Lots to report but will try to be brief. First off thank you for Sunday dinnerJCJ…just scumptious! Missed seeing you in the crowds but a personal best time…well done :smileyhappy:
Spring cleaning? I’ve thought about it…but there’s a good book waiting to be read.
Quiz night on Saturday, our team got 82/100, not too shabby. We were fifth out of seventeen, not too bad…the winning team were all teachers!
Purdie is now quite happy to go out in the catio but does not want to tread on the pea shingle that was put down to deter neighbours cats. I am awaiting delivery of astroturf to cover this, so she’ll be happier then. For now she stays on the paving slabs. All sorts of things still need to be done, it’s still a work in progress.
Construction of the catio has resulted in the removal of my rotary washing line, (I now intend to string a washing line from corner to corner). Today, being in need of dry underwear, I had pegged my *smalls* to the chicken wire. A sort of wall of knickers. Daughter called in and was practically crying with laughter at the sight. Said she would take a photo to show SIL but, thankfully, she forgot to do so.
“a wall of knickers???” hahaha:smileyvery-happy:, you will be the talk of the neighbourhood…
Glad Purdie is venturing into patio and you are not sitting there alone with your knickers on show!!
Had an appt yesterday, nothing to do with anything which meant couldn’t get to supermarket until 5 pm, busy, busy, managed to purchase essentials then went over to other shop, stood pondering for ages and ages looking at throws, YD has one on her bed that is sooooooooo cosy, finally picked up a reasonably priced one but was still not sure as it didn’t seem “weighty” so cosiness may not be that good? Put it on chariot and turned round to collect other stuff and what did I see? Throw, big and fat and heavy, reduced in price, thin one put back and now have cosy one, hurrah!!
Today into town then up to Mums, things are a little better, only been a week so not expecting miracles, we’ll see, was def better to have docs involved than try to deal with it myself…
New creams seem to be ok, the one for my face leaves a thick film so can’t wear it out, looks like I have lots of peeling skin, GD saw me and her eyes about popped out of her head hahaha!!
Spring clean officially over…
Sunshine here but windy so feeling chilly, brrrrrrrrr xx
Trying to be briefS, FF? Heeheehee. I’ve booked you a spot in the Tate Modern for your art installation “_Wall of knickers”. _Lol
Glad mum improving, Katy. I wonder if the throw shop is the one where I bought the girls’ “seaweed” throw (their name for it). It’s huge, green, thick and very fluffy and they love to snuggle up in it on the sofa.
Just been to do the 3-weekly shop, although it’s 4 weeks since we went because of the holiday - I think. That may explain why it cost a LOT more than usual. Or it could be that I was hungry and thirsty. Talking to YD on WhatsApp. I told her I was hungry and thirsty and that the shop may not go strictly to plan - many items not on my list likely to find their way into my trolley because it’s difficult to be disciplined when one’s hungry and tempted by EVERYTHING! She suggested 2 trolleys. I said maybe three? She sent me a picture that literally had me guffawing out loud in the middle of the veg aisle:
Gosh, I miss her! Thank goodness for mobile phones.
Do you know what’s happening yet in July JCJ??? Am terrible regarding surprises…
Been a little busy yesterday and today and will be again tomorrow, am needing quiet time haha.
Sunny but windy here so feels cold, brrrrr. ED had a look at projected weather when we are on hol and each day it’s 30 degrees, will def be warm:smileyhappy:
Tunic tops came one perfect the other not really a tunic as it’s shorter at the front but it’s pretty so will keep it, have my eye on another one, it will be nice feeling comfy, may even wear on train journey to Norcambe.
Where are you now JCJ, with your swim?
And are you still sitting surrounded by knickers FF?? xx
Apparently I am between Culag and Luss, Katy. I’ve got about 9 1/2 miles left to go so I won’t make it by half term (4 weeks) but I should do it before we break up for the summer. IIwas swimming all by myself again for the last 10 minutes. No I don’t know any more about July. Don’t even know if we’re visiting the girls at half term!
Painter/decorator has been booked to paint the hall, stairs and landing (and all 7 door frames, 1 loft hatch and a windowsill!) whilst we are away on holiday in August. Slightly nervous about this, but online recommendations have said others have done this happily with him and our neighbours are great and will keep half an eye on him. It will be so much less hassle than trying to be in the house while he’s working - especially as we only have the upstairs loo! It’s been needing doing for YEARS (last done at least 16 years ago!) but I’m useless with heights so can’t contemplate doing over the stairs (ES did it last time) and don’t want OH doing it (he always used to make a mess decorating BEFORE he had PD tremors in his hands - but don’t tell him I said that! :p)
Coming back to newly decorated, woo hoo, that’s the best way to do it!
