Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Manic day at school - again - today. Teacher out on a course. Supply teacher in class (not me! ) Teacher had left instructions to teach the maths lesson  by following the PowerPoint saved on the computer network. Except it wasn’t saved there. Neither of us could find it. Supply teacher not confident to teach algebra “off the top of her head”. Mrs J to the rescue! It’s so nice to be able to support and be appreciated rather than to be in the high stress firing line! I sourced something for the lesson while supply teacher kept the children occupied. ST was duly grateful (and class teacher humbly apologetic when I told her later!!)

OH gradually returning to human(ish) form now that his man flu is subsiding.

Swam just over a mile again tonight, still got a long way to go to reach the other end of the loch.

Thank goodness it’s Friday tomorrow and no hospital appointments or "Not an inspection"s to have to deal with this week!

Will be spending the weekend in the shed eating cake!

Yes it is lovely to feel appreciated, you can feel good about assisting others and you can feel soooooooo much better that it’s not your sole responsibility:smileyhappy:

Am on the “joining others on the feeling yuck” bench, another bug has descended

So can’t give Mum this bug (no visit possible today), hopefully be gone in a couple of days:smileyfrustrated:

Bought a book and a couple of jigsaws to keep my mind off things, will be lounging around spoiling myself, fingers crossed, over the weekend.

Hopefully will be fine for dinner on Sun xx

Snowflake is all dressed up and ready to play. I suppose I’d better get started on a playmate for him? 20180127_004646.jpg

Will have to buy some more “furry” wool first. But that requires getting dressed - so maybe I’ll just sit here and do another jigsaw on my Magic Jigsaw app?!

Oooooh I like Snowflake:smileyhappy:!!

Did not have the leisurely day I had planned (was tempting fate), phoned my Mother 27 times, no response so went along, her mobile was switched off and she was refusing to answer her landline, cause all she wanted was peace, WHAT?? I was furious so gave her fair warning if she doesn’t start behaving I will get services involved
have given her a week
we’ll see.

Just as I left the house it started raining, grrrrr.

Tummy still iffy and headaches are yuck, ate something there then thought I’ll have a muggatea, just dropped it all over the floor sooooooooooooooo am on the “truly annoyed” bench it’s near the “grrrrrrrrr” bench.

Another egg fell into my basket, am not caring now hahaha !! xx

Somebody told me there is such a thing as a peanut butter creme egg! Now that I could eat - that won’t be sickly sweet?

Went to town yesterday and bought some artificial flowers to go with the red fake gladioli that OH bought for us for Christmas. They looked a bit odd in the vase by themselves, but now they look stunning with some white “pom poms” and some white lilies. Until they start to gather dust? The galadioli are so realistic I keep expecting the top buds to open and the other day I was convinced they were just starting to “go over”!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Dinner is in the shed: lamb shanks, mashed potato, smashed roots, roasted beetroot, sprouts and gravy followed by an experimental dessert: black rice pudding, stewed plums and natural yoghurt. It looked a bit odd, but it was actually quite nice, once I got used to it - nothing like “normal” rice pudding - but I’m not as big a fan of black rice in pudding as I am of it with savoury courses. It’s yummy as a rice salad, or with chili!

Hope your GC had a good birthday, FF, and that your mum is behaving herself, KTC, and not giving you any more scares!

Peanut butter creme egg?  Just no
that’s so wrong

GS had a great day out with his mates yesterday and today was far too busy with new computer games to take any notice of his family.  That was fine ,we adults had a good natter while the GC played goodness knows what
Cake in the shed if anyone has any room after that lovely dinner.  I had to google black rice though as I’ve never heard of such a thing.

I have managed to somehow mess up the new tablet.  It’s been three weeks of waiting for DIL to set it up, so I thought I’d try myself.  I thought I was doing well, following instructions but it’s all gone pear shaped.  Hopefully DIL will sort it next weekend.

Dinner was lovely, thank you, no dessert pour moi, just eating cake instead!!

Happy Birthday FF’s GS, hurrah.

You should have taken tablet along with you FF, GC would probably fix it in seconds

That is sooooooo funny JCJ, have been looking at flowers too, have had the same vase in window for a long time and because of new sofas arriving and new matching cushions, thought about changing, am looking for rust coloured flowers but keep seeing really pretty flowers that don’t match anything, so old ones may just have to stay, haha, glad yours are so pretty, amazing the difference things like that make:smileyhappy:

Yucketty yuck no peanut butter eggs for me either, tasted pb for the first time a couple of years ago, no no never again!!

Yesterday was not quiet either so am never saying that again

Hoover is coming out to play today but am lingering on the “CBA” bench, maybe after next muggatea xx

I am a zombie tonight. Don’t think I slept at all last night. Probably the lamb, but my stomach was really playing up. Foul wind. :frowning: Had to dash to the loo this morning and have felt a bit fragile all day - but then who wouldn’t after no sleep?

