Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Car MOT, service and new cambelt today.(Haha! Predictive text wanted me to type camel! “I had a new camel fitted on my car today”! Lol)

I walked the 1/4 mile into town and had breakfast in a cafe (didn’t get up in time to have any before leaving the house!) and went to get my hair trimmed. It shows how long it is since I last had a haircut: the very pregnant lady who cut my hair last time was visiting with the ‘bump’ now several months old, sitting in a pushchair!!

I got the bus home, but got on the wrong one and had to walk a mile to my house. It’s so long since I got on a bus (probably LAST year’s MOT!) that I didn’t know they’d change the route of the 766 bus. :smileymad:

Spent the rest of the afternoon on the kindle bench (other ereaders…) ,before getting OH to take me to pick up car. MOT only failed on nearside stop light, and no advisories, so that softened the £500 bill slightly! (They warned me the cambelt would be £350 - mostly labour 'cause its a long job)

Hi, (waves weakly from the poorly bench).  Today I am feeling better.  Went to the quacks, sorry Doctors, yesteday and I have a severe chest infection.  Now on antibiotics, steroids and an inhaler!  I totally agree with you Katyand JCJ, once the pressure of daughter was lifted the body collapsed, didn’t move from the settee Tuesday and yesterday but am back on my feet today. Taking it easy and have no intention of going to work. ST wanted me to give school a clean in places that don’t always get done in term time…she’ll be disappointed there then :smileyhappy:  Hopefully I will be able to just pop in on Sunday and make sure it’s ok for their return. Not even sure yet if I’ll be fit for work on Monday.

Daughter enjoyed her time away, got spoilt but is glad to be home, popped in to see me today, brought me some milk but didn’t stay long and left GD’s in the car away from my germs.

Glad that Revcat liked her camel.  Disinfectant advice ready upon request!

Your meal sounds lovely JCJ, pleased that YD’s OH should make a full recovery and even go climbing!  Cooked breakfast as good as Rita’s?  Sounds as if you had a lovely day.

£500 for a cambelt??  Oh no, mine’s due for one next year…better start saving!

FF - hope your chest clears up soon and you’re soon back to your disinfecting duties.

JCJ - Glad for the good news on your sis.

Hope everyone is well. Have a good weekend

Dellywelly xx

There’s been an odd stale water smell in our house for a few days. I’ve been trying to locate it - a houseplant? Fridge need cleaning? Spuds gone off in their bucket in the cupboard? Skanky cloth left somewhere? (By OH, of course!)

When we got back from Norwich on Wednesday, it was really smelly. It suddenly dawned on me last night that it might be the sink again. We had a leak there after the washing machine was plumbed back in, when the floor was put down. Sure enough, everything in the cupboard sodden. Luckily my car chamois was there and it soaked up a lot of the water - as did 2 of a 4 pack of kitchen towel - now thrown away! :frowning: so no damage done outside of the cupboard. I WAS going to go food shopping today, before the weekend and before I’m back at work next week. Now I’ll just have to wait for the kitchen people to come. Grrrrr!

Also spent half an hour, this morning, trying to find my *whispers* Christmas cake recipe, to make sure I buy any necessary ingredients. I must have just shoved it away quickly last year, as It was “filed” under XYZ instead of C. I had to go all through the box to find it. I have chucked a lot of c*** away though, which has needed doing for YEARS. Recipes I’ve cut from magazines and never bothered with, and never likely to either!

I hope your “aunty bionics” are doing their job, FF and you’re starting to feel better.

KTC - how long have you got to wait for next Lido? You are going to be given a handicap in the chariot race (if that’s not an inappropriate way of phrasing it?? :p) to give the rest of us novices a chance: you will have to drive BOTH your chariots at once!! Mwahaha!

I CAN do that JCJ, and still be super speedy hahaha:smileyhappy:!!

Next lido 2 weeks away:smileysad:.

Golly gosh, smelly pubs, smelly kitchens??? and expensive car repairs, mmmmmmm!

Have had hair chopped and am happy, shorter than usual, also now have wavy bits??? Where did they come from?

Heating has been on for hours now and am still freezing, grrrrrr.

FF, hope you are much better soon and anti’s work quickly.

JCJ, did your daughter’s OH “go private” for her op?

Away to have a muggatea and fill hot water bottle up, just love the cold months, NOT! xx

Ooooh I’m on the cream crackered bench… it’s The Play this week, and it has been FRAUGHT, so I am past myself!!! Just one more night to go, then I will concentrate on the Christmas chariot race plans.

Costumes MUST include lycra, sequins, bling, feathers, and twinkly shoes.

Will go to Norcambe next week to arrange the circuit and publicity.

Anyone got suggestions for Race Starter??? Graham Norton perhaps…

Grumpy

Oooh! Grumpy’s taking charge of the chariot race!! It will be spec.tac.u.lar dahling!! Shall we race from Rita’s (after breakfast, of course!) to the King’s Arms (for celebratory beverages and gallons of restorative tea!)? We could even avail ourselves of the latter’s disco facilities for a post race knees up?

BCC Christmas Gift Catalogue arrived today. I thought I might buy something to support this worthy cause but EVERYTHING is PINK! I don’t really ‘do’ pink. :frowning: Think I’ll just stick to buying raffle tickets 2 or 3 times a year.

Thank goodness someone is taking charge.  No, please not Graham Norton, he’s not pink enough :smileyhappy:  How about Julian Clary??

