Hope lido goes well tomorrow, Katy. Minimal SEs. Minimal hassle. Maximum benefit. x
Is your house sparkly clean ready for your visitors, FF?
I’ve spent the entire evening, apart from a brief period simultaneously ordering DIL’s birthday present online and cooking dinner, on the CBA bench. No energy. Bed now.
Is my house sparkly clean for my visitors? Well, it’s almost there. Just the bathroom to polish up to a sparkle. My house may get untidy but it doesn’t get unclean! Daughter’s car in the garge today for repairs, she came to mine for a muggatea, I was supposed to then take her home but we decided to go out to local garden centre and she bought me lunch for my Birthday tomorrow. I bought some more ivy for the catio. Couldn’t put it up tonight as it was persisting down!
Purdie totally refused to go out. Smart cat! Saw a sign at the garden center that said " Dogs have owners, Cats have staff" very true.
Party tomorrow, get out the bling! Abba will feature a lot. Alliburgers ( I wrangled a few alligators earlier this week). Glitterberry juice will be flowing. Get your glad rags on girls, I only have a Birthday once a year :smileyvery-happy:
Thank you girls, you have made my day! Watching you swimming JCJ, nimbly avoiding the alligators with the sparkler held aloft and still spelling out the worserer words, well…just amazing.
Katy, what on earth are you wearing? I’m just dazzled by the sequins, the knee highs, the flashing boots, the fairy lights. But you carry off the look so well! We definitely need to take fashion lessons from you :smileyhappy:
I’ve had a lovely day. Daughter and youngest GD came over with flowers and cake. Then after school tonight I went to Daughters for dinner.
Every Birthday card I have received has featured a tabby kitten! There’s a theme going on here…
Son coming over tomorrow, then friends arrive and no I’m still not sparkly enough, tomorrow will be extra busy.
It WAS amazing FF, JCJ’s sparkling adventure, almost on par with your head spinning, such talented girls:smileyhappy:
As for the fashion just threw a couple of things together hahaha!
Glad you had a lovely day and more to follow, enjoy:smileyhappy:!!
Lido has knocked me for six this time…brain so fuddled on Thurs and body completely lethargic…looks like will end up with sub cut, mmmmmmmmmm, not happy…
They have changed suppliers of plasters and am now allergic…so am on the “can’t move and fed up” bench. Will try and go out today, later, if don’t manage will be at your house JCJ for Sat and Sun dinner???
On the “good news” bench also, ED has a job interview soon the application form stated that applicants would be contacted between 2-8 weeks, she waited 3 days so looks very promising, her course finishes in June.
And GD has been accepted for her new school, she is not in catchment area, woo hoo!
You are welcome to come for dinner tonight and tomorrow - or any time! - and the benefit of virtual meals is that not only to they have no calories, you won’t have to sit and watch OH eating for HOURS. Honestly, it gets worse. He never was a quick eater but now, with the hand tremors and general slowness, he takes aaages to eat. Last week, when we went out for Sunday lunch, I watched everyone else have starters, mains, desserts AND, in some cases, coffee, whilst OH just ate his main. :( I know it’s rude to get down from the table while someone is still eating but sometimes I get so frustrated. Life’s too short to spend hours on every meal?!
Oops! Slipped into moan mode mode there, sorry! That’s obviously been niggling for a while?! :smileyembarrassed:
Hope you’re feeling a bit more “yourself” after the lido, KTC. Woohoo! about YD and GD news. Wishing her good luck with the interview.
Hope you have a fab time with your friends, FF. Looks like the weather here is going to be lovely; hope it is likewise around your way.
Had a bit of a mental blip yesterday: probably overtired as I’ve not slept well for a few nights. Pains in damaged boob - an ongoing thing, get them quite often, but coupled with reappearance of that flaky skin, I was in full on panic mode for several hours. Of course, the skin seems to have cleared up again already, so there’ll be nothing to show doc if I did make an appointment. Gave myself a stern talking to:
Mammogram just 6 months ago was fine
Pains are the same as I frequently get and nowhere near where the skin problem is
Get a grip
Only lumpiness is that which has been there since RT
Seeing onc in a few weeks
Always have a bit of a wobble as onc appointment approaches
Get a grip
Do something to distract self from the “what if…?” Loop
Get a grip.