It could be a bug, but I’m going to abstain from lamb for a while and see if it happens again next time I try it, as I’ve had problems before after  eating lamb. So annoyed. I LOVE lamb! :frowning:

Going to get my hair washed and dried and get to bed early tonight. Snzzzzzzzzzzzz

Maybe dessert JCJ, pretty strong stuff, hope you are much better today.

What a difference a threat makes, Mum is def improving, has been so incredibly worrying, she is very thin but is starting to regain appetite, new tabs are working well, she is alert, not yet on the “woo hoo” bench but getting there.

Have my lido tomorrow, no transport, they have changed the rules, I couldn’t be bothered arguing at the time (Mum really bad) I am actually still entitled to service because of the side effects of lido, will see how things go I may be better off because of the waiting times and arrive back home much earlier which would be a great bonus.

Neurology next day, am looking forward to this appt cause I want to know what’s what
hope I will be told on the day.

YD making moves, seeing if she can be transferred for work etc, feel sad but it has to happen, she is also very apprehensive but she wants to go ahead asap, it will be difficult for her, know I will be on the “worried Mum” bench for a long time

Still no appt for ED.

No GC until Fri night, am babysitting so it’s a sleepover, am looking forward to it haha.

Managed to buy my orange flowers, woo hoo, got them today they were not expensive at all which was a surprise and I love them. Only drawback
had to buy a new vase which was haha. Win, win or maybe not
xx

Hope lido goes ok tomorrow, KTC, and that the lack of transport turns out to be a bonus not a pain! Fingers crossed for helpful, non-scary information from the neurologist too!

We had the news today that HMI will be visiting tomorrow and Thursday! Oh joy of joys! What delights! So soon after “not an inspection” too! We were told to expect them in February. Tomorrow is still January!! Ah well, at least we’ll get it over with. Again. :expressionless:

OH has persuaded me that we need a 2nd vacuum cleaner to keep upstairs because he struggles to carry Henry up the stairs. I don’t have a problem with it, but as he is the one who does most of the “hoovering”, (as he’s not at work!) I’ve agreed to him getting one. After extensive online research, I’ve just ordered one online from JL using the debit card for his account (technically, they’re both joint accounts - but they’re still “his” and “mine”!). It will be delivered in the next few days and no doubt we’ll be fighting over the new toy?!

Right. Going to shower before bed to save time in the morning. Need to get to school early tomorrow! :frowning:

Hope all went well JCJ, how soon is report ready?

Arrived home around 3, what a difference, no hanging around at all, treatment finished at 2 bus left hospital at 10 past sooooooo dashed to lift, ran through concourse with a couple of mins to spare, woo hoo!! The only dodgy part is the walk from bus stop to home bit wobbly but chariot keeps me safe.

Terrible problems with canula, 6th attempt was successful, blood wasn’t flowing fast enough, nurse asked if I had been unwell (had that cold, then the bug) she said that sometimes does it, really, really don’t want to have to get it through my tummy

Have a new bench “moaning minnie” feel as though I have never stopped so far this year
xx

Glad things went sort of all right today Katy, six tries to get a cannula in is not good
but home at 3 is  great.   Sorry
but the “moaning minnie” bench does not exist, so you can’t be on it
none of us moan!  You are actually on the “valid concerns” bench.

Hope today went well JCJ, and crossed fingers for tomorrow.

Not a lot happening down here.  School much as usual but I left there tonight, a little early I admit but I had time due after last weeks mess.  It was not totally dark!  I didn’t need my torch to see my way to the car!  Yay!

Hope the side effects are minimal from the lido, and that having to walk from the bus stop hasn’t had a detrimental effect, Katy. How did neurology go? My fingers are still crossed! xx

Hurrah! for a clean school, FF. (Hope that hasn’t tempted fate, and they haven’t left it a **** heap today?! :P)

Talking of school, our HMI visit seems to have gone OK. No feedback yet, but all the big cheeses seemed to be quite smiley when I left this afternoon. At least it’s over. For now. Almost hope it wasn’t TOO good because that would trigger a full blown OFSTED (wash my mouth out?!)  and I’m not sure we could stand the pressure of yet another inspection in such a short space of time. Oh wouldn’t it be lovely if we could just be trusted to get on with our jobs??! Grrrrr!

Another mile down the loch tonight, under a beautiful super moon. Somewhat chilly. Glad I had my thermal longjohns on under my swimsuit! :stuck_out_tongue: 20% of the loch completed.

Friday tomorrow. Yay! Davis Cup tennis on over the weekend - if we can get it on free TV!  Winter Olympics start next weekend. Can’t wait. I’ll be hooked. What events will the Benchlanders be entering?

