Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Right,  I’m having the smoked haddock main course please. Oh hang on, I’m not going!:smileysad:  Seriously it sounds great, hope you all have a lovely time JCJ.

I have booked a table for lunch on Friday.  You might say it’s ONLY a pub lunch but we’ve been there before and the food is good, really good!  It will be nice to get together, just us adults, without any children to look after.

Seems you’re really busy babysitting for a birthday too Katy. I did my Sat. night babysitting last week. Youngest GD was already in bed when I arrived but 10 year old I was told to put to bed at 9.00pm.  I always arrive for babysitting with treats and goodies to eat, so we watched Strictly and then DVD’s of her choice and she went to bed at about 9.45.  I always stretch bedtime as long as they are behaving.  All grandchildren love having me babysit as I don’t always apply the rules that their parents do!

Out for tea with GD, we had a really nice meal, yum, yum!!!

Speaking of meals, menu looks fab JCJ, have you been before??

FF, have a lovely time today.

Off into town later to get the things I forgot on Tues???

GS tomorrow, he has a cold so feeling a bit sorry for himself.

Away to have a muggatea and a seat on the “CBA” bench until further notice…

PS, Mother will NOT be a contender in the chariot race, she said “think you’ll be getting this…”, grrrrrrrrrr xx

Corr-lummey, this is like a cross between Benchlandale and Benchland Street with all the domestics  going on.over Magnolia Trees, FF’s bloomin disinfectant war, with a SERIOUS emergency of JCJ’s poor sister and FF’s daughter, ktytc’s poltergeist tv set - wooOOOOOoooooooo!!

Will one of you PLEEEEEASE explain what h******** shoes are? even if you just fill in a few more letters for me.

FF - will you enlighten me as to what disease you’re daughter was convinced that she had. BTW, if she’d have mentioned anything on her assessment form connected to suicide - she’d more likely have been immediately transferred to the Mental Crisis Team, had them visiting her everyday for a fortnight, then another delay until she was transferred back to the psychotherapy dept. It happened to me, I’d waited nearly 6 months, got worse and worse, and then, at my 1st appt.,all because I admitted to a brief moment of previous suicidal thoughts (which I’d worked myself through by that time, ON MY OWN - it immediately all wents boobs up. AS soon as I mentioned the ‘S’ word,  - ooo, alarm bells. The therapist refused to see me, wouldn’t touch me with a barge pole and passed me over, despite me saying "But I’m okay now and this is now going to further delay my long awaited, much neede sessions with YOU for another month. Their policy apparently. Am presuming it’s all part of an NHS policy. You know how these institutional blah balh’s have a hierarchy of levels and blame handling. They have to protect themselves from any poss blame. So… it wouldn’t necessarily pushed her to the front of the desired queue.

By the way JCJ, I’m really glad your sis has recovered well and is she out of hosp yet??

That LochFyne Restaurant looked yummy, lots of beautiful fresh Scottish seafood. Far better than Southern caught seafood (sorry if any of you are on the S. coast!!), cos the water’s so much clearer and less polluted up there. As for off the nearest coast to where I am, i.e. the NW,  so Lancashire - no disrespect and not being snobbish, but the sea is grim. Wouldn’t risk eating anything out of it. Don’t think I’d even waht to dip my tootsies in it these days.

When I initially saw Loch Fyne - I wondered if you lived up there. It brought back lots of fond memories of W. coast of Scotland and the Isles. Had some of the best food in Britain up there, seafood AND meat. But I then noticed their a huge chain throughout much of the country. So where is your nearest branch ?? Have a lovely evening and a good nosh (don’t know where that came from!)

Blimey Ecco boots and shoes, that bring a few more memories back. I used to be a State Reg Podiatrist and Ecco footwear were one of the more sensble, comfortable, less likely to cripple you makes. Comfort over high end fashion - I approve for everyday wear. Keep your sparkly, glam stuff for evenings out where you’re sitting down most of the time - looking pretty.

Stay well.  Lotsa love Dellypoos xx

Sister had a temperature spike over night (over excited about going home?) and her blood counts have plummeted, so she’s staying in hospital. :frowning: She is sooo disappointed. I told her it’s better to stay put than be rushed back in again (her OH says he doesn’t want to wear out the 9 key on their phone!!)

I’ll go and visit her on Sunday (so much for a weekend on the CBA bench girding my strength for Norwich on Monday?! Spoons! I need spoons! Where’s RevCat when you need her? :p)

Delly, (always think that sounds like a place to buy delicious food!) Loch Fyne is a chain. The one we are going to is in Norwich. I’ve never been but YD & her OH (Native Norwichian!) recommend it.

I have a very soft spot for the Lancashire coast! (As MMU attenders will confirm! ) so be careful what you say about it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Lots of jobs to accomplish in this next week… Let me just have a sit down to make a list…snzzzzzzz

Shopping went fairly well today with daughter, she managed to find a pair of boots and a jumper that fitted and looked good.  Clothes bought for GD’s too as both of them growing at an alarming rate and in desperate need of new clothes.  Unfortunately lunch was a bit of a disappointment, three of us had the fish and it wasn’t that good.  Edible but not good.  Perhaps they’ve had a change of chef since we were there last!  Shame as on our previous visits the food has been excellent.

