I had to cheat as well, FF! Never heard of those shoes either! And KTC, it’s my turn to say WHAT??
Hammering down with rain at the moment. Just started 30 seconds after I got in! Phew! VILE day. Y5/6 teacher off ill so I’ve had them by myself - and Y6 have just had 2 days at secondary school, so they think they’re soooo clever and so don’t want to be with us! :smileymad: If she’s not back tomorrow…
And also my turn to say WHAT?? Seems Katy has fried our brains. How smug is she feeling now? :smileyhappy:
Hope your teacher is back tomorrow but only one week and four days…keep going… you’ll make it.
Back later, see if Katy’s given us any clues. I’ve just edited because I gave away a tennis result and then thought you might have it recorded and not want to know but some great matches today. Rain forecast here for tomorrow.
Yeah Nadal - Muller.Me too, I was watching with bated breath. One of those matches where no-one should lose. But I must admit I was on Mullers side. Always with the under dog unless Andy playing.
Aha! Got it! Thank you Google! Knew the answer to the second clue. Combined it with “shoes” in search and Bingo! Never heard of them either! Shows what a shopoholic I’m not?? Nice looking boots tho’!
My favourite sandals at the moment, and my new trainers are both “our planet” + “ghostly generic term for whisky, vodka, gin etc”.
Don’t want to go to the madhouse today. And it will probably be wet play- kids inside all day - which will only make them worse!
Got your one:smileyhappy:, must be getting better…or you are making things easier!!
Another quietish day, hoovered, ironed 3 things and have done a tidy up so am now up to date, woo hoo.
Am helping YD pack her case tonight, I think??? cause she loves packing just prior to leaving which leaves me on the “jittery” bench haha.
Def hayfever this week, was reading an article and it said that lots of people are now suffering in middle age??? having never had it prior:smileyfrustrated:!
One of my favourite pairs of shoes that I have had for years & years, “H & D being lively” xx
Yesterday was utter chaos when I arrived at school. All sorts of enexpected (but we should have been told) stuff, as well as Y5 out all day with several members of staff. Luckily for me, it was so bonkers the acting head asked me to have her class, so she could be available to sort things out, and she got a supply in for Y6, so I had a MUCH better day! We even managed to get them outside at break, but unfortunately not lunchtime.
Then supermarket shop followed by ham, egg & chips, in their cafe. Home to put stuff away and watch tennis. Konta match on so I tried to record the end of it to watch after I’d safely stowed the food away (frozen stuff rapidly defrosting so I couldn’t leave it!) I cunningly recorded both channels, in case the Beeb did its usual irritating trick of switching in the middle, but Oh No!! When I set BBC2 to record it overwrote the BBC1 one so I didn’t get the tennis - just early evening drivel! :smileymad: I was on the FF bench for quite some time!!!
School trip to the Sealife Centre in nearby city today. Wonder if there are any child eating sharks?!
Haha JCJ, technology at it’s best:smileyhappy:or:smileyfrustrated:!!
We had a family funeral yesterday, we had to travel to another city so a long, sad and tiring day.
Today I woke up and felt soooooooo stiff, the best thing I can do is to keep moving:smileyfrustrated:, so I did, bought a new little unit for the hallway, it arrived unexpectedly this morning which meant I had to empty old one and fill new one up, it has drawers so have put in all the things I can never find, now they are all in the same place, brilliant woo hoo!!
Next YD left soooooooooo into her room, she has 2 huge built in wardrobes and honestly they are filled to the brim, bought a few storage boxes and other storage containers, have kept all her stuff but it’s superly tidy now. She def won’t recognise the place.
Now am lying on the sofa with feet up, will def pay for all of this tomorrow, ouchy ouch.
Away to try get up to make a muggatea and perhaps a little raspberry cake, will leave some in the shed, yum yum xx
Just rounded the SE corner of Guernsey (swimming anticlockwise) - past a place called Jerbourg. Will probably be treading water there for the next 6 weeks: next Thursday is our Y6 Leavers’ Evening, the following week I’m in a field with YD, then the next 3 Thursdays we will be en route to, or in the North Pennines and the Thursday after that I’ll have just returned from MMU5 (still can’t believe it’s 5!!) and probably won’t have the energy or be-a**sedness to go!
YD is 30 on Monday. Can’t believe it! She says she feels old - I asked her how old she thought it made ME feel!! She’s tickled that on their marriage certificate, her wife, who is just 6 weeks older than her, is 30 while she is still 29. (And here was me thinking the date was planned to accommodate all the family that needed to travel long distances! :p) OH has written her old name on the envelope of her birthday card, not her married name. Don’t know if it’s bloo*y mindedness or absent mindedness! He’s cross she’s changed her name - but if she’d married a man he wouldn’t have thought twice about it!! Perhaps I’ll make a point by asking to be referred to by my maiden name?? So if someone called JCH pops up on here…!
6 more get ups. 6 too many, but we’ll get there. Somehow. Eventually.
Aaah, so sorry for your long, sad day. A new little unit… all the things you can never find Katy? So…how come you found them all… to be able to put them in the drawers…??
I got home tonight hoping to watch second tennis semi final (I was aware how it was going) and was just in time to hear “Game Set and Match” to… to late to even watch the last point! Thank goodness for round up programme.
Been daughter’s chauffeuse the last two days while her car has had it’s MOT. She’s got it back now, only a few minor things to be done, one headlight, one brakelight, two windscreen wipers and one tyre.
