Hope you have now had your appt FF, nothing worse than pain that won’t lift:smileysad:
Thank you for the pies:smileyhappy:
It is well worth it JCJ, was at the docs and asked for registration form took less than 2 mins to fill in, didn’t need any id, honestly I love it, appts when you want and ordering prescriptions easy peasy, no phone calls needed, so do go for it.
Mum is still in hospital FF, have an appt next week regarding power of attorney, she is def unable to return home as 24 hour care is needed. Had my hairdresser chop Mum’s hair so she’s looking very tidy now, lots of new casual clothes purchased as she has lost so much weight. She is eating well in hospital and has good colour. Walking is the issue very wobbly and falls constantly:smileysad: Short term memory is also very poor.
But she chats away quite the thing…
Was up at the hospital daily last week, no appts for me, sooooooooo am arranging my own bed there haha.
Been into town early this morning managed to get everything done woo hoo, trying to fit things in at the moment is difficult…also have purchased a new tariff for my phone which means all calls are now free am delighted!!!
And finally FF, I managed to post your parcel, 5 weeks late, as they say “better late than never” xx
This week’s wind has brought down a load of Bramley apples off our tree and unfortunately OH, in his infinite wisdom, has put stones down under the trees so the apples have dents and holes in them. Spent an hour peeling, coring and cutting out the bruised bits. Made several batches of apple sauce: one for with dinner, the others for the freezer; an apple Charlotte for dessert at dinner and sliced the rest for the freezer. That’s it. I’m not putting any more in the freezer! I picked all the apples off the tree that were ready - before they fell and damaged themselves! - and put them in a bucket at the bottom of our drive with some plastic food bags and a “help yourself” label. They were all gone within an hour so that’s where the rest of the ones on the tree will go! We have had soooo many this year!!
Dinner is roast pork, apple sauce, stuffing, roasties, Yorkshire pudding, roast parsnip, carrots, broccoli and gravy followed by apple Charlotte and custard. In the shed as per…
OH going down to London again tomorrow to see B-I-L. On his own this time, but now he knows the route and he’s going to use taxis from Euston to the hospital and back, so he’s not too stressed about it. At the moment. No doubt I’ll get the backlash afterwards- like last weekend! I hope, this time, that he doesn’t forget to take his ***** tablets.
The baby blanket is half done. The pattern is getting easier as I get used to it, but there are still a few mistakes in it. Proves it’s hand made? That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!
Hope you have got some decent pain relief now, FF.
Don’t overdo it with the hospital visiting, Katy. Make some time to rest! xx
So glad that all your apples have found good homes, i.e. my tummy, your freezer and your neighbours! Thank you for dinner, I’ve actually taken my share and popped it in the fridge for tomorrow as I had a real dinner at Son’s today with all the family. Good food, much chat, catching up and putting the world to rights. If only we were in charge…
Saw Dr. on Thursday and I’ve now got some proper painkillers that are working nicely, so I can move about a bit more freely. He also signed me off work for for two weeks. He was a trainee GP and asked for my permission to film the consultation as part of his training. Seemed quite surprised when I refused. No way am I having my medical consultations filmed, next thing I know I’ll be on You Tube! Not happening!
Hope your OH doesn’t get too stressed about visiting his brother.
Arghhhh!! :smileymad: came home - the long way because the road is closed, AGAIN - looking forward to a peaceful evening to myself, as OH in London, until it’s time to fetch him from the station. Sit down with a cup of tea. Phone rings. I answer it. Claims to be from our phone company (The British one!) Said we were loyal customers so we were going to get a discount on our bill: free line rental for 2 years. Woohoo! Finally! Acknowledgments for loyalty I thought. She asked me for my bank card number to “verify the account” and to ensure we “don’t pay twice: at the old rate AND the discounted.” I was wary but she seemed genuine. Then she wanted my birthday. Why? B* doesn’t know that: account is in OH’s name (which she knew). I refused to give my DOB - just told her the year. Then she wanted my mobile number. I’m starting to feel uneasy, so after the call, I contacted the phone company via online chat and they confirmed my suspicions: it wasn’t them! I had been subjected to a phishing attack! Me that’s so savvy and claims OH is gullible! :smileymad: Just spent over an hour phoning the bank and reporting the call to Action Fraud. Grrrr. Bank card cancelled and nothing has gone out of the account. New card will be sent to me. Phew! It’s the joint account that OH’s pension goes into not the one I use most so it’s not a problem to be without aacard for a few days. So annoyed with myself.
