Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

There’s an awful lot of water about here, rained steadily all day, the lanes on the way to school all awash, the further I went into the countryside the more snow was still in the fields.  The roads were all ok though so no worries.

I was severely worried about my mind today. I went up to town and left Purdie in the conservatory.  I came home and she was in her cage in the living room.  I’m sure (am I?..) that I left her in the conservatory.  Did I put her in the cage? No, I wouldn’t have put her in there without water!  Am I losing the plot?

Daughter called in later on with GD.  GD innocently says “Nana you were out when we came earlier, Purdie nearly escaped”. GD had needed the loo. I was out. Daughter let themselves in with the well hidden key.  And then shut Purdie in so she couldn’t escape when they left!  Thank goodness, I’ve not lost the plot :smileyhappy:

Daughter said she couldn’t leave me a text message as she’d left her phone at home…I reminded her there was such a thing as as paper and pen! You know, the old fashioned way of leaving a message!

How clever JCJ, never thought of doing that before, hope no shampoo went into your eyes in the process, utterly amazing your skills:smileyhappy:!

Ahha FF, you are not on the “crazy” bench after all hee hee!!

This morning pouring rain (good cause not much snow left), ED phoned and after a mega talk looked out the window and it was snowing, massive flakes…fortunately it isn’t lying, hurrah, am truly fed up of it now!

Men came for sofas so am sitting on a hard chair, feet up on footstool, it’s not comfy so will be off to bed early tonight, methinks.

Have appt with nurse tomorrow, 9 am so am leaving phone with YD just in case delivery men telephone me when I’m having my blood taken haha.

Am getting excited now:smileyhappy: xx

Snow is all gone here so life is back to normal?  No, actually it’s not. Supermarkets have still not had any deliveries, still no bread, milk, fruit or veg…supermarkets are very empty.  All information says that the larger supermarkets get restocked first so that puts us way down the list.

Obviously the minute a lorry is seen going to our tesco or coop, hordes will descend and it will be empty again in minutes :smileyhappy:  I’m ok, I’ve got bread and milk in the freezer, plenty of frozen meat and veg. Seems it will take a while to get back to nomal. And we only had two days of snow…what about all the people who have had days of it…?

Hope your new sofas arrive early tomorrow, Katy, so you don’t have to sit on the hard chair for too long. I remember when my sofas arrived, so exciting.

Daughter popped in today, she is still chuckling about scaring me to bits yesterday .

Sniw all gone except for the odd patch where it drifted (one such large pile, in a layby on my way to work, looked like a dead polar bear - quite took me by surprise until I realised what it was! I’m used to road kill badgers on that route, and I know it’s been cold but…!!!) Talk today, at school, that more snow is forecast! What? NOOOOO! According .to the app on my phone though, we should be ok here.

Supermarket shop last night. Some empty shelves, but I got all of the 3-week shop without too many compromises. We were probably the place in the country least affected by the snow, though, and right where all the major distribution centres are - surrounded by them!

Had a course this afternoon, at a school nearer to my house, so I’m home ridiculously early. Feel quite discombobulated! OH’s turn to get the dinner too!

Will make up for the laziness tomorrow however, when I have After School Club and swimming. *Needs little nap just thinking about it*

Have your sofas come? Do you like them?

They are here, woo hoo:smileyhappy:!

Was just about to leave home for appt when received a phone call saying they would be here in 10 mins, WHAT???

Quickly phoned docs and rearranged another appt, success, then still before 9 they arrived.

Men not here for long just unwrapped, popped feet on and took away all the paper and plastic. They are huge compared to my other sofas, love them haha.

New cushions are out of cupboard, new vase and flowers in window, new bowl type thing on coffee table, done and delighted now:smileyhappy:

A polar bear, oh no, read your badger kill comment and thought you killed badgers, teach me to read correctly.

Enjoy your early home time and added fun no cooking, hurrah.

No snow here either apart from the big lumps, never been so glad to see the back of it all.

