Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

I might have known. Never have any luck buying clothes from Mr Futon. Trousers 2" too small. It’s not that I’ve been scoffing all those teeny snickers either! All my other trousers - from several different retailers - are the size these are supposed to be and fit comfortably, but these are nowhere near even fastening! Shame, because the style and colour are nice. It’s the biggest size they sell so I have had to request a return and refund. Back to the search. :frowning:

Could have been chocs and chippie…haha

I have been lucky with Mr Futon, my secret is to only buy from the ones I know size will def fit, if you get what I mean??

Hope all goes well for you and OH today/tonight, fingers crossed it’s all good!!

Bit the bullet and went into town superly early, am soooooooooooo glad, it’s over and done with.

Washed beds and tidied up so am pretty much back to normal for this week, hurrah:smileyhappy:

YD just came in and asked if I wanted to go into town with her tomorrow, oh no, smiled and said ofcourse I’ll come…

Sun is shining here but it’s oh so cold, have given in…heating is on brrrrrrrrr xx

Cirque du Soleil was brilliant. Absolutely stunning. We had great seats: front row of the top tier, on the end of a row in the centre, so we had a great view but it wasn’t at all claustrophobic for OH. I think he enjoyed most of it but he had to shut his eyes for some of the trapeze acts - too stressful! The journey there was fine: car, train, taxi and we arrived at just the right time. Getting back wasn’t so much fun. I hate crowds. And cities. OH walking sooo slow, painful and wobbly. We eventually located a taxi and got to New Street Station (previously, or on my own,  could have walked it in 15 minutes! :() Needed food desperately so I left OH on a bench and went to forage. Found some delicious pasties. By the time he’d eaten his, we’d missed a train and the next one was cancelled “due to a member of the crew being unavailable” (what???! Can just imagine school closing because a teacher CBA to turn up!! Grrrr!) So the train we did get - just 3 carriages - was crammed. Standing room only - all through the train. Kind man gave up his seat for OH and made someone else get up for me (which embarrassed me as I would have been ok standing for the short 20 minute journey!) Stations all dark. No announcements so it’s a stressful count of stops to get off where the car’s parked. We got to the doors 1 stop too soon and another kind man offered OH his seat. He declined as it was literally 2 minutes to our station. There ARE nice people out there! Very glad to get home. Also very glad we declined the retirement party invite - 1 1/2 hrs drive away - for today. Really pleased we went to CduS but I don’t think we’ll be doing anything as adventurous again. Being amongst thousands of young, able bodied people really brings it home how bad things are getting. :frowning:

We’re both on the Kna****ed bench today!

Hope your town trip today isn’t too exhausting, KTC! I’ve ordered some “new” brown trousers from a private seller on Mr Futon (originally from a shop whose sizing I know, as you suggested - but are they being sold unworn because they’re NOT the labelled size?? That’s the usual problem!) Fingers crossed because there’s “no return” on these! :frowning: Email to say boots have been despatched! Yay! Hope THEY fit!

Soooooooo glad you enjoyed your day out JCJ and all went well, happy exhausted is ok:smileyhappy:

Fingers crossed trousers fit this time, new boots too! Woo hoo!!!

Did go into town, we weren’t too long but was really tired and went to back to bed, fell asleep quickly, everything is at such a quick pace at the moment am struggling a little, feet are not good but lido soon, will hopefully make all the difference.

Is there any dinner tonight JCJ?? It’s ok if you are too tired to be bothered haha xx

Hope you found the roast beef dinner and chocolate, orange and raisin sponge with chocolate sauce in the shed!

Boots arrived today. They seem to be fine although very tricky to get on and off. I’m sure that will improve as the elastic sides stretch a bit with wear. I’m on the *@#!*#&!!! bench because I’ve just kicked myself very hard in the shin whilst attempting to remove one boot with the toe of the other. Foot slipped. WHAM! Straight into my shin - heel first, obviously. Owy, owy owy OW!!

Message to say trousers are on their way. Message from previous trouser person agreeing to refund. Yay!

Flying in and flying out…how I wish I did have a broomstick!!

YD was rushed to other city last night, baby decided to arrive 6 1/2 weeks early, a couple of hours later baby grandson was born by emergency C section. Both are stable whew!! YD after some complications is now up on ward and baby is in SCBU and is now managing to breathe on his own xx

Congrats to you Katy on another GS.  It must have been a very worrying time for you all with him being so early but thankfully all seems now good.and both YD and babe are being very well cared for.

JCJ, such a shame that you cannot yet remove boots without injuring yourself :smileywink:  More practice perhaps?  Your trouser problem, I sympathise with.  I was wearing a size 10 pair of trousers from a well known supermarket when I internet ordered the same pair, same size but in a different colour, from their website. They duly arrived and they are far too small…the same make, the same size…???

Glad you both enjoyed Cirque du Soleil.

My back is a lot better than it was, I can now reach my feet to put my socks on!  Back to work on Friday, think Dr, got the dates mixed up  and he meant to sign me off until the 12th but he put the 11th. Ooops.