Have stopped taking anti b’s due to side effects.  Leaflet says contact your Dr if…well trying to contact Dr proved impossible, Rang surgery…he’ll ring you back…no, he didn’t…rang again and …he’ll ring you…no, he didn’t and then it’s Saturday.  So I’m not taking any more. I am recovering and feel a lot better now so not too concerned.

Woo hoo, Dame grumpy:smileyhappy:, knew you would come to the rescue!!

Am going to buy a pair of trainers for speedy start, pink laces???

What are the rules?

Rita’s to pub, fabulous idea JCJ!

Hope you get hold of doc soon FF, cause they always say that you should finish your antibiotics, glad you are picking up.

Have to buy new tabs (not available on NHS) for my BMS, mmmmmmmmmmm, perhaps they will work? xx

To add some interest to the race, we could always do twice around The Madlands and Eric??!

Yes think that is a super, duper idea because if we do Rita’s to pub, we may knock over pedestrians etc therefore slowing race times…xx

Two ideas; 1) surely the road will be closed for us and  2) extra points could be awarded for every pedestrian knocked over!

I meant Rita’s to pub but with twice around The Madlands and twice around Eric en route. Perhaps THROUGH The Madlands with bonus points for how many sandwiches and cakes can be snatched on the way?

Memo to self: check sarnies for snatching from the Madlands don’t have butter…

Clinic tomorrow for check up, then down to Norcambe to plan route.

Dogs have their running kit ready. Actually only Joey has shorts etc, Meg is FAR too dignified for such nonsense!!!

Grumpy

Meg can stand at a strategic point - maybe by Eric, or at the top of the steps by The Madlands, wearing her finest gown and tiara, and we can do “Eyes Left!” (Or right - or both, in Tapoxyfen-induced confusion?) as we dash past.

Up in a rush today. First day back at school and the kitchen fitter came, on his way to work, at 7:15, to look at the sink. It’s fixed! Somehow the washer had got rammed inside the pipe and so the joint wasn’t sealed! (Silent memo to self: Don’t ram the kitchen towel pack in next to the pipes and bin some of the unused bottles of stuff, so the cupboard is not so jam packed! :smileyembarrassed:

Twilight training, after school, 3:30 'til 5:30, so it’s going to be a loooong day. :frowning:

You fit enough for work, FF? If not, blame your chest infection on the lack of disinfectant??!

Aaah Haaaa have discovered your mischievous plan JCJ, suggest lots of different routes to confuse the already confused??? Clever indeed.

Perhaps we should throw in a Treasure Hunt too?

Have bought trainers (the ones on wheels) so will be whizzzzzzzing everywhere, training commences this afternoon, after muggacoffee and jammy cake.

Good luck grumpy.

Hope you are better FF.

No more smelly cupboard for JCJ, woo hoo!!

Found a pair of boot/shoes that I’d forgotten about, brand new so am on the “happy bunny” bench.

Was meeting friend today at eleven, only thing was, it wasn’t eleven but quarter to…have def lost the only remaining marbles that I had left, donations welcome xx

For you KTC, with love:

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Training finished at 5 and was at the school nearest to my house (joint training with other primary schools in our Academy) so I’m well chuffed to be at home supping a much needed cuppa!

Improving slowly, I am now perfectly all right as long as I’m sat on the settee!  Walking, talking even can set off a coughing bout.  Proved that this morning when I phoned school, said about four words then threw phone at daughter while I coughed myself inside out!  She then told them I will not be in this week.  Obviously it’s the lack of disinfectant that has allowed the growth of the germs that lurked in corners until they found and attacked me!

Seriously I’m getting better but it will be another week at least before I’m back to normal.  Have NO appetite whatsoever, trying to force something/anything down but it all tastes like cardboard anyway.  Sleeping better though so that helps.

Cannot practise for the chariot race so you’ll all be getting ahead of me. I have time to make my costume totally spectacular though.

Ladies, clinic has DISCHARGED me today!!! Wow, cancer-free, oh bliss and joy…

Took dogs for walk along the prom at Norcambe, couldn’t see a thing in the fog (and lunch at the pub wasn’t good), so chariot race route was o bit difficult to plan. So far it looks like

  1. Park next to Ritas for breakfast

  2. Mount chariots and proceed along pavement with detour  into shoe emporium, past Winter Gardens

  3. Cross road at the Clock tower

  4. Half time coffee at the Clock tower cafe patio

  5. Turn left towards Eric - photo opportunity for supporters and the Mayor

  6. Circuits of Eric with much giggling and spreading of glitter

7.proceed along prom to the Madlands

  1. 3 circuits of the car park, then into the sunlounge for afternoon tea

Next  job is to sort out chariots and costumes…

Grumpy

Bunting. Party poppers. Glitterberry juice. Dancing shoes. Sandwiches ('potted meat, of course!) Cakes. What? Is it the Chariot race already? No! Celebrating Grumpy’s NEDness! Discharged! Whoopee!

I just picked up next batch of Ta’poxy’fen. Mylan again. Took 1st Mylan last night, so I hope it doesn’t turn out to be problematical! I looked at my NHS prescription exemption card and realised it’s only valid until 2017. Not wishing to tempt fate here, but if I’m now on Ta’poxy’fen for 10 years instead of 5, will my exemption automatically continue, or will I have to re-apply? (Assuming we still HAVE an NHS by then - or free drugs for cancer patients!! :frowning: ) Anyone had this issue yet? You still taking HT drugs, Grumpy?