It’s not been a great day. Scalded my chin and my…shall we say cleavage, at break because I was rushing and hadn’t put the lid on my safety mug properly (the irony?!) tipped hot black coffee all down my front. Fortunately I had both a cardigan and blouse on so I could pull them away from my skin quickly. Still a bit tender though. Luckily both garments are dark purple so the stain doesn’t show. Mopped myself up. Went out on duty (the reason I was rushing!) and promptly broke my butterfly hair clip as I went to adjust the sagging Barnet. Grrrrrrr!
Get home. Virtually no milk, so I’m going to have to drag the bod up to the shop to get some. So much for a quiet night?! And it’s only Monday!!
Hope your scalding is not too bad now, how ouchy:smileysad:
It is soooooooooooo easy to be caught out by these phone calls, you always think it will never be you but they know what they are doing and are out to get you, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
Not what you want to come home to, great you have cancelled card etc.
FF, glad painkillers are working, woo hoo.
Really quiet day today, didn’t leave house at all, honestly it was bliss…xx
So glad that you caught the scam and cancelled the card before you lost any money. These people are soooo plausible, they do their homework and are so realistic. I’ve had calls in the past, especially when I had a business. I now treat all calls as suspicious and refuse to give any details to anyone… I always tell them to write to me with details of the offer…they never do.
Hope you are not feeling too tender after the coffee scalding incident.
Oooh the postman called…a parcel! Such a nice surprise!
The painkillers are working, no real pain but still having to be careful about movement as it’s ouchy if I move without thought.
New bank card arrived today. Still no suspicious activity on that account so it looks like I may be OK. No lasting damage from the coffee ‘shower’ either!
Road still closed, so I have to drive an extra 4 miles or so to and from work. Bit of a pain!
YD sent me an audio file today of “sprout’s heartbeat”! It sounds like a toy train. YD said she thinks her OH is having a train set. Heeheehee
Glad your back is easing, FF. Move carefully!
Thank goodness for a quiet day, KTC. Sounds like you definitely needed that!
Glad your back is not quite so painful FF just be soo careful. Hard to do as you can make the slightest of movements and off it goes again, grrrr!
Is your blanket nearly done JCJ?
Great news hearing the baby woo hoo!
So glad no one is being naughty with your account…
Been busy today, met solicitor regarding Mum, received really good advice, met with cousin then up to hospital, then down to see ED quick nip into supermarket and home hurrah!!
Have been checking nursing homes and will hopefully start calling around soon, been reading the inspectorate reports so now have my favourites, will just have to see if they have any beds available.
My body is protesting but I am soldiering on haha!!
Dentist tomorrow early and a meeting late afternoon it just goes on and on…but I did have that at home day!!
Feet up now and lounging around on sofa chocolate is calling me from the cupboard so will have to get up and release that huge bar asap xx
All fine at dentist have sparkly teeth now:smileyhappy:
Appt was over in 20 mins so all good there too!
Was just thinking that tomorrow I will have no appts nor will I have to see anyone, oh how wrong can I be??? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…phone call “will be at yours at 9 am tomorrow morning to fix missing tv channels”, ok but you will have a hard job cause it’s actually the dish…crazy thing is I obviously want it fixed, just cannot be bothered…
So am sitting firmly on the “CBA” bench until further notice. xx
Flippin’ freezing in “The Channel” tonight! The lady on the desk did warn me that it was cold and I thought that’s preferable to feeling like I’m in some cannibal soup, but every time I swam into the deep end it made me gasp. Kept me moving though! Now 20% of the way around Jersey. Though the cold water made me wonder if I was back up in a Scottish loch! At least this week I managed to resist the temptations of the charity sweeties on the reception desk. Last week I succumbed to the chocolate covered fruit and nuts! Scoffed them ALL whilst driving home and on my muesli in the morning. Nom nom.
Macmillan coffee morning at school tomorrow. I’ve taken in a ginger cake and hope to buy it - or something else - back!
Back is still improving but today my silly tummy has decided to play up :smileysad: So bloated I couldn’t get my jeans done up so am in the loose trousers today.
