Think it’s the journey that makes things worse, felt ok a couple of hours after getting home but am feeling superly tired today though don’t have time to lounge around…
Meeting was cancelled as of yesterday, will now take place on Fri so this allows me to catch up and get into town today.
Glad you explained “the men” JCJ, hahaha:smileyvery-happy:
Also on the “C*** is still going on” bench, YD’s blood tests have come back abnormal:smileysad: xx
Oooh JCJ’s got “men” to do her bidding…I’ll accept your explanation as I too, could get men under those circumstances.
Hope you are feeling ok tonight, Katy, don’t overdo it and I hope the lido does its work. Hope YD’s blood is easily fixable.
Glad that you can spend money on knickers rather than glasses JCJ. That is a good result. Victoria Secret?
I’m now paying the price for having the week off to watch the European Games. I’m back at work this week.
Nearly done now, only the annexe tomorrow and the toilets on Friday. As they were deep cleaned two weeks before the end of term they won’t take too long.
Weather is good , nice temperature (no more need for heating), some sunshine, some showers.
Not Victoria Secret, FF, but what you do to tell a secret: whis***! Practical, comfortable passion killers at 4 for under £8. Very similar to Slog** but less than 1/3 of the price!
OH in a complete a**e again yesterday, but he snapped out of it much quicker than usual: 12 hours instead of 48 or more. It did make me think I actually wanted to go back to work though. Every cloud…?
Finished another book - that’s 4 this holiday (I know, I know, FF reads more than that in a weekend!) and completed another knitted teddy. New pattern and I’m not convinced I haven’t put his head on back to front; with this floofy wool it’s so hard to see the seams! YD says he has a cute, squiffy face, so I’m calling him Squiffy!
Went to the wool shop and bought some white bamboo enriched yarn(didn’t even know that was a thing, but it’s recommended for babies and lovely and soft) to knit a baby blanket. No reason!
PS Glad your meeting was postponed, Katy, gives you more time to recover from lido. Try not to run around too much. Also hoping YD’s “abnormality” is a quickly and easily treated thing. xxx
Squiffy does look a little squiffy, one over the eight with the glitterberry juice? But so very cute! Bamboo enriched wool? Sounds as if it would be scratchy and full of pandas. How do you knit around a panda trying to eat the bamboo wool? Let us know :smileyhappy:
Hope you are feeling ok Katy and that the side effects are few and the benefits great.
Daughter and SIL called in tonight. nice to see them. SIL remarked upon the brambles and other weeds in my garden. I told him that I was going to remove them one day but I didn’t actually know which day :smileyhappy: Seriosly I do need to get rid rid of them…maybe tomorrow…one day the urge to get gardening will strike me!
School is ready for the teachers on Monday. One of them has been in and cleared away some rubbish, which allowed me to to clean up that area. Last minute Lil has been true to her name!
Did have bamboo wool socks the only difference I noticed was they took agggggggggggges to dry, and as it’s a lovely teddy you won’t have to bother about that!
Glad your OH is behaving now, he’s maybe getting anxious about you returning to work??
Ouch brambles?? no wonder you are thinking about it FF, tomorrow or the next is another day…
Have been quiet today, complete and utter relief, so needed “nothing” time.
Another busy week ahead, feel as though I am in the midst of a whirlwind…
Of course you are welcome to dinner! Tonight it is roast pork (the crackling worked!! :)), stuffing, apple sauce, roasties, Yorkshire pudding, smashed roots, roasted beetroot, cauliflower and gravy, followed by pineapple and strawberry upside down cake (actually, more accurately, inside out cake because it fell off the plate as I upended the baking tin!!) and custard.
OH’s strop was partly because I’m going back to work and he doesn’t want to go back to the volunteer allotment but knows, if he doesn’t, he’ll have to find something else to occupy his time. I’m looking forward to being back at work, to be honest: there’s only so much YouTube global warming and extreme weather videos I want to know about and he’s obsessed with them - and has to tell me all about it! All the time.
