ES put the fan in years ago and he deliberately wired it through the shower so that it comes on with the shower and goes off a few minutes after the shower is turned off. That way we never forget to put it on!
New vacuum has arrived. OH had a go with it this afternoon and he said, despite its name, it didn’t make a *meal* of the job! I am waiting for a time when he is out to ‘hoover’ properly: under beds, skirting boards, behind bedside cabinets etc, as I know he’ll get upset if he thinks I’m picking fault with his housework!, But there’s goodness knows how long an accumulation of dust and ****. I only realised when I was looking for a small teddy that’s gone AWOL off the bed. Trampville?!
The tennis was good today - the first match anyway. No spoilers in case you’ve not watched it, FF, but WOW!
Dinner is roast chicken, roasties, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, sprouts with cranberry sauce, roast parsnip, leeks in white sauce and gravy, followed by American style cheesecake and raspberries. All welcome.
Glad I’m not the only one finding things different. I hit reply to thread… and then… view discussion in a pop up and, yep, right back to the very first post by Katy… Threw me the first time but now I just make the necessary adjustments.
Daughter phoned me on my mobile this am. First words “Where are you?” Me: “I’m at home, why?” D: “You’re not answering your home phone. I’ve phoned three times, I was worried” Me: I’ve been home, phone hasn’t rung" Investigated…I’d managed to accidently hit the Do Not Disturb button on my phone, this stops it from ringing. Oops :smileyembarrassed: Must take care to keep fingers well away from that button in future!
Busy, busy day tomorrow but hopefully I will see Daughter and littlest GD for the first time in a week as we’ve all been avoiding each other because of the bug. The danger has now passed, so the plan is that they will call in for lunch after GD’s playdate.
Hahaha yep it’s happening to me too, there is something you can change to fix it but I can’t remember what it is, will have a search.
Dinner was lovely as usual, yum yum, particularly enjoyed dessert this week:smileyhappy:!
Need a better clue JCJ “meal”???
Hope you enjoyed your day FF. Daughter must have started to panic, poor girl, and you are oblivious.
YD has had the ok from work, she can be transferred, big sigh of relief makes things so much easier. Next on list flat hunt, she has a week off shortly so will be looking then. She wants me to come, stay in a hotel and then search around, will be busy for weeks haha. Then QUIET, oh dear:smileysad:
GD has roped me into making slime, next week, there is a in service day so we will start then, any quick ideas most welcome xx
You can click on “thread options” and choose either to “sort oldest to newest” or “newest to oldest” but that just makes Katy’s first post either page 600+ or page 1- and either way the page reverts back to Katy’s first post when you click post. I tried both ways. Confused.
‘Meal’ is how I assume the Germans pronounce the name (not a name I’d come across before in relation to vacuum cleaners, and I originally thought it was French and pronounced ‘Meelay’) I googled to find the best reviewed small (NOT cordless, bagged) vacuum and that’s what came highly recommended on several sites.
I assumed YD was moving because of work, but glad work is letting her transfer. Is she doing what my YD did and moving to be nearer a boy/girl friend?
On the bad mother bench for frightening your daughter, FF! I didn’t know phones had a “Do not disturb” button. Must see if mine does! Hope you managed to meet up today.
Bizarrely, the shower decided to work OK last night! I was intending to get out and slosh to the landing to turn it off in the airing cupboard, but I automatically reached for the power button on the shower - and it worked!! What is going on?
Don’t know if it’s my tablet, or this website, but my predictive text is doing all sorts of crazy things now too. Not noticed it when I type emails or on Twitter.
Let’s see where I’ll end up when I click “post” this time!
I’ve always thought it was unpronounceable so never bothered but then Daughter bought one and told me it was ‘Myeelee’. Who knows?
Met up with Daughter today, tongues wagged non-stop 'til we had caught up on all the gossip. Lots of muggateas! Thanked her for her concern and made sure that she won’t just assume I’ve done it again if there’s a next time! Must keep fingers away from that button (bottom RHS on my phone).
She managed to get the tablet connected to the internet again, so tonight I’ve been playing around with it. Managed to get on here but then couldn’t bookmark it…I’ll get the hang of it in the end.
Showers with a mind of their own??? Glad I’ve only got a bath!
Should have gone out today to do a few jobs but it was soooo cold… now have to go tomorrow when it is forecast to be even colder. Oh dear.
Can’t pronounce it either, knew someone who worked for the company and thought to myself will never forget that name, hahaha guess what?? Where are the marbles??