What colours are you doing?
9 & 1/2 miles that’s good going, whew if I wore a hat I would take it off to you:smileyhappy:
GS is being potty trained so a lot of bathroom visits today, he had a couple of accidents then got the hang of it…we celebrated by doing the “hurrah dance”…don’t ask hahaha!!
Ran into town before shops closed, just made it, then up to Mums, difference is AMAZING, am truly delighted.
She still has a bit to go but today was lovely, could actually sit and chat for the first time in months and months, have a happy heart tonight.
The weather, have never seen anything like it, started with massive hailstones, a bit of thunder and lightening then torrential rain, lasted for around half an hour then sunshine???
Sky is now turning black again…
Passed that chippie on way home, just had to go in xx
Banana and chocolate buttons cake in the shed. I took 2 into school because it’s *somebody*'s birthday today. It was well received. I cut the slices in half because lots of colleagues are on a diet. Then we all ate lots of mini slices! “Half the calories, eat four times as much”?
The decorating is all I asked for for my birthday. I just want it redone in more-or-less the same colour as it is now: white ceiling and woodwork with Matt blue emulsion on walls. OH also got me a toy stuffed otter that I commented on when we were in the RSPB shop at Carsington Water. Perfume and a CD from YD and even a text from ES! Wow! Made my day.
Comment in card from YD: “You’ll also enjoy what’s in Dad’s card”!! OH’s birthday on Monday, (but we’re going to pretend it’s Sunday). I wonder if this cryptic puzzle is linked to the July one?? Only a couple of days to wait. Itching to find out!
Table booked for Sunday Lunch at a nice pub we’ve been to before, but not for quite a long time. Last year, there were lambs in a nearby field and I’m hoping there will be again because I really missed seeing lambs when we were away at Easter.
Weather COLD and damp. Heating has been turned off at school “because it’s the Summer Term” so we had to put our coats on, today, to work in the spare classroom as it was ****** freezing!
Woo hoo scooby/booby doo happy birthday to you J CJ xx
Ooh now I need to know what’s in card hee hee!
Have a wonderful happy day.
Balloons on benches fireworks cake and glitterberry juice on the go. Aliburgers cooking.
Am standing with tiara and ballgown on making bad words with the sparklers xx
Happy Birthday JCJ, *raises a glass*! Cake delicious. So pleased you got a text from ES.
Oh… to go away and have the decorating finished when you get back…you’ve given me an idea there.
Katy, such language, what on earth does that last word mean? NO, you can’t say on here, tell me at Norcambe. Sooooo glad your Mum is so much better.
Washing line now up in catio , so no more “wall of knickers” (just awaiting the Turner Prize). Opened the door for Purdie this morning and she looked at me as much to say “you ARE joking!” Yes, it was raining, she’s dared to go out in a bit of drizzle but this was torrential.
I went to local supermarket this morning, had made a list of essentials that I left at home. Tried to remember them, tried to think of what I might want for for dinner in three days time and just generally lost the will to live. Arrived home, had a cup of tea, found the list and discovered that I’d got everything on it , cuddled Purdie and felt a lot better.
Friends from Hertfordshire coming down next weekend, must springclean house, get catio sorted, it’s going to a be a busy week!
Am I the only person in the universe that is not fussed about lemon drizzle cake? It’s ok, and thank you JCJ but why DO people make such a fuss about it?
Been to next door town today to get things for the catio. After extensive research on the internet came to the conclusion that supermarket has the best deal for artificial grass. But not at *my* supermarket, only available in larger towns. Whilst there, popped into *R goose* and got two outdoor plastic hanging flower balls. Cheap by comparison with others. Found out why…came in halves with instructions how to put together. Marry up the male and female joins and press together until click is heard.
No they don’t marry up, don’t fit, not even the first one will click together. Have tied them together with string and they look fine.
Also bought a hedgehog garden ornament, it was the last one left and was reduced in price and I felt sorry for him.
Sorry, no Sunday roast dinner today - unless I smuggle some back from the pub, which is certainly possible as it’s all virtual anyway?! - as Queen Whatserface said: “Let them eat cake!”
Got up late. Stripped bed. Having small breakfast (predictive text assumed I wanted to write "having small breasts there! WRONG!) because I’ll be eating a big meal at lunchtime - not used to it, usually eat in the evening. Probably should put this down and get the ironing done before we go. Certainly won’t want to do it when we get back - or double next week! - and I never seem to get around to it in the week.