Tomorrow is going to be interesting…I am picking up youngest GD from school at 1.00pm. My Daughter is going to a wedding and won’t be back until about 3.00pm. My car goes in for it’s MOT tomorrow so I will be driving hers as she’s getting a lift to the wedding.
So…bad back, funny tummy, different car and a 4 year old. it could be ok or it could be carnage! I’m bringing GD back to my house and putting on a DVD. She may fall asleep as she’s not coping with school at all well. Two afternoons a week off may have to be increased to three or four but then she’ll miss out on the more social activities that happen in the afternoons. Just why do the gov’t think 4 year olds should be at school? Sorry, I’m ranting but it’s wrong, all wrong…
So glad that you have sparkly teeth Katy, flash them at the tv man tomorrow and it will be fixed in no time. Also glad that you are getting good advice and hope you managed to snag that chocolate bar.
Grandma to a train set JCJ? Seriously, how lovely to hear the hearbeat. I didn;t know it could be recorded and sent on but technology marches on and leaves me far behind.
Hope you have warmed up and well done for resisting the charity sweeties but the charity need your money. That’s a dilemma for next week :smileywink:
Don’t think it was the painkillers as I’ve had them before with no ill effects. Thankfully tummy was ok this morning so that was was one problem off the list.
Took my car to the garage and picked up Daughter’s car. We both have Fiesta’s so how different can they be? Although all the controls are in the same place they are very different. Her clutch pedal takes twice as much effort to depress and as I swung into my parking space and went to stop I discovered her brakes weren’t as good as mine! EEK! I did stop before I hit the fence…just!
So, off to school to get GD. Arrived and they had to go and get the Head Teacher to prove who I was. She was the Senior Teacher at my school so she knows me and knows that GD is mine.
All ok so far…and then they told me that GD was just having the blood mopped off her knees and plasters applied after falling in the playground… A few minutes wait and she appeared and we’re good to go.
She’s walking like a robot, knees are not bending and she can’t climb into her car seat as she usually does. I have to lift her in, I considered this and thought …there’s no other way but if I lift her straight in she will hit her head on the car roof. I told her to duck and lifted her in. Good grief, she’s heavier than I thought! Right…now,.do you think I could get the straps of the harness to click together? No, so we drove back to my house through the back lanes at about 10 mph with her not belted in. Naughty.
We made it safely home and as I’d promised her a DVD and sweeties, I turned on the DVD player and Inserted the DVD. Would it play? Would it heck. Tried again, checked the connecting wires, Nothing, just a funny noise. Think my DVD player is broken. Gave her the sweets and put Cbeebies on. She was happy.
The only carnage seems to be poor GD’s knees as I’ve no idea what was under the plasters, which were 3" square! Thankfully back seems no worse from lifting her.
AND my car sailed through it’s MOT yippee! Nothing wrong, no advisories, nothing, more yippees!
A day and a half then, indeed?? Hopefully you are relaxing today! Glad your tummy is better.
I also thought perhaps the meds too, great minds JCJ haha!!
Quiet today, hurrah, did loads yesterday and could hardly walk by the time I arrived home…so that meant I had to treat myself to a chippie, was actually thinking of having a takeaway tonight but that’s going too far…or is it???
ED’s graduation next week, purchased a new dress and a bottle of champagne, ED will drink after baby is born haha.
Was in a local store and was checking out the mugs, cracked one recently, saw a very pretty one in a box, price £8.99, mmmmmmmmmmm, checked price again and it had been reduced to 99p, that’s the one for me:smileyhappy: xx
Dinner tonight is roast lamb, roasties, Yorkshire pudding, smashed roots, cabbage - both red and green, gravy and mint sauce followed by mincemeat stuffed baked apple explosion (overdid the cooking of the baked apples; YD said I should serve it with a slice of puff pastry and call it deconstructed strudel! :D) with limoncello sorbet and vanilla ice cream.
It’s not been a good weekend. OH stressed (b***** B-I-L!) I’ve been trying to help but making things worse - because everything is my fault of course! I’ve been worried because he’s not finished a meal in aaaages and I’m sure he’s losing weight. I have been terrified that this is the beginning of a rapid decline. Tonight though, he ate all his Sunday roast (admittedly, I’ve been cutting back a bit on the number of veg and the portion size) and even spooned up every last bit of gravy. Such a relief to see him enjoying food again - (even if it is a wobbly battle to get it to his mouth!)