Good you have plenty in freezer FF, or do you???

After yesterday who knows?? hahaha.

Supermarket here back to normal.

Went out for a short while and on the way back was thinking my feet are sore and body feels ouchy, what’s going on? Then I remembered lido due in next couple of weeks, it def keeps things at bay xx

Woo hoo, Katy’s house has had a makeover.  So glad you are pleased, it’s just soooo good to have new things. I need more details, I’m curious about the new colour scheme…

I HAVE got loads of things in the freezer, I’m not going mad. Left Purdie in the conservatory today and she was still there when I got home. Phew!

I’ve not been to supermarket today so don’t know how things are there today.  I have to go to town tomorrow to collect prescriptions so will go there as well to see if I can get some fresh fruit and veg…

On the k****ered bench. Just back from swimming. Can really tell I missed 2 weeks! Managed the mile but it was a struggle! Arms, legs and especially shoulders feel like lead now.

I did After School Club again and arrived home with just over an hour to feed my face and get back out again, so I had a pizza (S********'s own) ready to shove in the oven to have with a quick salad. Hadn’t bargained for OH setting of a tomato grease bomb in the kitchen - or “making a Bolognese” as he calls it. He thought he was being helpful, but a) his “Bolognese” is vile so I didn’t want any b) he used all the mince out of the freezer, all the garlic and most of the tinned tomatoes - (and I did the 3-week shop on Tuesday without allowing for that!) and c) I was looking forward to the pizza. So I had to cook the pizza, make a salad AND cook his spaghetti, not to mention clean up the aftermath of his cooking. Lord knows how he managed to splash tomato up the walls and get grease EVERYWHERE! :frowning:

Meeting a friend/ex-colleague for a cuppa and a catch up, after school tomorrow, at a garden centre near school - it may also involve cake  - postponed from last week due to the snow.

YD coming on Saturday until Sunday too. So excited!

Shifty over JCJ, am joining you on that bench:smileyfrustrated:

Am also on the “my feet are killing me” bench, long time since they felt this bad grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Think you did really well even managing to go swimming after the day/night you had.

Where are you now?

Have great fun with your girls:smileyhappy:

Is this catio weekend FF? Is Purdie really there?

Confusing or what??

Went to supermarket with GS he was superly well behaved, he had his imaginary list of shopping and managed to keep me right haha. Amazingly when I asked what was next he said cornflakes I didn’t have them on my post it (had forgotten to write them down) so they went into chariot too, hurrah!!

Into town then up to Mum’s, passed chippie on way home and couldn’t resist so no cooking another hurrah.

Feet up now and a muggatea, 3 creme eggs fell into my basket today am sure one will be eaten shortly!

Still can’t understand how that happens???

Colour scheme is brown and orange xx

Yeah me too, move over both of you.  Although I can also be found on the " my back is killing me" bench.

Catio build this weekend has been postponed, Son and SIL don’t want to work with wet wood and forecast is for rain most of day tomorrow.  I’m not bothered, there will be another day and I’m really not in the mood for all the family to descend tomorrow anyway.  I’ve got books to read…!

Brown and orange is calming, good earth colors, I like it.

Purdie is here and has stayed where I left her since Monday…Daughter is still chuckling…

Enjoy your time with your Daughters JCJ. Have a good catchup with your colleague and well done for sticking to routine and going swimming after such a trying time.

Admin lady at school tonight was going through her exercise routine which she usually does at lunchtime,  I got tired just watching her for two minutes (she is 30 years younger than me).  She made me feel very, very old.

Oh I def know what you mean FF, makes you tired even thinking about it haha.

What happened to your back? or is it just one of those times?

Not too bad today because am not walking…

Hope you enjoyed your cake JCJ.

All quiet at the moment but everyone will be descending shortly, YD in mad rush to leave for other city then ED and family, quick visit then lazy times, fingers crossed, pour moi.