Purdie off to the vet on Thursday for her annual jab and a health check.  I haven’t told her…she’ll get the message when the cat carrier appears on the settee.

Oh good grief, Katy! She had little enough time to prepare for unexpected baby without him arriving so early as well! Must have been very scary. Glad they are both OK.

Barely slept last night. Soooo tired.

Hope Purdie didn’t receive a shock arriving at vets, am sure you have spoiled her to make up for an ouchy.

Glad your back is improving, takes a long time to recover unfortunately…:smileysad:

I know, how annoying, how can they be different sizes???

JCJ, hope you managed your swim, have new trousers arrived yet?

An escapade with your boots, indeed haha!

Stayed home yesterday until afternoon, nipped into town, returned most of maternity clothes YD had bought on Sun, so another job done.

YD felt a little poorly yesterday (reassured her that was normal) and GS has jaundice, she sent me a few pics and last one his eyes were open, hurrah. They are doing skin to skin contact, it’s really wonderful, his little face is so content xx

No real shocks for Purdie at the vets, after having the cat carrier held vertically so she fell out, she was quite well behaved, she let him look at her eyes, ears and feel her abdomen.  Trying to listen to her heartbeat was a step too far …so she hid in the only dark place that was available to her…under his tunic top :smileyhappy::

It was funny, he extracted her and then got the injection ready…he was so quick, i swear she never even noticed it. So that’s done for another year.

Glad vet experience not too traumatic - for Purdie or for you, FF!

Hope the new mum and baby are still doing well.

I finished the baby blanket just in time for YD’s arrival today; she’s visiting for the weekend. I have a whole ball of bamboo yarn left and YD has changed her mind about “babies don’t wear knitted stuff any more”. She’s looked through my vast collection of knitting patterns (inherited most of them from my sister) and post-it-noted several jackets and jumpers. I know what I’ll be doing for the next few months! No knitted C-word tat this year! May not even bother with the C-word Fair as it’s on a Friday evening instead of Saturday this year and we never get as many customers then. I think I’ve got just enough bamboo left for one of the newborn size hoodies - aww! Soooo cute! Itching to get to the wool shop for more supplies for the other patterns.

It’s beautiful JCJ:smileyhappy:!

Hope you have had a lovely time with YD, do they know if it’s a boy or girl? or do they not wish to know?

Glad all went well with Purdie FF, whew!

And hoping your back is still improving.

So busy yesterday and we had torrential rain here, yuck, managed to do most things and went in a taxi up to see Mum, spent a lengthy time with her so it was great. My cousin received a call regarding “one flew over cuckoo’s nest place” person said we had requested place there for her, WHAT??? so cousin put that right in no uncertain manner…we’ll see what next move is…

YD still having some issues, swelling today, bloods have been taken and should know more soon, GS is back under light jaundice, nurses said that may happen so all ok there. His feeds are 3 hourly now and he is munching more.

ED has been a bit off yesterday and today so ordered her to call midwife, she gave her a blood test and her iron levels are low so she will have different tablets, sorted, whew!

Have been at home today, caught up with washing and did lie down for a while, bed early tonight, well after dinner if there is any this week JCJ?? xx

Dinner was/is roast lamb, roasties, Yorkshire pudding, smashed roots, cabbage, gravy and mint sauce followed by apple crumble and custard. YD has just left, taking a portion of apple crumble home for D-I-L.

It was lovely to see her. We had a good chat which has made me feel much better. Work and OH’s declining mobility and fragile mental state have been really getting me down lately. OH did one of his Sunday strops today, so she got to see what he’s like. She suggested I abandon him and go and live in a little flat by the seaside, in Cromer, so I’m available for babysitting! She wasn’t entirely serious - or entirely joking - I suspect! Certainly a tempting thought!

They don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet, but intend to find out, if they can, in a couple of weeks time, when the 20 week scan is due.

Sad to see her go, as always. I hate it that she lives 3 hours away. :frowning: But we’ll see her at half term, in 2 weeks time, and they will be coming for C-word again this year. YEH!! I didn’t dare hope - and that’s one of the things that had been getting me down: the prospect of C-word with just grumpy OH (he’s always grumpy at that time of year!!) I’ve told her they won’t be coming next year: we refused to travel for C-word with the children so I can’t expect them to.

It’s a full-on week at work coming up with teacher observations, TA observations and, on Friday, a sort of mini inspection by leaders from across the Academy. Last time we had that EVERYONE ended up in tears, so it’s not filling anyone with joy at the prospect, even though the visitors are under strict instructions that they have to be supportive and positive! We’ll see. At least it will be all over this time next week - until the imminent HMI inspection anyway!!

OH has THREE hospital appointments and a dentist appointment this week. He’s managed to get one moved so that it’s on the same day as another one; Tuesday, and I have requested leave from work to go with him for those. Can’t take 3 afternoons off in one week though!