This evening, we are researching where we could go on holiday, next summer, by train, that has enough to do for 2 weeks without a car, and flat walking direct from self catering accommodation. Norecambe fits the brief - but not sure I’d want to be there 2 weeks! Currently looking at South coast because we’ve not really been there. Lyme Regis? Swanage? Eastbourne? The sooner we book, the more choice of cottage there is but I’m slightly concerned that I’ve no idea if and how much things will have deteriorated in 12 months! Cancellation insurance will probably be silly money due to his PD!
I told OH that we will book a holiday in September in 2020. Because we can! Our Easter holiday will probably be in Norfolk to be near the girls and their baby; due in March!! YD has announced it on Twitter, so I guess it’s OK to share it now. Never thought I’d say this: I’M GOING TO BE A GRANDMA!! Yey!!
The bamboo yarn is very soft. And white. If there are any pandas in it they are staying well hidden: haven’t had to knit around any…yet! The blanket pattern is complicated enough without that as well! I’m wondering if I’ll be able to do it during term time. It requires my full concentration. May be too tired most nights in the week!
Got to set the poxy alarm tonight. BOOO! :smileymad:
If you need flat walking for yur holiday then cross Lyme Regis off your list right now! It’s a lovely place but from the square at the bottom of the town, or the beach it’s uphill and I mean nearly mountain climbing uphill, very steep hills. either way out of town.
You’re going to be a grandma? Whoo hoo! Hooray! That’s fantastic newsI I highly reccomend being a grandma… all of the cuddles and none of the not so nice bits. You give them back to their parents for that. Keep knitting but watch out for the pandas in the yarn, they will creep up on you when you are least expecting them.
Back to school tommorow, teachers in. expect they’ll make a mss as they rearrange things for the new year
Woo hoo JCJ:smileyhappy: a grandbaby, lovely, lovely news:smileyhappy:, happy days!!
Well, well, dinner was different…an awful lot of glitterberry juice on tap…balloons everywhere and a grandma to be writing bad words with the sparklers that appeared from nowhere???
What a night!!
Still busy, busy, until Fri at least, no word of conference for Mum, am betting it will be Fri:smileyfrustrated:
School ok today, signs that the teachers had been in but not a lot of mess, Finished off the jobs that I wanted to do, It’s all ok for the start of term.
Woken up this morning at 4,10 am by the smoke alarm going off, shot out of bed, rushed downstairs , no signs of anything amiss, back upstairs how to shut up the alarm… … poked it with the alarm tester and it stopped. No smoke, no fire, no worries . Panic over and much relief. I checked again that all was well everywhere and went back upstairs. Purdie had been asleep on top of my bed as she usually is, I looked at the bed and there was a Purdie shaped hump underneath the duvet. She’s never done that before. We’d both had a fright so we had a muggatea and then went back to bed.
I have no idea what caused the alarm to go off and I really hope it doesn’t do it again!
Really struggling to get up today. Then I read your post, FF! 4am frights not the best way to start the day!
Inset day yesterday. Same old. Same old. Start back properly today. Looking forward to working with a new teacher but I think it’s going to be a difficult class! Didn’t get the library ready, so I’ll be having to scrounge some time/do overtime (unpaid) to get it set up or the new year. Couldn’tBA to go in in the holidays like I have in the past.
Smoke alarm all quiet last night, but it’s made me think! How the heck would I have I got out if that had been real? I now have a hammer beside the window and the keys are in the doorlocks rather than left on the shelves next to them.
All quiet last night, no alarms, so hoping it was just a blip.
School nice and tidy just the bins to empty and a little hoovering Children back tomorrow so i will be full on cleaning as usual.
I’ve spoken to the pandas and they are just wanting JCJ’s blanket to be as soft as possible and then they will be on their way to make more baby blankets, so they are not a problem and will be leaving Benchland shortly. If you encounter one just give it a bamboo soot and wish it well.
Sooo tired tonight. Long full-on day at school involving teaching a maths lesson to 16 Y5s and teaching the Y3/4 class all afternoon. Already feels like the holiday was weeks ago!