Torrential rain here, someone was saying there is meant to be snow next week, oh no xx

PS have the worst hairstyle ever, meant to have it chopped the week of bad weather, then tried for last week, girl on holiday, so will be cut on Mon, am hiding until then haha xx

Nothing has happened to my back. Just the usual niggles, sometimes worse than others. Dr. who operated on it in 2000 (good grief,  that’s eighteen years ago!).  predicted a 85% recovery.  I reckon I got 95%, so I’m not complaining.  It always niggles but sometimes it hurts.  Yesterday was a hurting day.  Todays it’s ok again.

I’ve had a lovely quiet day today reading my books. Tomorrow both families will descend, fortunately not at the same time.  Expecting flowers and cards, getting out the vases now!

Just YD here, not D-I-L, she stayed in Norwich to see her own mother tomorrow and be with her goddaughter for her 2nd birthday.

I didn’t have cake at the garden centre yesterday because my friend didn’t want any (some friend?!) but I did sneak a pack of 2 delicious double chocolate biscuits because my stomach was growling (originally typed “growing” that also works! :p) However, YD brought a box of 4 assorted Pat******* Val**** cakes with her today. They are divine. And enormous. I cut them all in half so we can enjoy some tomorrow too. I don’t think I could have managed a whole one anyway.

I cooked a stew for dinner and I’ve got lamb shanks for tomorrow. I won’t be partaking - boohoo- because I’m still resisting lamb to see if it’s that that causes my stomach problems. I’m going to have some of the turkey that I froze at Christmas. Yum.  I’ll probably make  banana and chocolate buttons cake for pud as YD gave me the recipe and says it’s delicious.

Weather so much milder today. It actually felt pleasant to be outside - between the showers.

Glad your back is better FF x
Hope you both had a lovely day yesterday.
Don’t know what the cakes are???
Just back after yummy meal really good tummy is so full now haha will have to lie down.
Hair was chopped today, what a difference, mop head gone, hurrah xx

I’d not heard of this particular chain of coffee/cake shops until we visited one in Norwich. Pat******* = French word for cake/pastry shop. Val**** is a girl’s name. Think “Singleton”. Think Blue Peter when we were kids!

I had a nice day with YD. No word from ES. I think he’s disowned us. :frowning:

After School Club again tonight. The usual woman is coming back, on a phased return, this week, so I’ll only have to do it a few more times. I’ve quite enjoyed it actually and I *almost* felt disappointed when I heard she was coming back!

Right, hours and hours of Paralympic Winter Olympics to catch up on. Saw some skiing last night. Sooo brave (or mad?) to hurtle down a mountain that fast when you can’t see, or on one leg!!

My cakes: (after I cut them in half)

20180310_152824.jpg

"Pat…Val…?  Ooh err, guessed the first word, no idea of the second, popped it into google and came up with the correct answer!  Yay me!  Never heard of them…but the pictures reminded me of my (and Daughter’s )favourite cake shop in City…aah, we’ve always called it the cake shop. never knew it’s name.  Feel a little silly now :smileysad:

Both families over yesterday, flowers, chocolates, smellies and a book!   A spoilt mummy here.

Popped out to to supermarket to get some milk, I was successful in that. But was horrified to see that the supermarket shelves are even emptier than they were last week. There is no meat to be had, the freezer cabinets are empty!  I adjusted my shopping list according to what was available, thank goodness they did have what I really needed. I still have food in my freezer.  It’s ridiculous, we only had snow for two days!  However the independant shops, the butcher, the baker etc are reaping the benefit as they have plenty.

Cakes are huuuuuuuuuge haha, no wonder you cut them in half:smileyhappy:!

Been all over the place today, arrived home just before six, did all the usual Tues stuff but seemed to take a long time, feet are awful so assume I was walking slowly…roll on next week:smileyfrustrated:

GD is having her beautiful very long blonde hair chopped tomorrow, she has been asking her Mum if she could have it cut for a while now so tomorrow is the day, she doesn’t know yet as it is a surprise, she is going to her Mum’s very posh salon (they don’t usually accept children) she usually has a trim so this will be her first ever haircut!