Going to enjoy the sunshine and do some wilderness taming in the garden. May even go to the farm shop for a quick (yeh, right!) light lunch.
If you are seeing onc in a couple of weeks, that’s really good, you can tell them all your worries.
STERN VOICE:
Is skin being irritated by bra?? or clothing?? Does it look like eczema? Also boob pain am sure it’s radio that causes it, well doesn’t help it anyway. Can you still contact your BCN? If you can phone them. You can then be seen earlier by onc which would put your mind at rest. Would try them instead of doc or phone the secretary of onc, just do it asap. Why wait???
Am still sitting here, looks like I’ll be there tonight…xx
Dinner tonight is gammon, roasties, roast beetroot, smashed roots, courgette in garlic butter, cauliflower in wholegrain mustard dressing and parsley sauce, followed by raspberries, ice cream, chocolate sauce and shortbread biscuits. All welcome.
I. Am. Stuffed. Now on the Snooker watching bench for the next few hours.
Went to the bluebell woods this afternoon. Beautiful! I love bluebells. Would put a photo in but tablet and/or website playing silly b.s “unfortunately chrome has stopped ok” NO IT’S NOT OK! grrrr!
Really enjoying the anticipation of not having to get up at 7am tomorrow. However, Tuesday will be a shock because the good weather and a 3 day weekend has put me in full-on holiday mode!
Yum yum, thank you 2 nights in a row?? What am I like???
Lido has completely floored me this time, everything is an effort, as in huge effort…
Weather here is lovely too, am meant to go out for my muggachoc today (have it no matter the weather) but am not sure:smileyfrustrated: am hoping to feel much better tomorrow. xx
Thank you, Bubbler (oops! Nearly called you Blubber - not the same thing at all!!), for taking the time to reply.
My “damaged boob” is just a small patch of flaky skin on the areola under the nipple on my BC side (hence “damaged”: WLE surgery and RT). I only discovered it because there was a mark in my bra. It cleared up, before the Easter bank holiday was even over, with just one application of sudocrem (other antiseptic, soothing creams are available!). I *thought* there was a red patch there, (but no itching or rash as such: think flaky pastry!!) Having read about it (careful googling only!) I learned that this is often accompanied by a burning pain. So, of course, that is what I *thought* I could feel. Oddly enough, this pain never occurred unless I was actively thinking about it!! The other pains in that boob, (nowhere near where the skin problem is) that I have had since the op and have discussed with onc and surgeon, carry on, intermittently, as before. They are, apparently, most likely to be nerve damage.
Last week (with another Bank holiday looming) The skin started to peel again. Again it cleared up with one use of Sudocrem, before I could even contact doc or BCN. I have dry skin issues elsewhere, due to the dreaded Tapoxyfen, so I’m reasonably sure that’s all this is - or perhaps, Katy might be right: bra irritation - (that cup is a bit looser so it could be rubbing?) I’m assuming that if this was anything to worry about it wouldn’t keep disappearing, but I shall definitely mention it to onc when I see her at the beginning of July, for 6th annual check up (part of REACT trial, so I get 10 years of annual check ups). If it comes back and doesn’t clear up again, before then, I will definitely try and get the appointment brought forward. Otherwise, I’m just going to stop winding myself up. I hope!
Thanks again for your support. (I love this forum! Thank you BCC!) I hope you continue to be NED. xx
Boob skin seems perfectly normal again! No idea what’s going on!
Managed 1800m tonight in “the Loch”. And I fetched a rubber brick off the floor of the pool on the ramp down into the deep end. Glad that went to plan! I offered to get it to save any of the staff having to get in to get it or attempt to fish it out. I was the last person in the pool and it would have been very embarrassing to be flailing about failing to retrieve it watched by all the lifesavers!
I am currently having to swim around the islands near Milarrochy, but I’ve only got about 7 1/4 miles left to go. Get your kilts out of mothballs and start brewing up the haggis - should be there by mid July.
As I came home from swimming . I was pleased to notice it was still light. Then I depressed myself by realising we’re only about 6 weeks away from the longest day! All down hill from there?!
Hope you had a good time with your friends, FF, and hope you’re back to your normal (???) self, Katy, after the lido exhaustion.
Glad flaky skin has gone, but do not forget to mention to onc/doc or nurse, so easy to get caught up in the moment and forget.