Yesterday, I went on the PD website forum to see if I could talk to other wives/carers. I hoped it would be as supportive as this wonderful forum. It wasn’t. And I scared myself silly with what might be in the future. Most people posting seemed to be splitting up with their PD spouses. Not helpful when I’m wondering if I’ll cope!!
Going to cheer myself up by looking for some boots online. My “Shh! Baby dogs” brown ankle ones are really much too tatty for work now.
Mmmmm, yummy, yum, love your dinners JCJ:smileyhappy:, feel truly spoiled.
Aaaah shame about weekend and forum…think it’s true to say you always hurt the one you love, not much fun for the recipient though. Shows how lucky we are to have found here. You think there would be somewhere, did they have a helpline? or phone line? Perhaps there is a group meeting in your area? It does def help to speak to others in the same position. Difficult to deal with on your own:smileysad: When is the next consultant appt?
Been quiet again today, hurrah, did hoovering and cleaned things I have been ignoring for weeks:smileyembarrassed:
Lots going on next week so it’s the only day I could do a catch up, am pleased, just couldn’t be bothered doing anything yesterday haha.
It’s cold here now, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr especially in the mornings and evenings, afternoons are quite warm, everyone is saying we are meant to be having an awful winter, fingers crossed they are wrong haha.
My finger is still a little tender, just at times, takes around 6 weeks to heal properly, it’s def still bigger than other fingers:smileyfrustrated:
Have GS next week, am excited cause I’ve not had him for ages, have seen him lots but it hasn’t just been the two of us, so am planning a fun day…GD is learning to play the guitar, she loves it so far…xx
Been all over the place last couple of days, did a selection of nursing homes today. We liked 2 so will add mum to the waiting lists tomorrow the one place that does have a bed available is awful. Huge place that reminded me of “one flew over the cuckoo’s nest” a modern version…
Yucketty yuck that’s where they are pushing for mum to go, not good.
Girls saw genetics yesterday they will have mammo s from age 40, it’s what we were expecting so all OK with that, they now will automatically be transferred onto system.
ED s ceremony tomorrow then out for a meal so early bed for me tonight xx
Have parcels arrived yet JCJ? ??
I always am excited about parcels haha x hope everything fits.
Am lying on sofa while I type this slurping a muggatea and munching a large bar of chocolate woo hoo!!
Grad day went very well lasted a long time but time passed quickly shed a small tear as ED marched across stage very proud moment. We had a lovely lovely meal yum yum.
Up and down to hospital today arrived home around 5pm hence me lounging around.
Didn’t manage to get into town today so ill have to go tomorrow, not too pleased about that as it’s so busy on Saturdays, plan is to go very early or very late, very late is winning at the moment haha xx
Trousers have arrived and a text from “sounds like bank or office workers” to say they have “unexpected demand” (who knew? With a 20% reduction on all women’s footwear! Sooo unexpected??!!) so boots will be next week. Or will they? Now I can’t try trousers on with boots. Trousers are a nice colour: chocolate brown, and seem to be well made but the fabric is lighter weight than I expected. Not tried them on yet. They only arrived today and CBA to do it until undressing for bed later (not much later though! It’s Friday: slob night!)
Just got back from having chippies in the park. Every week I think it’s the last week I’ll be able to, but I keep on braving it. It was aabit dark tonight despite nearby street lights. Got accosted by a group of 15/16 year olds, this evening, asking me to go in the shop and buy them some alcoholic beverages. I of course said “No!” (and then braced myself half expecting trouble) They walked off and I wished I’d said “I’d lose my job” (which is true) and when they asked why I’d say I was a police officer and watch them **** themselves. Mwahahah!
The charity sweeties got me again last night. I was resisting until I saw a bag of teeny snickers. No hesitation. £1 in the box. Sweeties in my bag quicker than a flash. I had a few after swimming and put the rest in my bedside drawer to keep them out of temptation’s way. But I know they are there and in a minute I’m going to go upstairs and then who knows what may happen?!!
Cirque du Soleil tomorrow. Excited. Hope OH doesn’t get in a state this time and spoil it.