Card is open! YD has bought us tickets for Cirque Berserk at a theatre in a nearby city on 26th July! She and D-I-L have been to see them twice, in Norwich, and recommended them to us. I’ve been looking out for when they were going to be near us. (Booked Cirque de Soleil in October because I got confused, but I know that’s brilliant too because I’ve seen them on TV)
The downside is that that means YD is not expecting to go camping with me that week. Ah well. I didn’t expect her to want to do it forever; she’s a married lady (well we’d all dispute the “lady” bit :p) now, and I’ve got all the memories from previous holidays with her.
Dinner wasn’t exactly amazing. OH said it wasn’t a patch on mine! But at least we did something different and we had a nice walk; the rain held off for us, even if it wasn’t sunny. Also, I didn’t have to cook and OH won’t have to wash up.
Oooh! Is it time to sample the lemon cake? Never made it before. Hope it’s ok.
Hurrah the card is open, lovely surprise and something to look forward to:smileyhappy:!
Sorry it’s not your camping trip:smileysad: But great to have those wonderful memories, lots of laughter and fun.
Mmmm that’s not so good your meal out but as you say no cooking or dishes to do. Did you go somewhere near??
The spring clean is still on, don’t know what’s wrong with me??? Went into freezer last night cause no dinner at yours JCJ, and thought why is the drawer sticking? It’s sticking cause there is about a foot of ice, had to defrost, grrrr took ages…Then this morning decided to wash curtains, a job indeed. All done now and Spring Clean is officially done and dusted, for at least 5 years haha xx
I feel your pain about freezer defrosting! I have to do mine quite regularly - at least 4 times a year - because the ice builds up so much we can’t shut the door ( not helped by OH sometimes not shutting the drawers properly - but I’m sure I’ve had that particular rant before?! :()
Curtain washing? My living room curtains, which are HUGE: - large picture window and French doors - are velvet, bought in 2000 and have never been cleaned. (What a tramp?) Every year I say I’ll take them to the dry cleaners and every year I contemplate how heavy they are, what a faff it will be to get them down and how much it’s likely to cost; and every year I just hoover them instead!
Sunday Lunch pub was about half an hour’s drive away, near Calke Abbey which has beautiful grounds to walk in. There weren’t any lambs though. Another disappointment.
I felt so guilty for not providing dinner last night that I’ve cooked for you all tonight: roast turkey (kept in freezer, off the big beast at Christmas) boiled new potatoes, crispy kale, courgettes in garlic butter, carrots and gravy. There’s still some banana and chocolate cake and some lemon drizzle cake too. Quite impressed with both - though, as you say FF, lemon drizzle not *that* special. Lovely, but no need to get hysterical about it!?
Feel a bit **** today. Filthy cold. I hope it doesn’t develop into a cough again. Going to dose myself up and get to bed early.
Washing my curtains is a job I need to do. But not yet. Two pairs in my living room as as two windows. They are only cotton and fit in the washing machine but it needs to be a good drying day to get them back up before nightfall so probably done late May/June?
Purdie happily going outside whenever it’s warm enough for me to keep the back door open. Today lovely and warm but raining. She went out and very quickly came back in and just sat in the open doorway watching the rain.
I’ve got so much to do before friends arrive on Friday…she is the Queen of Clean so I’ve got to springclean everywhere and get rid of all the stuff that’s been sitting in my hallway waiting to go the tip for about six months and finish off the catio. I’ve got three days left, I’m going to be busy. A great incentive, otherwise it might take even more months.
4 times a year?? Am not going to tell you how long it’s been since I defrosted hahaha.
Hope your cold is not too bad JCJ:smileysad:
FF, hope you are spring cleaning, right at this moment hahaha.
Was on the “so,so tired” bench last night near the “my feet are killing me” bench, lido tomorrow so that should give me much needed relief, slept terribly too, really uncomfortable…says moaning minnie…
So having quiet time today and will be off to bed early tonight.
Have purchased a few new tops for holiday, really pleased, still cannot find black trousers, you think it would be easy but must be supremely fussy, have seen a pair that would be good for hols and was going to go into shop yesterday but just couldn’t, shop is a little off the main street and it would have really been too much effort haha.
YD is fed up of waiting and has booked a holiday, wait till you see something will come up…
Poured with rain here most of night and most of this morning, clear now but grey, grey skies xx
