Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Well, you would have got your money’s worth, FF: Just decided to use the hosepipe with sprayer attachment to water the front flower beds - I’m convinced it actually uses less water than repeatedly filling the watering can - it certainly involves far less schlepping to and fro! The only drawback is fighting the hose back into submission onto its hook! Anyway, merrily watering away and I become aware that my feet and legs are cooler than they were. Look down. Hose is spraying out of the connector all over me. Now sitting in soggy shorts. I wasn’t actually serious about showering outside!!

Rain dancing is having no effect down here, not a cloud in the sky , my indoor thermometer says 29.6 degrees, I’m slowly melting.  Wearing a pair of cotton shorts that I cut down from pyjama bottoms three years ago and a spaghetti strap top that I bought in a charity shop.  I do not usually wear that type of clothing and would never go out in it but it’s ok at home as long as no one comes to visit.

Thank you for dinner JCJ, delicious as usual, didn’t eat a lot of the first course as was so eager to get onto dessert.

Birthday cake is also in the shed as Purdie is one year old today!  I bought her a new bed as the one that she’s had is now far too small.  I gave it to her about 10 days ago and put the cushion from the old bed in it so it would smell the same.  She’s not having it though, just drags it about and gets under it and moves it about.  It’s comical watching the bed seemingly moving across the room under it’s own volition.

Can’t blame her for not wanting to get into a furry bed in this heat, but I just need her to accept it as a familiar homely item when she has to go into the cattery.

Still no rain here but it is significantly cooler and cloudy.

Had the news today that HMI will be visiting tomorrow & Wednesday Deep joy?!! On sports day! On Wednesday, half the juniors are out at an athletics tournament too, so there’s less of us to take the pressure. Test results also out tomorrow so fingers crossed they are reasonable (not expecting brilliant results due to the children in that cohort!) or we’ll be back in the sh** again!

Firmly on the tennis bench for the evening.

I’m still melting,no cooler here yet but forecast is for cooler tomorrow, please …I live in hope…Going into City with Daughter tomorrow, not intending to browse just to get what we need and get out again.

Hope your visit from HMI goes well.  Our test results are never counted as we are such a small school, we only have one Year 6 pupil this year.

Purdie 1 can hardly believe it, where did that year go??

Hope your town visit was fine, we have been terribly stuffy today, grey clouds but hot hot:smileyfrustrated:

Also hoping your visit went well JCJ, am hoping you are not wearing your soggy shorts…

Have been on the “feeling yuck” bench, am thinking it maybe the cream, nausea hitting throughout the day, yuck!

Went out to our favourite restaurant for tea last night and didn’t enjoy:smileysad:, now I know it’s not the food cause it is always lovely…hopefully pass soon.

YD booked another holiday today, she says she is postponing her moving for this year, am soooooooooooo glad xx

Purdie says thank you very much Rubycat for her cake and I do too.  A new friend for her as well?

Katy, get some anti nausea meds down you pdq, and if they don’t work ask your Dr. for prescription meds…  Nausea from chemo can be controlled, don’t go suffering…get meds… but then beware the constipation, so you’ll needs meds. for that too.  Sorry you didn’t enjoy your meal.

Your YD seems to be permanently on holiday, she must have a well paying job :smileyhappy: Glad you are not having empty nest syndrome this year! (She know’s which side her bread’s buttered!)

City visit went well, cooler this am and cloudy, much nicer, we bought what we went for and then came home, no browsing. A short stop on the way home for grocery shopping.

I was home in time to watch some tennis before school and then decided to record what was left of the Williams v Giorgi match.  I am so glad I did as after watching it end, there was an interview with Andy and I learned that he is commentating on a match tomorrow. That will be interesting, seeing how he does as a commentator.

No soggy shorts - although I was wearing (long) shorts because it was sports day - and, although cooler this morning, I was pretty sweaty by home time! :stuck_out_tongue: Can’t really tell how the visit is going. It seemed to be going ok. Lots of families came to enjoy sports day and the picnic on the field. There was a lovely atmosphere. He said he understood the pressure on us in the penultimate week of the year, that we must carry on with planned events and that he knew he couldn’t have too high expectations of classroom behaviour! That’s more than OFSTED allowed in the penultimate week before Christmas!!