Am still on the “depleted energy” bench, better than it was but still not right:smileyfrustrated:
Went for a walk with GS yesterday was sunny but very windy, by the time we arrived home we both had the same hairstyle, wind blown to the extreme, we were not a pretty sight.
Have been lounging a lot on the sofa with my throw even during the day, not like me at all.
And watching a whole series that YD recommended, finished last night, really enjoyed as there were lots of twists.
Am out today but thankfully can go at my own pace, no running allowed haha.
I had a lovely time with my friends but it put me on the knackered bench for ages. So much walking, dawdling and mooching about and eating cream teas and cakes. I think I’ve about recovered now but so glad I have nothing to do this weekend :smileyhappy:
I’ve got my kilt ready for the celebrations JCJ, keep going!
Hope you are feeling better today Katy.
I’ve spent this last week on the just about surving bench, think I can pick up and rejoin the world tomorrow.
Woo hoo the party animal is back hahaha:smileyhappy:
What are you like FF???
We have sunshine, another woo hoo!!
Am staying in though still not right so it’s obviously not the lido…
Wait till I tell you this…on the phone with ED yesterday said to her that’s ridiculous you have not received any word about blood tests to be arranged, told her to phone docs and see what’s going on. She did and phoned me back, the docs and hospital are in the midst of an arguement regarding who is doing the blood tests, docs says it’s not in their budget and should be hospital that’s arranging, hospital says it should be docs…WHAT??? So she is in limbo…she was very firm and stated that as she was being tested for a serious condition someone had better get something organised asap. There is also some sort of issue regarding consultant as he should have arranged it, so as he is 100’s of miles from here will she have tests done at his hospital??? She will find out on Mon where she is going. She also asked when she was going to be notified of this arguing, answer “shortly”, don’t think so, if ED hadn’t phoned it wouldn’t have been sorted anytime soon. An official complaint has been issued. Absolutely ridiculous grrrrrrrrrrrrr xx
Katy, that’s absolutely apalling, to be caught in an argument over a blood test which costs what? Peanuts compared to some medical procedures… I’m glad your Daughter was firm and put in an official complaint. As you said, absolutely ridiculous. Maybe Monday will bring some answers, otherwise go on the warpath.
Hope you are feeling better today.
I’ve had a lovely quiet day, just me and a book and some tv tonight. Son over tomorrow to cut the front grass, growing like crazy from the sun and the rain.
What a horrible position for your ED to be put in! Docs in a spat doesn’t help when she’s already worried about what might be wrong! However, I think I can guess what’s going on: Doc doesn’t think she needs any more tests as he(she?)'s already decided she has NOT got the condition, so she/he, understandably, doesn’t want to use already overstretched funds to pay for the test. Consultant/hospital will not expect to pay for tests as they are usually referred from docs? Everything comes down to money these days, unfortunately.
Oh my goodness! Not typed using a ‘proper’ keyboard for so long (laptop at work, tablet at home) that EVERY word of the first 2 sentences had mistakes in them! To think I once passed RSA Level 3 Word Processing - with a distinction! Modern technology: the thief of skills? :smileyfrustrated: Only used the big computer because it was on so I could use the printer. Must be less lazy and put it on more often? Or not! :smileytongue:
I think the knackeration must be catching: nothing to do with visiting friends or Lido - must be a Benchland bug? I was soooo tired yesterday that I went for a nap in the afternoon and slept, on and off, for THREE HOURS! Still not quite ‘right’ today. Don’t feel ill, just tired.
Son over today and cut the grass, they didn’t stop long as they had to head back to host a birthday tea party for GD and six other little girls. DIL is doing make up and nails, a young pamper party :smileyhappy: GD is 8 tomorrow, cake will be in the shed.
Youngest GS with ADHD has now started on Ritalln. Son and DIL have never wanted to medicate him before but now that he’s 12 and getting harder to handle and more able to understand that he’s different and distressed about his own behaviour, the three of them decided to try it. He’s been looking forward to it.
!0mg made no difference at all, this week on 20 mg, he said to them “It’s nice to be quieter”. How heartbreaking is that?! Hopefully it will help him.
Trying to sort out my week, son wants to borrow my car to get to his work while his car gets a new clutch. I need to make some phone calls tomorrow.