One more week, actually only four more days of the usual routine as next Friday I can start to get the school ready for it’s summer clean.
I can never find what I need when I need it cause I always say I’ll keep it here/there, then I forget where it is/was??? Now they are all in the same place:smileyhappy: so I will always be able to find them…
Glad daughters car was not too bad, always scary MOT’s etc.
ED arrived at hol place today to a red light flashing on the dashboard, there’s always something:smileyfrustrated: she has a rescue thing attached to her insurance so she’s not too worried. Fingers crossed.
Keep going into YD’s room, it’s so tidy, she will faint when she comes back hahaha!!
In my mammoth tidy I had “it” with me, at one point I dropped “it” on the floor, picked “it” up and have never seen “it” again, sooooooooo mad, assume I binned “it” grrrrrrrrrrrr and there is no way I am going through the 3 huge bin bags, grrrrrrrrrr.
Went to chippie tonight had scampi and chips, it was yummy haven’t ever bought it from chippie before.
When are you off with YD? Is it a weekend or during the week break?? xx
Check your little unit for “it” Katy? Hehehe Hope ED’s car survives without too much worry/expense.
YD & I are going to the blissfully restful adults only campsite we stayed on last year, near Church Stretton in Shropshire… Just for 4 nights; Wed to Sunday.
I’ve had a nightmare of not recorded tennis and STUPID BBC swapping channels mid match so that I watch half way through and get really involved in a match and then hear the dreaded words: “If you want to continue watching…” Arggghh!! The Smart TV hasn’t been as much help this year either as it only shows live matches - not much use when you want to watch the end of a finished match. There’ll definitely be 1 British winner at Wimbledon this year! Some superb mixed doubles matches.
So glad it’s Friday. It’s been a mental week at work. Now being thoroughly humbled watching the World Para Athletics!
Bought some Pimm’s at the supermarket shop, (in a can, ready mixed with lemonade) because I’ve never tried it. Seemed appropriate to drink it tonight whilst watching the tennis. I quite enjoyed it but probably won’t repeat the experience because it’s much too sweet for me. I don’t enjoy sweet drinks. Already having to force tonic water down, as advised by onc. Even the stuff with lime is a wee bit sickly. I bought the diet version but of course it’s got loads of sweeteners in. Wish there was an unsweetened version. Perhaps there is?
I must have had a sheltered life too Katy, I’ve never tasted pimms either! Glad ED home safe and sound. Doesn’t matter how old they are, we never stop worrying about them.
Tennis? Sad? I’m having withdrawal symptoms already! What on earth am I going to watch on tv? Actually I have a cunning plan, I have recorded several series and will catch up with them.
JCJ - did you see the men’s doubles final? WOW! One of the best doubles matches I’ve ever seen! And the ladies doubles final? WOW for a different reason.
At daughter’s house there is a well that supplies all their water but the pump that brings it from the well to the house has partially broken down. So they are only getting a limited amount of water… parts are on order and then it’s an easy fix but this weekend my washing machine has been going non-stop, they’ve all had a bath here and water butts and bottled water are keeping them going.
One more week of term and then flexitime to arrange the summer cleaning as I want and then three weeks holiday. Just can’t wait for that.
Mojo? Is that a third camel, Ali? Sounds like it should be!
Do we have a link here? Never had Pimm’s but did get BC! Should we investigate? Do a survey? We may have found an important piece of evidence. I’ll write to the press. Lol!
Can’t remember what I usually do when I get home from school. Last 4 weeks it’s been stick the Tele on and watch some tennis! :(. WTF = Wimbledon Tennis Finished.
No I didn’t see the men’s - or women’s- doubles finals, FF. Started to watch men’s but there were no rallies to speak of (the most exciting aspect of doubles in my opinion!) so I lost interest, having already watched the women’s singles final and the wheelchair doubles - which WAS exciting, and wandered off to do something else. I might see if we have it recorded. As usual, both singles finals a bit of a let down after all the hype and expectations?
Circus skills group coming to school tomorrow to do workshops with the kids, so watch out for my stunning performance tomorrow night: plate spinning on stilts on a tightrope followed by an amazing trapeze routine. Donning spangly lycra leotard as I type, in readiness. Ali, perhaps you should join me - we might find your mojo? Will certainly lose some more marbles??
YD is 30 today. Yes, the Younger of my offspring! I feel OLD!!
It’s getting rather too hot here at the moment but rain forecast for tomorrow… maybe…hope so.
You missed a really good match by not sticking with the men’s doubles, but the women’s? 6-0 6-0 left me wondering how on earth they had made it to the final! And yes, what do I do when I get home? Happy Birthday to your YD and I sooooo get that you feel old…my youngest baby is 38 and that just can’t be possible…
Expect/know that you will put the circus skills group to shame tomorrow. Make sure you take the painkillers before starting…
Well, the promised rain has not happened here. Thank goodness we are not flooded as some places have been. We only had a short shower about 5pm.
School is doing all sorts of end of term arty stuff. Using loads of glue, paint, tissue paper, soil, yes, that’s soil as in earth and best yet…GLITTER!! You can imagine how I feel about that, actually you KNOW how I feel about that :smileysad::smileysad:
Hope your acrobatics and spangly costume didn’t show up the circus skills people too much. I know what you can do when you are in the mood! I shall never forget the panstravaganza (have I got that right?)