Going to go and catch up on yesterday’s Strictly to cheer myself up.

Hope all is going well JCJ fingers crossed x
Lido tomorrow hurrah!
Can visit YD afterwards she will be staying in hospital till GS is ready to come home now she can relax and have proper time with him instead of running along corridors. She will be beside him in scbu.
ED now has her iron tabs hopefully start working soon x

Oops thank you for dinner xx

Thank you for dinner JCJ, so yummy as usual.  The blanket looks lovely and knitted garments for babies are the way to go, it’s just a tradition… Glad they’ll be with you for 25th Dec. Not mentioning the C word yet. Daughter was over this weekend and asked if there was anything GD shouldn’t see in spare bedroom? No’ not yet!

I am thinking about December but nohing needs to be hidden yet.

Went back to school on Friday as sick certificate had run out.  People that were filling in for me while I was off had just finished the cleaning.  I’ve now learnt that although the powers that be had known of my return on Friday it was better for them to employ the stand in firm for the whole week.  I didn’t mind, I spent fifteen minutes at school and came home. Result!

But now I am back to school officially… yesterday.left school in pain waddling like a duck, today left waddling, more pain…so it’s back to the Drs. Will make an appt in the morning… Will stagger through the rest of the week, and then it’s half term and I can please myself and see the Dr.

Your half term must be the week before ours again, FF. Does that mean you have an 8 week half term up to C-word? Or do you finish earlier than us then too?

It sounds like you need to change your job to something less physical if it’s aggravating your back?

Teacher obvs when well. Her brilliance was recognised and acknowledged  I hope I will be able to say the same for mine, although I don’t know when it is yet. Also hope we come off as well after Friday’s “not an inspection” review!!

7 more get ups. So tired.

Aaah FF, when you potter around your own home you think you will be able to manage the workplace, sometimes it’s not the case especially when you are bending, lifting etc, any movement can aggravate, fingers crossed you see doc soon, difficult with backs if you move too much it’s awful and if you rest too much, same.

Hope all goes well for your “test” JCJ, our kids have been off for 2 weeks and return next week.

Lido went well, 3 attempts, 2 by doc, ouch, no it wasn’t too bad. No sick feeling and just a little thudding headache but am exhausted haha!!

Cousin was going up to see Mum today and I was going with her, I hummed and hawed most of the morning then made a decision, I would stay at home and visit tomorrow or Fri, phoned cousin and said just that and she said she had word about an available bed for Mum at a Care Home, we hadn’t been to, so pushed tiredness to the side, visited Mum, saw Care Home, then revisited Mum to tell her all about it. It’s really lovely so am well pleased, wheels are now in motion, more finger crossing she will be in there soon. After “one flew over the cuckoo’s nest” new place is like a luxury hotel…

Arrived back home and HAD to lie down.

YD and baby together for the first day properly, lots of happiness in her voice tonight.

ED noticing slight difference with more iron, she eats mega amounts of the proper veg etc so very surprising that she is deficient.

Learned that ED is rhesus neg and YD is rhesus pos, they are exact opposites, have no idea my blood type.

Early bed tonight, brain is mush (normal) and body does not want to do anything, roll on tomorrow xx

PS Did trousers fit??? xx

I got out the calender after your post JCJ and yes, I’ve got an eight week half term, we break up on the 21st December.  I have staggered through this week and I will manage next week as I have holiday and less hours to work. I have Drs. appt next Weds. so will see.

Difficult to get another job as my age means any employer puts my application to the bottom of the pile! Ageism is me :smileysad:

Yes, we break up on 21st too, and we’ve got the 8 weeks THIS half!

The trousers are lovely and a good fit. I wore them yesterday, with the new boots, for work and they are a teeny bit too long so I’ll hem them up between washing and ironing them at the weekend. I deliberately ordered long ones because usually trousers are too short for me: can’t do much about that now we’re no longer in the 70s when we could add coloured ribbons etc to make them longer, but shortening is easier!

The “Channel” was quite quiet tonight and I’m now over 1/4 of the way around Jersey. After swimming, I decided to pick up the train tickets I bought online last night - for the biannual Norwich trip. The station is a five minute walk from the swimming pool and on the way, I passed a guy eating chips. It took ALL my strength not to walk the 2 minutes in the other direction along the High Street to the chippy. It was only the realisation that chips tonight would take the joy away from Friday night chippies that stopped me!

Came home and made tea and toast. I bought some croissants earlier, whilst buying the milk for the staffroom at school, because they were half price and I couldn’t resist. Popped one of them on top of the toaster when I was cooking(?) a slice of toast, just to warm it a bit. Toast popped up and fired the croissant across the kitchen! That made me laugh!

Glad you’ve found somewhere nice for mum, Katy, and that your girls are both improving.

I’m dreading tomorrow, but it will soon be over. Hope it’s not as gruesome as last time. Whatever they say we can ignore anyway, because we’re following HMI’s advice and will have another inspection from them soon anyway. Hey ho! Just think of those chippies!