Sorry that your sister has had a setback JCJ, but she’s better off being cared for than being rushed back in as an emergency.  Hopefully it will be only a couple of days until she is released.

A contender for the chariot race has pulled out :smileyhappy: I’ve got more of a chance then :smileyhappy: I’m still practising but I think Katy is the odds on favourite.

Daughter still planning to go and stay with her friend on Sunday.  I think it will do her good to have a change of scenery, get away from it all and see her friend.  She won’t be alone and although I will worry about her while she’s away, I really could do with a few days to myself to recharge the batteries.  I’m exhausted. Thank goodness for half term and three days off work too. Just going to sit and read and watch tv and rest.

Mornin Girlies,

I hope you take some of what I say as just my somewhat naughty, cheeky mischievous sense of humour sometimes. Will have to put more smilies in where not to take offence. I DO take it all seriously as well you know.

JCJ - Naaaa, I wasn’t running down the Lancashire coast - just the state of the sea pollution!! It’s a wonder any fish survive in it when you see some of the not so pleasant (am being polite) thiings floating around in it!!  I’m was sorry to hear of your sisters set back, really hope she’s out again soon. Yeh, I got that Loch Fyne was a chain. Menu looked yummy. Hope you enjoy

FF - I’m following your daughters progress with her depression with interest because of my own struggles with it of the last 6 years and the loss of my brother to its affect  2 years ago (very tragic). It’s good that depression is now more recognised as a serious prob that can be just as debilitating/destructive as any other disease that can be visibly SEEN and It has massively increased (as rife as cancer) Getting help through the NHS is such a frustratingly long, almost torturous procedure in itself so a relief that she’s finally got her foot in the door so to speak. But even then, they often limit how many sessions a person can have whether they’ve recovered or not, often leaving someone adrift again . So I hope it helps as much as she needs. They can sometimes be re-referred at a later date to get another quota. We don’t all have the means to pay for private help. As fantastic as our NHS service is with most things, they’re just not coping with the increase need for mental health services. Probably all down to funding !! Somebody suggested recently, we should all pay just a £1 a week to our local health trusts and help boost their funds - I thought that was a really good idea.

Sorry this is such a serious post but it’s a serious prob, one that I’m very sympathetic to both you  and your daughter about. You still didn’t mention what the “disease” she was thinking she may have had was? Was it related to cancer ?

Have you looked at the “MIND” website? Full of useful helpful info.

Don’t worry about her whilst she away this Sunday, her friend will well look after her I’m sure and like you say, you need a recharge yourself. You’ve had so much going on to deal with and you need/deserve a bit of “me” time.

Now, on a lighter note will you please put me out of my misery and tell me what this blasted h******* (shoes) meant. Oy, are you listening !! Don’t let me have to ask you again.

Hope you have a good weekend and anyone else who’s not on here are all okay.

Delly xx

I assumed that H********** were: 2 words - 1st word: Shhh! 2nd word: baby canines, because they are indeed very comfortable  (though I couldn’t find a style I liked this time :() but I could be *barking* (mad?) up the wrong tree!!

Oh dear just typed all that in bold and too d*** difficult to correct it on this tablet. Sorry for shouting?! :stuck_out_tongue:

HaHaHahaahaa - I’m REALLY laughing outloud     'cos despite your clues - it STILL  didn’t drop. Huh?, much scratching of head - what on EARTH is she talking about.

Aaaaah, WHAT a reLIEF, you mean H*sh P*ppies. Hahahaaa. Wished you’d filled a few more letters in.

You’re NEXT task is to explain what the chariot racing is all about if you can, without me reading back through 2-3 yrs of posts.

Thanks for that JCJ

Dellypoos xx

No, no,no not ssssh baby doggy shoes but h****r opposite of colder haha!!
Am on the “tired” bench near the “can’t be bothered making tea” bench, but am starving so will have to do something asap!!
Funnily enough am meeting up with revcat tomorrow so will load up with spoons…have to carry a camel though, how will I manage hee hee x x

Oooh, camel going to Revcat, hope she likes it.  Please give her my best wishes too.

Daughter safely arrived at her friends.  I know they will spoil her and look after her and I hope she has a lovely time.  She has texted me that she is not coming home as their house is lovely and warm!

I have had to succumb today and put on the heating.  I was hoping to beat my record which stands at 2nd Nov. but I was freezing!!  However heating still seems to have a mind of it’s own but I suppose I’m just not used to the way boiler works yet and I still haven’t read the instruction book!

Whilst out shopping on Friday I spotted some items that I wanted but didn’t have the time to queue up to pay for so I went back for them today. Lovely new cuddly dressing gown and underwear (from the famous underwear shop).  Joined their new loyalty scheme and got 20% off. Result.