Have been watching new drama on tv started off reasonable and last week it went haywire, ED said she had started watching it too and said she felt the same, now should or can I be bothered to watch the rest of it???

Not sure, has a great storyline BUT…

YD doesn’t finish until 10pm tonight so all quiet here, no word yet about transfer someone has to leave before she can take up position, was saying to her “bet it’s when we are on holiday” won’t be too much of a calamity as she can stay with friends before she has to flat hunt. The only things she is taking with her is her mountain of clothes, shoes and make up, will miss her but keeping positive, you just have to haha. xx

Thought of you mad lot this lunchtime when I was attempting to change, quickly, in a small staff loo at school. Changing from skirt, leggings and long boots into PE kit (yes! Me. PE. Shocker isn’t it?) I was rushing and stupidly forgot to take off boots before attempting to remove leggings. Thus I very nearly ended up in a tangled heap on the floor. Knee highs! Not tights, but same effect. Tottering about in a confined space, trying to unzip and remove my boots with my leggings around my knees. Not exactly dignified?! It did make me laugh though as soon as I thought “knee highs”

woo hoo for knee highs hahaha!!

Good job you have practice of wearing the aforementioned, who can forget you running with the camels in to the sea at Norcambe, just beautiful…

It’s poured and poured with rain here today, we always say once it starts it forgets to stop.

My, there are soooooooooo many bugs doing the rounds, fingers crossed they stay away.

Hope your swim goes well this evening JCJ xx

JCJ, you must get your school to send you on a “changing into PE kit” course as soon as possible.  There will be one, I get sent on to all sorts of courses, nothing we do can be left to common sense, there has to be a course.  I don’t mind, overtime pay is always useful.

School has been interesting, yesterday the dreaded phone call…Ofsted are coming!!  Loads of extra bodies there last night getting in my way, trying to get all their ducks in a row.  Tonight it’s all smiles and hugs, so I presume it went ok.  They can’t tell me but I can read between lines.

Two of our teachers have KS1 children in the school, they are quite often there after school and I listen to how their day’s gone, play with them, tease them and pretend to hoover them up or dust them if they stay still.  They were there tonight while the teachers had their meeting.  I was the only adult around at the time when one of the children had a slight accident, Pinched her palm between a chair and table  Much crying, wanted Mummy, I applied a cold wet tissue (Ofsted is here, I’m not first aid trained!) so took child to Mummy, interrupted meeting, this was much more important!  Child, 6 yrs old, while clinging to Mummy but now calming down, said, without any prompting, thank you for helping me…I melted into an absolute puddle!

I’ve got my new glasses. I might have difficulty getting used to them?  No, not at all, I can see so much better now with them. They are the kind of lenses that darken to become sunglasses when it’s sunny so I’m still awaiting some sunshine to test that out.    Forecast, maybe tomorrow.

Posted this an hour ago but it disappeared!

Swim went well, despite being sooo tired. After School Club again tonight and it’s such a rush to get home, get fed and get out again. Had to steer well clear of the CBA bench!!

I’m now just over 9 miles down the loch with 15 more to go. There weren’t many in tonight so I didn’t have to dodge and weave. Smugness slightly ruined by the fact that I *accidentally* bought some chocolate peanuts off the swimming pool reception desk (in aid of the air ambulance so it’s almost compulsory? :p). OH claims it’s not possible to “accidentally” buy sweets. What does he know? Fool! Hadn’t better tell him that I seem to have *accidentally* eaten them all as well? Feel a bit sick now. Serves me right?

Colleague who supervises After School Club has returned to work this week, but only part time at the moment. I did Monday, Tuesday & tonight this week and probably will do 2 or 3 sessions next week. It all helps towards the Easter holiday fund.