Hope shower behaves at least until plumber arrives, JCJ.
No she is leaving because all her friends live there, so for her socialising she travels most weekends, backwards, forwards will make things easier.
Glad you had a catch up with daughter FF. Hope she gave you a row too!!
Mum seems to be behaving herself, looking so much better, whew!
Nipped into town today, fine till I was coming home, oh my soooooooooooo cold brrrrrrrrrrrr, snow last night xx
Where will I be?? Tried a couple of things yesterday, none worked so am assuming a blip in the system? xx
Glad your YD will have friends in her new location. It will make moving away from home much easier. She won’t be too far away - not 3 hours like my girls?!
Was thinking earlier it will be the first time I have been on my own ever haha!!
Had an unexpected trip into town again today was only in for a short while, thank goodness, had a nap this afternoon it’s all catching up with me, zzzzzzzzzzz time!
While I was out something happened, 2 yes 2 eggs appeared from nowhere, just had to have them…yum yum.
So cold here brrrrrrrrrrr, tried to snow earlier but no success, hurrah.
GS here tomorrow, had GD on Mon she was feeling a little yuck, when she was dropped off GS burst into tears aaaaah he was off to nursery and obviously thought why am I not seeing nannie?? Saw his little face crumple, mine did too xx
My face crumpled as well today as Senior Teacher has found a way for me to work next week, while the alterations are carried out, so just the two days off. Must look on the bright side, two days off is better than no days off :smileyhappy:
Oh goodness, those eggs… one fell into my trolley today as well. Jolly cold here too but thankfully no wind as that would make it so much worse.
I have had to buy a new humidifier as the one I’ve had for thirteen months has given up the ghost. Yes, just passed the 12 month guarantee period. Typical! Purdie is having great fun with the box it came in and I’ve read the instructions… and I’ll read them again in the morning and see if they make more sense then.
Hope new machine is working successfully, can’t be bothered reading instructions properly either.
Not sure what I’m about to do??? Can venture to supermarket buy couple of things needed (excuse), then divert towards chippie or stay inside and eat what I have in fridge…
Chippie would win with me too. Excellent choice and you’ve got the needed items too. Win win situation there.
I’ve got the new humidifier working, instruction booklet still not making much sense but because of experience with the broken one, I’ve got it going. New one gives daily and weekly maintenance procedures which last one didn’t so that’s perhaps why it died?
Oooh! Chippies! Nom nom nom. But I’ll get mine tomorrow. We had Boxing Day Pie for our dinner! What a treat. I’m glad I made a double lot on Boxing Day and put 4 portions in the freezer. So easy to reheat in the oven and absolutely delicious! Win. Win.
Yes, FF I’m glad I’m only virtually swimming in the loch! It did occur to me, whilst swimming up and down the pool tonight, that doing Loch Ness and Loch Lomond in the winter months and Guernsey in the summer was a bit **se about face? I’m on the … (hahahaha predictive text suggestions are “way”, “reading” and “jittery” - shows how much of my time is spent in Benchland?! :)) … No this time I’m on the “pleased with myself” bench (=smug bench?) because I managed 1800M tonight: 72 lengths! Finally got back up to the level I was at before being lazy over Christmas!
Glad you got your new humidifier working, FF. Hope it lasts longer than its predecessor. You wouldn’t need one here. It’s tipping it down with rain. Met office weather warnings for ice overnight again. Oh no! I hope it’s not as bad as before Christmas.
I was on the FF bench, spitting feathers, today. Y4/5 teacher off sick. Supply teacher in. She was about as effective as a chocolate teapot. School decided to send her home at lunchtime and asked me (the one that’s so useless remember!) to cover the class for the afternoon instead - for 27.11p an hour more than my normal pay (honestly, I’m not making it up or exaggerating - I saw it in writing on my payslip!) I originally said a very vehement “NO” but then realised I didn’t want to be that person who’s always counting the money. The reason I like working with my colleagues is that we all pull our weight as a team, so I reluctantly agreed to do it. Had a bit of a sweary (moi??!) rant in the staffroom and then the office manager came to tell me she’d got another supply teacher in! She thought I’d be angry at being messed about, but I could’ve hugged her. I did a little dance around the staffroom!
I’m covering in another class tomorrow afternoon and also covering the after school wrap around care for 2 hours (the latter is overtime and pays quite nicely!) so, obviously, I’m not as s*** at my job as they tried to make out?! (But we all knew that anyway?!) It’ll be a looong day, but at least it’s Friday. 6 more get ups til half term.