Half the school are out tomorrow: the weeny ones on a theatre trip and 40 KS2 at an inter school athletics event. That leaves less of us as the focus of his attentions! :frowning:

Saw some super tennis tonight - the Murray doubles. Really entertaining, as was his mixed doubles last night. I heard about Andy Murray commentating tomorrow and am also intrigued to see how good he’ll be. Also mildly concerned that that might signal the end of his playing career? :frowning: At least he’s won some Grand Slams, unlike some of the other commentators - mentioning no names - whose criticisms are sometimes hard to hear. I often shout at the tele: “If you’re so expert, why isn’t it YOU on the court?!!”

Didn’t sleep well the last few nights so I’m soooo tired. Only 8 more get ups. Nearly there.

I agree with FF, Katy, get some anti nausea meds asap. Hope you feel better soon and the cream does it’s stuff on the b*****d cancer!

Bedtime snzzzzzzzz

Oh and ???

Thank you soooooooooooo much:smileyhappy: Nausea at bay, woke up and felt yuck remembered I had nausea tabs in cupboard took one and it was gone in 15 mins, hurrah!!!

So am sitting on the “dumb, dumb” bench, honestly can’t thank you enough:smileyhappy:

Have made an appt for Fri, think another has appeared so want to get it checked quickly and will see about more tabs then.

We are dull again today, no sunshine at all but still stuffy hot, have all the windows open!

Hope you are doing ok FF.

Have been thinking that if you went in with your tiara and ballgown JCJ, the report would be glowing, maybe worth a thought???

Have both GC tomorrow morning for a couple of hours so have treats in for them and am thinking about painting, we’ll see haha xx

It’s been raining here WHAT???

GC were not at mine today, I went to theirs, GS forced me to eat the sweets he didn’t like…yuck I don’t like them either haha.

Have some superly, duperly big news…I am going to be…a nannie again, woo hoo!! Balloons on benches, have known for ages but it was ED’s scan this morning so now I can announce to all haha.

Came home feeling sooo tired so went to bed and slept for ages.

Had a muggatea a short while ago and thought mmmmmmmmm, am going to eat a bag of sweets M*******s, yum yum, got up to put finished muggatea away and empty packet in bin, came back and there is a squashed M******** on the sofa, aaaaargh!! had to clean sofa and leggings so much for my little piece of enjoyment…

Docs appt tomorrow feel a little nervous, fingers crossed again please girls xx

The temperature has dropped here and a little bit of rain this morning, not a lot but it’s been cloudy today.  So much nicer.  Makes me feel so much better.

Still watching the green tennis, so sorry that Federer out but what a match.  Well done to Anderson just not giving up!  Today…Yay to Serena…can she win it?

Just seen your post katy,  whoo hoo a nannie again,  Soooooo exciting,

Re Drs. appt. tomorow, get anti nausea meds and anti constpation meds and I hope all goes well. My fingers and toes are well and truly crossed for you

Congratulations KTC!! Lovely news. Everything crossed for Doc appointment.

Glad your weather is a bit more comfortable, FF. It’s cloudy here but still very warm. Weather warnings for thunder tomorrow morning. I hope it does. We could do with a darn good downpour! All the grass is scorched brown and we have had to top up the pond using tap water twice since it last rained!! Don’t want the tadpoles and froglets to be beached! Not to worry though - the drought will definitely come to an end, at least in mid Wales, 2 weeks tomorrow because that is when I’ll be in a field with YD!

Sooo tired today. When I woke up at 5:30am needing a bathroom visit I was absolutely convinced it was Saturday. Just dropping back off to sleep, thinking I could sleep for hours, when I thought "I didn’t have my chips last night! Or go swimming. Oh @#£%! It’s only Thursday. What a long week!

OH got the tele on ridiculously loud downstairs and, because I’m so tired, it’s making me very angry. Put away all sharp implements and that mallet or I won’t be responsible for my actions!! :frowning:

Did you see the Del Potro (sp?) /Nadal match yesterday, FF? It was an absolute cracker! So close, some brilliant tennis and both players had so much respect for each other!

Am on the “woo hoo” bench, new mark is not “C”, woo hoo:smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy:, it’s a pre so have been given cream to get rid off that one and the many more…am so, so happy!!!

Your double crossing def works! Thank you!!!

Have new anti nausea tabs too, doc says she has never heard of nausea being an issue before but did advise me to stop using, then restart again, I said I didn’t want to do that just want to keep going with it till it’s done, hence the tabs. If you “Dr Google” and check forums lots of people have nausea and headaches. It’s def working cause yesterday all scabby, scab fell off today and it bled a little but believe it or not it looks pretty good.