I was just about to settle down, in my nightwear, to watch some mindless TV before early bed when YD phoned. The girls - and bump - are fine. YD is booking the Monday & Tuesday at the end of October off work so we can do our usual half term visit. Talked for over an hour and then OH interrupts to say he’s had a call from his brother’s carers to say he’s in hospital, in London, because they found him collapsed at his flat (also in London. they had to break in). Apparently he has pneumonia, is having to have help with breathing and they asked if OH could get there tonight!! Doesn’t sound good? There’s no way he could drive there, (his days of driving strange roads are over as we discovered on holiday - and he wouldn’t be much better if I drove :() or get there by train at this time of night, so it’s going to be an anxious wait until the morning to see what the situation is. I’m trying to persuade OH that he’s not going to be much help down there anyway if he gets himself into a state travelling. B-I-L is in the best place to get help. He’s been in and out of hospital for a while now, with mental health problems - hence the carers!
Hope brother in law is improving today JCJ, worrying times.
Do you think a new battery maybe needed FF???
They are meant to last for around 5 years?
Still all go here, Fri will not be free, honestly I knew it…
5th conference about Mum has been cancelled and the day they have now chosen is not suitable for us:smileyfrustrated: Spoke to someone yesterday and they said that conference can be held without us so am superly annoyed about that, grrrrrrrrrrr, will be talking to a member of team tomorrow so will see.
Great you are with the girls and bump soon, woo hoo xx
Smoke alarm Is wired to the mains electric, is there a battery as well? I’ve got no idea and I haven’t yet found the leaflet that came with it. I will eventually find the leaflet and then I will know but it’s still quiet so hopefully it was just a blip.
Shout very loudly at the person you speak to tomorrow Katy. It’s just not on to leave you out of a conference about your Mum.
There has to be a back up battery in a smoke alarm in case it’s an electrical fire which causes mains to trip out (same reason you can’t use a lift in a fire!)
Did you have any windows open? Could some smoke have wafted in? Was Purdie having a crafty fag on the landing while you slept?
OH decided not to go to London, which I’m quite relieved about: don’t want him making himself ill. However, when he rang the ward, the doctor quizzed him about when he last visited brother, whether he was coming to visit him in hospital and made OH feel really pressured; as if it was HIS fail his brother refused to eat and got ill (this is the B-I-L that seriously p***** me off when he stayed here a few years ago, and the one that, when invited to spend Christmas with us so he wouldn’t be on his own, asked if he could bring a friend!! The one who is 65 and has never held down a job despite being able bodied and intelligent and has allienated his GF and all his friends - that B-I-L! :() Anyway, other B-I-L drove down (from Stoke) today and apparently the patient is improved enough to be talking. Crisis over, it seems, for the moment. Until the next time?
Swam in the fast lane tonight with the “speed boats” - nearly killed myself trying to swim fast enough not to get in their way and yet didn’t manage any more lengths than usual because I had to keep stopping at the turnarounds to catch my breath and let them pass. I was pretty exhausted before I went - not sleeping well, and the early mornings have been a shock to the system! - so completely kn***ered now! Friday tomorrow though! That’s one benefit of being back at work: Friday appreciation!
Hope they schedule a case conference that you can attend, they’ve cancelled 5 already so I bet this inconvenient one will be cancelled too? xx
JCJ - No windows open, Purdie was not having a crafty fag,and thank you for that suggestion, I laughed out loud and as I was eating at the time I read it, I laughed, coughed, spluttered and half choked myself. No more noise from the alarm and I hope it stays that way…a bit of a mystery!
I’m glad that your OH half decided not to go London. It’s not worth risking his own health. That BIL is improving must make him feel better.
Hoe you shouted Katy.
Youngest GD started in Reception class this week . 4 years and one month old! Daughter has already arranged a staggered start. GD did Weds. all day Thurs am only and was fast aleep on my settee on Thurs. afternoon at 2.pm. It’s ridiculous to expect a four year old to go to school. As my Daughter and I both work in schools, we know all he loopholes so GD will benefit and be OK and still learn.