Give my regards to RC tomorrow. I hope her mother is better/more stable. Tell we missed her at MMU, but understood family comes first! I’d love to have seen her face when she sees the camel!

Delly: Chariot Racing: KTC (KatyTC) has a wheeled tripod thingy - a walking aid. We call it her chariot. Her mum had one recently so I suggested - because it’s Benchland - see previous escapades - a Roman style chariot race along a certain promenade that some of us know very well!

I’ve spent a few minutes on the CSL bench tonight. Now I think I’ll stay on the quiet contemplation bench. Been to visit sister. They told her on Friday that her bone marrow transplant has failed. The original condition it was meant to cure is still there/has come back. There is nothing else they can do. She has months rather than years left. I did well not to cry in front of her and battled with the tears on a crowded train - determined not to be the CSL - but I broke down when OH met me at the station and I had to tell him.

Today would have been our other sister’s 58th birthday - she died 9 years ago, and tomorrow is the 34th anniversary of Mum’s sudden fatal heart attack. :(

Oh JCJ, I am SO sorry to hear that news and at such a bad time of year for you all. I really don’t know what to say but well done to you for not crying.  Awful news…I don’t know what else to say…my heart goes out to you.

Aaah JCJ, such very sad news, big, big hugs coming your way. Such terrible heartache for you and your family xx

Warmer today, no heating on.  New dressing gown has been worn all day.  I have managed to catch a cold and I feel ****!  Couldn’t be bothered to get dressed .  Hopefully will feel better tomorrow.

FF, I’ve left a large mugatea and a fluffy, snugly duvet next to the I feel sh** bench for you. I hope you feel better soon. Your body DEMANDING that you have some ‘me time’ on the CBA bench at last?!

We’re in Travelodge - strangely identical and yet dissimilar to ‘our’ Travelodge in the other place!! The meal with the girls was lovely and don’t think I ggasped out loud at the bill! I suppose £25.25 a head isn’t bad for 2 courses each, with wine. I’m just not used to paying for 4 of us - or Norwich City prices!!

Y’S OH still recovering well from her spinal surgery and is delighted that her physio says she will be able to go climbing again - even given her special exercises to build up her muscles for climbing. This time last year, I established that she wanted climbing shoes and bought her some for Christmas. She’s not been climbing since as her back troubles flared up, so she feels really guilty (as do I for jinking it!)

Agree with JCJ, now you are not running around all over the place, that’s when you start to feel yuck!! Hope you are not too snotty haha!

RevCat loved the camel, was soooooooo impressed by your hard work FF, and sends much love to all Benchies:smileyhappy:. She is now up to date with all news and is sorry she missed MMU. Her Mum’s meds have now changed and she is better, whew!

Glad you had a lovely meal JCJ, what did you have?

We went yesterday to our favourite pub and as soon as we opened the door an unusual aroma hit our nostrils, sooooooooooo pungent we had to leave, yuckety yuck, so had lunch elsewhere…and we did our usual, managed to get lost in the Shopping Centre xx

<Empty imported post>

No delly, it was a pee pee smell yuckety yuck:smileysad: xx

Y: sorry, miss-typed that due to stupidly small keyboard on phone - should have been YD’S OH.( Arggh! Flippin predictive text just changed it again! !) YD is shorthand for youngest daughter, ES =eldest son etc You get the idea. And yes, OH = other half (when it’s not just OH! as in oh ****! Or OH as in occupational health!!)

At Loch F. yesterday, I had a delicious fish pie served in a scallop shell for a starter, followed by a yummy burger. None of us had room for desert in spite if the very tempting salted caramel cheesecake!

Today we met YD for a late cooked breakfast in a cafe - very good - and we’d earned it by the time we had walked around Norwich twice getting lost trying to find the place! We spent the rest of the morning moseying around the city before heading back to their flat to collect car and future DIL. We went to Cromer. Walked along the prom watching the diggers rebuilding the sea wall, then had fish & chips in a cafe. Lots of really naughty food. Now eating grapes in our hotel room and craving vegetables! I hope my newly fixed stomach can cope with all that fat! Don’t want another night like the last time we came to Norwich! !

Hope you’ve had a good rest and are feeling better, FF! X

News on sis: they have let her go home today so she’s enjoying her comfy chair and MUGS of *proper* tea. She has a clinic appointment back in Brum tomorrow to discuss her options - not that there are many apparently. :frowning:

Sounds lovely, JCJ, yum yum!!!

Glad your sister is going home, she can relax there.

Did a mini Spring/Autumn clean yesterday and wowee am paying for it today.

Soooooooooo the “CBA” bench is looking especially tempting, think I will sit there ALL day:smileyhappy:!

Not due lido for another 2 weeks sure it’s completely worn off, you can have it every 3, 4 or 6 weeks, see how I go next month.

Haircut tomorrow as I have a very fetching mop on top of my head, not a pretty sight.

Ooops kettle is calling, another muggatea, methinks xx