Hope you are ok FF, weather here is very, very stuffy and hot.

Were all sharp implements hidden JCJ?? Where is your OH now??? Should we be worried???

Arrived home a short while ago to YD showing me a large bruise on her arm, she had slipped coming out of the shower ouchy ouch, she is going to hide in her room until today is over haha.

It’s been a great 13th for me:smileyhappy:xx

OH safe. He turned volume down after about half an hour. It’s Friday today so I can cope better with tiredness. Also bouyed by the thought of This time next week…!!! He’s gone out for the evening - his swimming and pub night so I get some much needed me space.

Woohoo! Glad no more scares, KTC.  Could your nausea be due to Lido? Sometimes you said it made you feel icky?

Last night at swimming, I had to renew my membership card (which has to be bought but reduces the weekly  cost such that it pays for itself in about 12 weeks). Last time I renewed it cost me £11+ including £3.40 for the swim session. Last night she charged me £7.70 including £2.50 for the swim. I paid it and went in for the swim but I was confused. Prices NEVER go down? Had she sold me a monthly membership instead of annual? Was there a special offer on? Will I get into trouble next week because I’ve under paid? Should I have said something? Tonight I went on their website and discovered  she assumed I was an OAP!! Well!  I was initially annoyed and offended. But it’s saved me money and I didn’t tell any fibs! It will be interesting to see what they charge me for the swim next week - oh, I won’t be there, it’s the Y6 leavers’ evening and the week after we’re at the theatre. Who knows when I’ll get to sort it out!

Marathon of tennis tonight!

I only saw highlights of the Nadal/ Del Potro match, I  wish I had seen it all. Loved the embrace at the end, just so much respect.

I would have been here sooner but I’ve been watching Isner v Anderson.  Started watching at 1pm when it began, had to go to school for two and a half hours and when I came home it was still ongoing. 5th set 16 all, such a shame there had eventually to be a loser, they were both amazing.

So glad for you Katy that the new mark is not “C” and that you have have anti nausea tabs,  Please have anti consipation meds on hand too, as one leads to the other.

Earplugs JCJ, then you won’t be able to hear the tele and get annoyed.

An OAP??? What are you like??? Hahaha:smileyhappy:

Glad your OH is safe…

All quiet in Benchland due to tennis, have you had the obliglatory strawberries and cream, FF & JCJ???

Booked assistance for train journey today, gosh it’s getting closer and closer…

Am feeling ok no sickness tabs needed, hurrah, a bit of a thumpy head though but that maybe due to air pressure, dull and stuffy here again. Don’t think it’s lido as if you feel sicky it’s only that day and some of the next:smileyfrustrated: and because I have nausea tabs during lido now, nausea is usually only light.

Hair being chopped tomorrow, it’s such a mess, have a flat head hairstyle at the moment, not a pretty sight…

Away to lounge around until dinner, are we allowed to come this evening JCJ?? xx

Of course you are welcome for dinner! Tonight it is roast chicken, roasties, roast parsnips, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, cabbage, buttery leeks, redcurrant jelly and gravy followed by American style cheesecake (bought, I’m afraid - I’ve been busy on the tennis bench!) with raspberries (homegrown from our freezer.)

I snapped a tooth in half on my first mouthful! :frowning: Now I’ve got to try to fit a dentist appointment into an already busy week. It’s not hurting at the moment and, although there’s a rough edge, I don’t think it’s going to lacerate my tongue like last time I broke a tooth. That tooth is already mostly filling and now there’s even less tooth. And it’s next to the gap where I had one removed (due to a bodged filling) years ago. :frowning: Dentures here we come? OAP? Me???

Yes, of course I’ve had strawberries and cream…not every day, just most of them :smileywink:

Not your week JCJ, first an OAP moment then breaking a tooth!  Thank you for dinner, scrumptious as usual.

Mens tennis final just a little disappointing but not unexpected. If only Anderson had got one of those break ponts and got to a fourth set.  But I watched two wonderful semi’s so I’m happy …and bereft, what am I going to do now?

Oh yes, mend an Elsa dress for my youngest GD, that was my task for tonight.  Disney play dresses sooooo expensive so this one, bought at a charity shop was worth mending. Fortunately I had the right colour cotton in my sewing box.  This kind of inspired me so I sewed sparkly buttons onto my canvas shoes to jazz them up a bit!

Hahaha! Benchland and real life collide. FF has rhinestone shoes! Going to bed with a big smile on my face.

Only five more get ups!