Oh my was soooooooooo tired last night, didn’t even turn laptop on

Appt went well have one of two things, at the moment Consultant can’t distinguish which one is which so will go back in 6 months he will redo tests and hopefully have a clearer view of things. If I did it all of the time it would be easier to tell, at the start it was maybe 5 or 6 times a week, now it’s 30 plus times a day. One can be treated with tabs and the other cognitive behaviour help, so no matter which one, I can be treated successfully.

Glad your school visit seems to have gone well.

How many miles do you have to swim JCJ?

FF is it catio or tablet this weekend?

I have both GC tonight so that will def keep me on my toes haha.

Had GS for a short while this morning, he was all excited that he’s back here again with sister later. If am not too tired might take them to children’s favourite place, burgers etc, it’s a bit of a walk so not sure yet. xx

Bobsleigh methinks:smileyhappy: xx

I’m not surprised you were tired last night, KTC! Lido always makes you tired and hospital consultant appointments are exhausting and you had a double whammy! Rest when you can. Don’t get over excited with the GC! So glad whatever “Noddy” is can be treated. I bet you’re relieved?

HMI went so well that HT bought all the staff pizza for lunch - delivered to the school by a well known (expensive!) firm. Yum. I’ve still had my mini fish special for dinner too. Two takeaways in one day! Shocking!

I think I’ll resurrect the donkey costume and enter the ice dancing. We were sooo brilliant at that? Or maybe the curling. How hard can it be? Can you imagine it? I’d spend 90% of the time on my derriere on the ice!!

The loch is 24 miles long, apparently, and I’ve swum just under 5 miles so far.

The pizza takeaway doesn’t count JCJ, as you didn’t actively seek it out, it just appeared! :smileytongue: Glad the inspection went well.

Pleased that you can have treatment for “Noddy” Katy but sorry that you have to wait six months to see which it should be!

After our family Birthday get together last weekend both of the GS’s came down with a sickness bug, so we’ve all avoided each other this week.  DIL sick today so it’s not finished yet so I think that puts all the weekend plans on hold!  Son and GD still at risk, so I don’t want them over here
so no catio and no internet on the tablet yet.

Camera is working on it though so many pics of Purdie have been taken.

Good luck with the sleepover.

I don’t know why but I seem to have a yen to try hurtling down a steep, icy slope on a tea tray
so I think I’ll give the luge a try.  And if I survive that I’ll do the ski slalom.  Hope that commentator with the beautiful blue eyes is there again.  Graham Bell???  Yeah, googled, that’s him.

Good news at school tonight, work is being done in half term, so I won’t be able to go in, except on Friday
so four days off instead of two
YAY!  Wow! Whoo hoo! Hip hip hooray!

Dragged myself off the CBA bench to get dressed this morning (ok, afternoon!) so that we could go to the farm shop for lunch and buy some fruit and veg. Arrived to find tea room closed! NOOOOO! Quickly bought the few things we needed and then back home to get lunch there instead.

It was a good job we did come straight home because when I walked through the door, I heard an odd noise. Dashed upstairs to find the shower running, the fan going and the bathroom nicely steaming!! What the
? Couldn’t turn it off. Had to use the mains switch/ isolator in the airing cupboard on the landing. How weird! Just as well we weren’t out all afternoon? Or away for a few days? That would have been an expensive electricity bill?! Never known something turn itself ON before! Would expect to be unable to turn it on if it was broken! Internet research seems to indicate the solenoid has died.

Luckily, we are in the process of getting a plumber to come anyway, as we have a drippy tap that hasn’t stopped despite repeated washer replacement. The bath only has a hot tap (ES removed the cold years ago because we couldn’t stop it dripping!) so I want to replace all 4 taps, but OH hoping to just have the sink ones fixed (cheapskate?!) Now he can fix/replace the shower too when he comes.

In the meantime, showering will be an interesting experience involving a dash to and from the landing to turn it on & off! Good job we’re not expecting visitors?

Purdie has settled into my space on the settee while I made a cup of tea, so now I’m sitting on the floor watching the recorded tennis.  Just who’s in charge here
?

Hahahaha FF, think Purdie has won:smileyhappy:

Shower off, shower on, hope plumber is there soon
great if you can have everything done at once.

Have had fan do that before just turn on inexplicably but not both.

Brought hoover out, did a small bit of ironing, tidied up and washing tumble drying at the moment, some normality, methinks.

Has your new hoover arrived?

Have had another bug, WHAT??? involving me sitting on the toilet a lot, really??

Better today.

GC fine, did take them along, they were happy, came out and GD decided to jump on a wall, she slipped and her head just missed a huge brick stucture by around 1 cm, so so lucky. She has never been sure footed and that again proves it
she is not allowed from now on to jump on anything haha.

ED’s OH, had a hospital visit yesterday, knee etc swollen, strained ligaments so lots of painkillers, ice and rest.

Am already fed up of 2018 and it’s only Feb xx
