sept and chemo and rads all done. hair started to grow, and I send all my love an cyber hugs to you all. it does not seem like 5 mins since I began the journey and now I celebrate and go to Cyprus on Tues. I had FEC T, if anyone has any questions or concerns pleased feel free to pm me or put on here, glad to help. love Shar xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Wishing you all well as you start to climb Mt Chemo. I was where you are this time last year. Climb at your own pace (i.e. be kind to yourselves and don’t worry if other people seem to get less or different s.e.'s) and take rests when you need to. Make the best of ‘week 3’ with a few treats of the sort you need/like.
And remember we who have already made the climb are cheering you on. You can, and will do this!
Special hug for SGL who starts exactly a year behind me and who started this thread. Go well girls, and I may pop back from time to time to visit you.
boy have I missed these forums while they were down I’m very scared now - chemo starting tomorrow 6 x Taxotere and AC just want to know what to expect and how I’m going to feel.
Hope you are all having a good day can’t believe the children are back at school and it has rained on both trips today lol worrying about how the wig will hold up! xxxxxxxxxx
Hi eozer…
A couple of the girls have started and have posted since a couple of pages back, and if my memory serves me right I think Ginge starts tomorrow too…
I wish you lots of luck tomorrow, and you too Ginge, if I am right…
The unknown is so scary but from what I’ve read its not as bad as we imagine it is going to be…
thank you for posts and good luck fingers crossed not to bad but doesn’t seem to be much info on TAC mainly FEC not sure if thats good or bad wish I would stop thinking of things to deeply but hey hoo guess tomorrow and the following few days I will find out x
I meant to come and wish you all good luck on the 1st of Sept - but it zoomed by (where’s the summer gone!) and then the forum’s been down.
I started my chemo in June and have my last one next week. I just wanted to wish you all well. I was TERRIFIED before I started. The word “chemo” was so scary. But it has been SO much better than I expected. Side effects seem to vary so much and I’ve been really lucky so far. I felt queasy with AC but was never sick - just felt hungover and tired for a few days afterwards and the only thing to help the queasiness was to eat for England. And TAX has been really kind to me so far - no sickness and much more energy. My advice would be to be kind to yourself and listen to your body for the first round and keep a diary of your side effects as they tend to be the same on the same days each session. You can then plan nice things to do on the days that you feel good and know when you’re going to need to take it easy. It also means that you will have a log of side effects to go through with your onc/bcn so that if you have any nasty side effects (from constipation to sickness to acid reflux) they’ll be able to give you medication to combat them.
Good luck September girls. Getting closer to the finish line now!!
Hi Girls
Ginge here after a couple of glasses of wine and willing if not ready for chemo tomorrow!!! Everyone talking aboug FEC?? I’m having AC?? and the Taxol. Anyone else having this? Had my gel nails today, coral colour so you can visualise them!! hopefully help keep them healthy. Where did the sun go over the weekend? Taking my hotwater bottle, blanket and scarf with me to keep me warm. To be honest not that bothered about my hair but worth giving it a go. Good luck to all of you starting this week. Thinking of you. xxx I’m due to start 6 x FEC on 19th. Utterly petrified, but taking a lot of comfort from this thread.
